Think I would go for Harlem. If you can dodge the AI snarl ups it's s good run and the rolling stock is good, too apart from the minor issue of the pilot/obstacle deflector scraping the track on one of the trains. Deserves to go a bit further.

For Germany, well Hagen really should run through to Siegen, per the original KRS route all those years ago. However wouldn't say no to something like the Wuppertal route getting another 30km or as postulated previously, Dresden to Riesa getting its branches or an extension to Leipzig.

However that's getting perilously close to wishlist territory rather than the original theme of, what do we think DTG are up to!

Well last year we got an extended SEHS, so it isnt beyond the realm of possibilities that they are going to repeat this pattern again.

Well, much as I would like to see Harlem extended to Southeast, DTG have said that extensions In and of themselves are not financially viable. But they could redo the entire route and add the extra stations, then offer an upgraded route more or less for free to existing owners as part of a package as they did with SEHS.

    It's unlikely.

I would rather see a revamped/refurbished LIRR, with upgraded signals, scenery and timetable.

What's most likely, I think, is a new freight route, possibly an NS coal route.

Personally, as long as we get the real NYT ( as opposed to the chimera we have presently ), I won't care if there isn't a new US route.

Sorry, but no, I disagree. This confirms nothing. It's nice to have some fun messages of DTG officials on threads, but if people start to interpret this behaviour as "confirming" the thread title while completely ignoring what exactly was the said in the answers, it will maybe decrease the amount of "fun" communication by said employees. And we don't want that. I'd rather want to know what locos Matt wants for the darjeeling line :D

I'd love a Southern Steam/Transition UK route as I always bang on about. :D Schools or a Bulleid Pacific belting down the mainline. Hell even something with a crossover with some of the LMS stock already in like SDR. Although thats a wishlist.

If I'm really honest though I can see UK being some sort of ECML route or something similar, seems like they're adding the stock for it imo as others have pointed out we are getting a bit of a network. I wouldn't be against it but I do prefer historic content, hence why I'm waiting on JT and that sceptically unofficially announced pack mentioned on the roadmap for what I assume is PFR

A modern day Hudson line would probably be more probable, but only in the similar sector that was done for TSC, from Grand Central and NYP to Croton-Harmon. The M7A would probably be reused from Harlem or subbed in (Unsure if the M3's run here) The P32AC-DM would be the new loco for the route (Both Amtrak and Metro North). New Shoreliner cars would need to be made, while Amtrak's equipment would just reuse the old Amfleets for the Empire Service and LSL (Though it would be nice to get proper Viewliners for the Lake Shore Limited) The Amtrak P32's would also have their unique Phase III Empire Service Paint (Which wasn't included in TSC) While the Metro North P32's could have the option of their New Haven and their newest "Beachball" Heritage Units along side their normal paint.

If there is any change I want to see to the route, it would be having the route extend to CSX's Oak Point yard along the NEC, so at least freight operations can run from the Hudson Line to there full stop (Unlike Harlem where they are just briefly seen.)
    marblehillhist9.jpg

One interesting scenario if DTG ever does add the Hudson line, is one where it simulates the short time Amtrak had their trains run to Grand Central due to work at Penn.

If it were ever ECML South, along with the 700/0, DTG must also have to include the 700/1 because these operate the Horsham-Peterborough services - moreover, with the addition of a /1 I hope it means a possibility for a TOD 4 updated London Commuter too.

I'd love to see HRR extended. Why? Because the current route between Duisburg to Bochum feels busy with lots of rolling stock, but is let down somewhat due to being woefully short in length - especially frustrating when you have lots of services for the awesome 101, but they are so quick! Thus, what the route should have been was Dusseldorf to Dortmund at minimum - plus HRR, along with a few other German routes, also need ICE services.

I do feel some of the German routes could be longer, they often don't make sense to me. HRR and RRO in particular. RSN stops in the middle and should have gone on to Siegen in my opinion, that would have been quite a long route I know.

Also Munich to Augsburg is missing the final few miles from what I can gather, of the S Bahn services which I don't understand why.

Yeah, I also feel the same. I've actually also made extension suggestions (in the form of a re-release like SEHS) for Ruhr-Sieg Nord and Hauptstrecke Rhein-Ruhr, if you'll forgive the self promotion :)

I think these two German routes could benefit the most from an extension. Dresden-Riesa could of course be extended to Leipzig, but the route is already one of the best as is, so for me there is no need for an upgrade (unless it also merges with Rapid Transit, giving that route acces to Leipzig Hbf's upper tracks and a much needed upgrade). RRO is just a difficult case, as it is short and could use an upgrade, but the question would be where to extend it. Extending to Köln would be possible, but would not provide much more S-bahn content and really would require new rolling stock aswell.

Well, "final kilometer:" for some reason the eastbounds all terminate at Hackerbrücke rather than continuing on a few hundred meters to the Hauptbahnhof underground platforms. If you mean the eastern S-Bahn routes out to Freising, the airport etc, that's way more than "a few miles."

Sorry Kilometres although I hadn't realised it was just one. Why they didn't go that extra KM then is strange.

A HRR Remastered and extended would do well i think. Like with proper night time illumination of stations.

However, but its an ICE2 on your picture. ;)

In principle, I am also in favor of extending the HRR to Düsseldorf and Dortmund. This route in particular is very busy and is ideal for IC/ICE journeys (including the airport train station in Düsseldorf). But the current version from Duisburg to Bochum is simply too short.

How feasible would it be to extend Koln - Aachen into Belgium ?

114 miles from what I just looked up , probably doable but an extension that size is very unlikely at least at present. Assuming you mean of course Brussels not just the border.

I think Liege would be manageable as no Belgium trains would be needed on HSL3, but it would probably need Thalys PBKA's adding to add some variety and more gameplay. Which if DTG where thinking of adding more French routes would be a sensible addition given the family connection to the TGV's

I think to add to the doable side, I think it can be shown by Kassel Würzburg, that a route just say above 100miles and limited stations, and at least above about 95mph for a very large majority speed limits and no extensive scenic details or multiple track junctions too often and the route will be most likely possible in terms of route details.

Here's a curveball (take a breath as it won't happen yet) but what if Dtg followed xbox and publically set expectations there's no more new 1st party releases for gen 8 as part of their summer release to focus on gen 8

Microsoft must have more than 30% on older consoles. There was also a 1335% increase in demand noted in some places following the announcement. Starfield has driven it up too

You could probably find areas of America where there are vast miles of nothingness, anything across the prairies for one. However it’s going to be boring, even more so than SKW. For the UK and most of Lower Europe forget it. Other than the routes in the Scottish Highlands or maybe the Cambrian Coast or Central Wales, there are very few routes that travel through unpopulated areas for any length of time. Even the ones I mentioned are relatively low speed rural services with a handful of trains a day.

I don't know anything about German stuff so I'm gonna guess at another route with a mixture of Freight and Passenger lol.

UK.... I don't think will be third rail, not yet. I think it'll be somewhere in the south west, along the coast maybe. Exeter to Paignton and Plymouth.

USA, Will be yet another Freight route in the middle of nowhere.

And as always there will be a colossal disaster when it launches, maybe all DLCs will be inaccessible again, or the game crashes on launch etc etc.

Well I doubt they could trump losing the ability to save the game for nearly two months, following the launch of TSW3!

Often with german content they first release a loco DLC to existing route and then it comes as a feature in next new route, so we could get something heavily involving Vectron.

So, how about Dresden - Schöna Grenze? The route is very busy, offers the rest of S1 Meißen-Dresden-Schöna starting at Dresden Hbf (I don't think TSW could manage joining this with DRA), local diesel trains for over-border traffic, heavy freight traffic with layovers and loco changes and distant lines to Czechia stopping at Bad Schandau for crew changes (can be simulated by Vectron and IC wagen even without czech liveries). The route is very overloaded for its capacity, so it offers a good potential for not all-green timetable.

It's quite a scenic route by itself with Elbtal and Königstein, while even in today's state it preserves a lot of oldschool feeling with old station inventory and Hl signals only being replaced with Ks at the very moment.

Actually, the emptiest areas of the US are in the northernmost states. Central Maine ( where I have lived ) is extremely remote from civilization and Alaska, well, we can't imagine how vast an area that is, and very few people live there.
But, if there were rail lines in these areas, they would be scenically spectacular, if that's what you like. Boring for some, of course.

And, funnily enough, the areas you mention, the Cambrian Coast and the Welsh Marches, would be high on my list of wanted routes in TSW3.

I do think the 3 routes will include the 700, Acela, and the new German loco on the road map. I don’t see them making the Acela just for two routes and definitely don’t see them making the 700 just for SEHS.

I hope so so much that the UK route is the ECML.. and i hope even more it would be Peterborough to Doncaster/York and not London King's Cross.. that's the one single route i would love to become a reality in tsw

Agreed, for the Acela, from what we know, DTG does not want to bring unbranded stuff to the route, so for now, Baltimore-Washington, or Trenton to Philly is out of the question. The only feasible option I can think of that I think many may want is the New York to New Haven route

I agree. Also for the 700 it has to be a route that they have all required licenses and it depends the year is set. Which I would believe to be 2019. This new route would include the 700/1 and the 700/0 would layer in.

I’d be surprised if the new routes feature the 700 or Acela as a main gameplay component. If it was then they would have to supply it with the route which would render selling it as a separate DLC a bit pointless.

For example with a modern London to Peterborough ECML south, you would have virtually no stopping services if you didn’t own the 700 DLC. They can use the 387 of course but they only cover a few diagrams a day to Peterborough.
If however it was set around 2017 when they just started to filter in and it could be substituted into a timetable full of 365 units then I could understand that. I just don’t think they will be the main rolling stock on one of the new routes.

So the easiest way: The ICE1 has a discontinuous red stripe with DB logo on the front, the ICE2 has a continuous red stripe.

The 1er also has 2 power cars at each end. The 2er has only one power car and a control cab.

    ICE1

When extensions were mentioned I immediately thought of GWE going to Bristol or even Cardiff but then they would have to do the whole route and if that happened I would take the plunge and buy it along with TSW3, lol. Sad it will never happen though.

Exactly. There are some great ideas and suggestions in this thread and others like it but DTG isn't going to implement 99.9% of them so for the most part they are pipe dreams and getting one's hopes up will only lead to disappointment.

DTG, like other game development companies in today's business climate, is less concerned with creating the best possible product than it is with making the absolute most amount of money in the shortest time for the least expenditures. In this kind of environment it's ok if the product is just 'satisfactory' and customers complain and voice their dissatisfaction as long as enough of them buy the product.

When I first signed up here I complained a lot about bugs and inaccuracies but the reality is that DTG is going to do what they are going to do and there is very little I can do to influence the direction of the game or which bugs get fixed. There are very few decent rail simulators available and TSW/TSC, flaws and all, are really the only ones worth playing and until a competitor with a superior product comes along or businesses practices change the game won't change much either.

I get why people are frustrated with TSW's sometimes very annoying shortcomings but life is too short to spend a lot of time and energy on the forum impotently complaining about it. YMMV of course and this is just my opinion.

Was it possible that the UK route was Alan Thomson?

And if it were his, since he is a specialist in ECML and WCML, could be one of these two routes?

You could always just not buy it. You don't need to play train simulators...

Possibly, but likely to be with modern plastic units rather than the classic traction of yesteryear which actually had character and beastly sound (HSTs obviously not included). ;) Seriously though, I’d take modern if naught else were to be had.

Settle to Carlisle says hello! ;)

Northern 158's and more 66's if done modern, personally I like to see it set earlier, give me mid to late 80's with 31's, 47's and D200 or twist my arm and go steam if you must!

Wildly speculative but hey go big or go home...
    I'll get me coat.

Anyway my money's on Ireland and the Listowel and Ballybunion Railway :D;):o

Yes always had a soft spot for the S&C and much of the loco or DMU stock required already exists in game and somewhere to really thrash the Jubilee. As a fan of the SIAM Carlisle 1973 traffic simulation I would love to see a detailed representation of the Carlisle area including the avoiding lines, Dentonholme Yards and of course the Kingmoor complex. Could be awesome especially if we got control of hump shunting. Loads of industrial sidings in the area to serve and the power station was still operational and rail served at that point.
