Actually, at least for me on Steam, a few weeks or months ago a "Train Sim World® 3 Upgrade Pack" appeared, without new DLC, at 13.99 euro.
Quite honestly, I doubt it. It will be a broken promise and that's a very serious matter in any walk of life. But there have been a number of broken promises - Rush Hour passengers on BML, banking com on CRR etc.. And there has been no great fallout from those letdowns. It can be explained away by the excuse that the company is now under new ownership ( and possibly new management ) and all future plans will be under review. Meanwhile, all bets are off. I'll be interested to see whether the TSW2 updates are still on the Roadmap next month ( if there is a Roadmap next month ) Even if they are, will it really mean anything?
To be honest I was one of the people who said I wasn't going to get TSW3 and would stay and wait for the updates to come to TSW2, I would constantly post about it and would get fobbed off, ignored or ridiculed by community members for wanting the promised updates. However I gave up on waiting for DTG to pull their fingers out, I ended up getting TSW3 (as a present from my siblings) as I can't see these broken promised updates ever getting released. It's been since August last year that TSW3 released? The updates were meant to come out shortly after but 8 months later and still nothing yet the same things have been said when questioned on them "they're waiting for an appropriate build for release" or "look out for more details about them on the roadmap" etc etc.
Would be? It is already a complete PR disaster, as are all the bugs and half finished/half tested DLC they keep releasing. One quick look at these forums tells me that people in their disgust, have stopped blindly buying every new release due to the number of bugs, glitches, snags and other detractions from the game.
Yes I get that feeling as well. Even many die hards seem to have woken up and are more choosy about their purchases rather than buying up everything day one or even waiting for discounts. There are many who really like TSW3 and many who hate it. Interesting contrast that DTG has created for themselves. The minority seems to be the middle ground voices. As a mostly casual player myself, I still play TSW2 (quite a bit this week in fact) as it runs the best for me. So for me it's not that I hate the game, it's just frustrating to see a developer shoot itself in the foot repeatedly while smiling politely to the crowd as if there's nothing to see here. I wish them the best if they choose to turn things around. It will take a monumental effort to regain the trust of their past customers though. Let's wait and see what the future brings.
So in the end, DTG got what they wanted from you. Postpone the TSW2 updates to infinity, so the people who did not want to buy TSW3 (for whatever reasons, there are many possible reasons) but want to have a fixed game, will buy TSW3. A shameful tactic, but one which (sadly) provides much money.
Update ? What update? It's "no longer" on the roadmap.... Do like everyone else, give them more money and buy TSW3 super bug & co.
I don't think theTSW2 updates will ever be released. My guess is that they will drag it out for a few more months with various tempting bundle offers and then give TSW3 away free to all TSW 2 owners. By then 99% of people will have already bought TSW3. The "lost" sales income will be less than the time costs of actually releasing the fixes. No doubt this will provide the opportunity for marketing department will go into overdrive telling us all how generous and wonderful DTG are and all mention of broken promises will just be ignored.
Exactly. Dangle the TSW2 route fixes "hey they're over here behind our useless paywall! Come and get it!". Yeah, no thanks.
