A great way to introduce steam to TSW is not through a heritage railway but to actually create a route set in the 1960s. A great example for a way this could be done is through the stretch from Woking to Eastleigh. The line would take you via Basingstoke and along the South Western Mainline. It would then go from there to Winchester. This would add the following stations:
    • Woking
    • Brookwood
    • Farnborough
    • Fleet
    • Winchfield
    • Hook
    • Basingstoke
    • Mitcheldeva
    • Winchester
    • Shawford
    • Eastleigh
The route could also come with the following locomotives:
    • Merchant Navy Class
    • Standard 4 (either tank or tender)
    • Un-rebuilt Westcountry
    • Urie S15
These locomotives will allow for a variety of fast services, slow services and freight services. Overall, I think this could become a very exciting and popular route and I hope you take it into consideration. If this does not appeal, then possibly another section of the South Western Mainline as I think Southern steam would be brilliant regardless.
