Thank you for the reponse. What I was trying to point out, is that DTG have put the existing players into a difficult situation, whereas, if they don't complain about something, it probably won't get fixed, but if they do complain about something, it might get taken away altogether. So, those who were once drawing attention to the save issue, now have to almost divert attention from it, hoping to get it back. Of course, I don't recall anyone ever saying, this save function is so bad it should just be removed until it can be fixed, although perhaps some people did I would say, also, that I do think it affects new and existing players differently. The existing players have not gotten the fix they wanted; it is only being addressed, apparently, so that new players are not also put off. Suggestions to leave it in as an alpha or other ideas have so far been ignored. Although both groups of players will equally not have a save function, there is only one group who is used to having it, and only one group that it was not previously fixed for. It might not follow that DTG addressing a problem is a bad thing; however, I guess it all depends on how the problem is addressed. As I stated, I don't agree with what they are doing, but that is only my opinion. The amount of time it takes to get the save function back, and what routes will or will not get it, will be the determing factor here. Will any lessons be learned? No doubt some will, whether at DTG, or not.
Which is why it should still be available, as an option to be switched on in settings with a suitable caveat. But then maybe DTG programmers or UI compilers aren’t that clever to script that in to the menu. Well DTG are back at work today (hopefully) so it will be interesting to whether there has been a change of heart over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Right, so I've recently been playing up to 30 mins at a time, far too late at night, with the expectation of encountering the red signal issue upon resumption of a save to populate TrainSim-Matt 's spreadsheet with data, but ironically having more success than ever before with successful saves. Then I got a red signal bug on Minehead Shunter Part 2. I wanted to get past this part of journey mode for the route, so tonight I've just spent a bit more than 30 mins slowly moving around the yard, not saving at all because I figured stuff it, I'm doing this in one go even if I'm up even later than usual simply to get past this section. Well, I was just about to couple up to the last carriage and the game crashed. So I've just totally wasted over 30 mins, when I could have been asleep or even reading a good novel to wind down away from a screen, thus proving a reason why we need a fully working save, to save periodically so if we encounter a crash we can jump back a minute or two, not have to restart from scratch yet again another night and hope for the best. And this is exactly why I threw in the towel before and stopped playing completely. So, no, I'm not buying TSW3, even though I was teetering on the fence recently, faithful that save will be fixed. No. DTG need to prove it first and get it fixed and reinstated before I spend another penny on their products. I'm done for now. Will be watching the forums and streams, but playing games that I can pick up for 10 or so minutes, save, and actually enjoy.
I had a crash pulling into San Jose after a an hour plus local from from frisco. 25000 ability points. That god for that save file. I hope it’s fixed soon but knowing a bit about software it’s unclear to me how long it will be I hope even more they change their mind and leave the current save in place while they fix it
