New player to this route since TSW3. I've tended to stick to the journey mode as I would hope that this would give a good intro to the route with sensible progression. My mileage with this in the past has varied however recently on Cajon Pass this has been very positive so I thought as I was seeing the route fresh I'd stick with this approach. Skipped the two tutorial chapters as I was comfortable operating UK routes with this type of train and jumped straight into 'Commuter Games'. First impresson here, everything is very bright & washed out. It appears much worse from the cab view almost like there is a 'looking through glass' effect being applied that makes everything look drab & lifeless. The trees seem to be particularly badly affected and almost look ghostly. Completed this chaper without issue and moved into 'Alright on the Night'. Was a bit aprehensive here based on the TSW tradition of poor night lighting and then journey mode typically happening mostly at night... First activity was in the broad daylight, weird but ok. 2nd was in pitch black. Like not night pitch black, like blackout in the blitz black. Seemingly the only light outside of the train was signals. Sigh, ok lets skip the Javelin. The start to 'Need for Speed' was excellent, the first tutorial has been greatly improved from the days of up down left right. I'd looked ahead a bit and seen that the next chaper 'Taking Pride' started with the high speed signalling introduction so my hopes were high for some nice Cajon style progression where maybe we start out with the Javelin on normal journeys and then move to the TVM. No such luck, first activity boom straight into TVM with no introduction. Great. Oh well I can figure this out, just got to remember what I saw on one of the streams a while back. Completed shopping shuttle with no issue. Now for 1J83. So next thing I know I'm doing 170kph into the back of a stationary train ahead. This could go wither way, maybe this is how TVM works or maybe it's a weird DTG implementation hopefully someone here can shed some light on this for me. I'm barrelling along into the first stop and TVM start flashing '200' then '170' ok no issue here, same as before, I'm expecting 100 then maybe 80. Nope, next thing three red zeros, full brakes but not a chance. SPAD. My manager had Hobnobs and some so not all so bad. Lets try again, I'm think maybe I was coming in a bit hot and maybe got ahead of the system trying to slow me down gradually, tried again, nice & steady but the TVM progression was the same. This time I was slow enough to be ready for it but it still took full brake application to stop. So question is, is this normal. is it me or TSW? Some other point of note on the Javelin. If you have a second set coupled to you, it doesn't make motor sounds. I assume it is still propelling you, just no sounds. Getting out of the seat sometimes involves you being projected through the back of the seat or cab roof. Standing in the cab and moving the view when stopped on a banked section results in some weird changing FOV effect that gave me almost immediate motion sickness. Can't fault DTG for this but whoever designed the cab door? Even when it's open it still blocks way over 50% of the opening. Oh and the socket in the cab is upside down seemingly by design. 0/10 literally unplayable
TVM-430 is allowed in real life to show a flashing 170kph limit, followed by "000." This is prototypical. In real life, as Sequencer2k16 may wish to elaborate on, the driver would see the flashing 170 and expect to be slowed down further, so would continue braking to well below 170 (sequencer2K16 recommends 130kph). They did explain this fully on the post - I'll see if I can find it for you and edit this post if I ever do. As for the rest of your complaints regarding the lighting, they are probably valid, but unlikely to change.
Excellent thanks. I also found this one which was useful. All part of the fun of learning https://forums.dovetailgames.com/th...mething-with-tvm-signaling.60383/#post-549955
