I am writing to you as a passionate Train Sim World player and railway enthusiast to suggest something that I, and I believe many other players, would absolutely love to see in Train Sim World: a Belgian railway route. Belgium would be a fantastic addition to Train Sim World, and I honestly believe it is a country that deserves to be represented in the game. Belgium has one of the densest railway networks in the world and has a very interesting railway system with its own trains, infrastructure, signalling systems, stations, scenery and operational characteristics. Despite being a relatively small country, Belgian railways offer an enormous amount of variety that could make for a very interesting and authentic Train Sim World experience. One of the biggest reasons I believe a Belgian route would work so well is the diversity of the Belgian railway network. Belgium has everything from major international railway stations and busy commuter lines to rural railway sections, large junctions, freight traffic and high-speed railway lines. A single route could already offer a huge amount of variety, while a larger Belgian route or future expansion could offer even more. For example, a route around Brussels would be extremely interesting. Brussels is one of the most important railway hubs in Belgium, with stations such as Brussels-Midi, Brussels-Central and Brussels-North. These stations handle an enormous amount of passenger traffic every day and connect many different railway lines. Brussels-Midi is also an important international station for services such as Eurostar and other international trains. Recreating this environment in Train Sim World would give players the opportunity to experience a genuinely busy European railway hub. Belgium also has a very recognizable railway fleet. Belgian National Railway Company SNCB/NMBS operates a wide variety of trains, including multiple generations of electric multiple units and locomotives. Trains such as the AM80 "Break", AM96, Desiro ML and M7 double-decker trains would all be very interesting additions to Train Sim World. Each of these trains has its own appearance, sounds, driving characteristics and interior design, which could provide a lot of variety for players. The M7, in particular, could make an excellent Train Sim World train. It is a modern Belgian double-decker train used extensively on the Belgian network. Being able to drive an M7 into Brussels-Midi during a busy rush hour, stop at platforms, follow Belgian signalling and then continue through the Belgian countryside would be a very different experience from many of the existing routes in Train Sim World. Another reason Belgium would be interesting is its railway infrastructure. Belgian railway signalling and electrification are different from those found in many other countries already represented in Train Sim World. Belgium primarily uses 3 kV DC electrification on its conventional network, while other parts of the network use different systems, especially the high-speed network. This creates interesting possibilities for gameplay and could introduce players to railway operations that they may not have experienced before. Belgium is also particularly interesting because of its position in Europe. The country is located between France, Germany, Luxembourg and the Netherlands and has railway connections with all of these countries. This means Belgian railways are not isolated from the rest of Europe. International railway traffic is a major part of the country's railway network. A Belgian route could therefore potentially include international operations as well. For example, players could see international trains travelling between Belgium and neighbouring countries, while still focusing on Belgian domestic services. This would make the route feel like an important part of the wider European railway network rather than simply another isolated regional route. There is also a lot of potential for freight operations. Belgium is an important European transport and logistics country, with major freight corridors connecting ports such as Antwerp with the rest of Europe. The Port of Antwerp-Bruges is one of Europe's most important ports, and the railway network around Antwerp contains a lot of interesting freight infrastructure. A Belgian Train Sim World route could therefore offer both passenger and freight gameplay. I also think Belgium would be a very attractive location visually. Belgian railway stations and towns have a distinctive architectural style, while the landscape changes significantly throughout the country. Players could experience dense urban areas around Brussels and Antwerp, smaller towns, industrial areas, forests, farmland and rural countryside, all within a relatively short distance. Another important point is the potential audience. Belgium itself has a large community of railway enthusiasts and Train Sim World players, but a Belgian route would also appeal to players in neighbouring countries such as the Netherlands, France, Germany and Luxembourg. Because Belgium is located in the centre of Western Europe, many European players would immediately recognize the stations, trains and railway environment. I also believe that Belgian players have been waiting for representation in modern train simulators. Seeing your own country's railway system recreated with the level of detail that Train Sim World is known for would be incredibly exciting. The attention to detail in your games is one of the reasons why I think Belgium could work particularly well. A Belgian route could also be a great opportunity for collaboration with SNCB/NMBS. Authentic trains, liveries, announcements, station signs and railway equipment would make the route feel extremely realistic. If licensing and technical limitations allow it, official collaboration could make the route even more special. I understand that creating a new route is a significant undertaking. There are many challenges involved, including licensing, research, modelling, sounds, signalling, rolling stock and route development. However, I believe Belgium would provide enough unique content to justify that investment. If creating a large Belgian route would be too ambitious initially, even a smaller route would be an excellent start. A route connecting Brussels with another major Belgian city could already provide a fantastic experience. From there, additional Belgian routes and trains could potentially be developed in the future. Some possible route concepts could include: Brussels – Antwerp Brussels – Ghent Brussels – Leuven – Liège Antwerp – Mechelen – Brussels Brussels – Charleroi Antwerp and the surrounding port area A Belgian high-speed route A Belgian intercity route combined with freight operations Of course, these are only suggestions, and I completely understand that the final choice would depend on technical feasibility, licensing and development priorities. What I would really like to emphasize is that Belgium has much more railway variety than its size might suggest. It has busy international stations, dense commuter traffic, intercity services, regional trains, high-speed rail, freight traffic, complex junctions and a unique railway infrastructure. This could make a Belgian route one of the most diverse European experiences available in Train Sim World. As a player, I would be extremely excited to see Belgian trains and infrastructure receive the same level of attention and detail that you have given to railway systems in other countries. I think it would be a great addition to the Train Sim World franchise and could introduce many players to a railway system they may not know much about. I hope you will consider Belgium for a future Train Sim World route or DLC. Even if it is not something that can happen immediately, I hope this suggestion can show you that there are players who would genuinely love to see Belgian railways represented in the game.
