Well I wouldn't bet on it being close enough for release yet, considering no images show the train actually on the line. I bet modelling work and setup in the game might still be ongoing. Model aside we know nothing of the state of the simulation or sounds, for example.

Also if they plan to include custom japanese road traffic and passenger models, that will also take some time. Hopefully DTG helps them out with asian passengers, considering DTG has their own character artist, as far as I know.

    Well there’s the $64k question…

Next year sometime, possibly. But I wouldn’t hold yer breath.

The route is large and it is created by 2+ - Chinese, so the release will have to wait a long time)

If Union Workshop / DTG could make a Japan-based routes to a similar degree as Densha De Go: Hashire Yamanote-sen! I'd be very happy! The only things about Densha De Go is the lack of an external camera, the lack of a realistic cab view, and the very arcade style gameplay (which I still enjoy, though I like simulator style gameplay better). Beyond that the game is great, and since it has JR licensing (something DTG likely will never procure), the announcements, both automated and spoken, are great! I hope UW delves further into Japanese routes following Tadami Line.

Densha De Go Final was probably the closest to a real simulation, in that you really had to mess up to get disqualified. Probably my favourite was the first “Professional “, having to unlock the timetable runs offered a sense of achievement. Though I enjoyed the Nagoya collection and the tram spin off they did, too.

Sadly, we didn't get any news from the route on yesterday's roadmap.

But here is this screenshot of some 3D modelling from CNAurora on Weibo from yesterday. Looks to be a refined model of the brake hose valve from the front of the train.
    upload_2025-3-4_18-0-5.jpeg

New model is the pink/brown on the right. Gray one on the left is the old, clearly the same as the one on the KiHa 40 render we got to see last year.
    upload_2025-3-4_18-8-30.png

It's not much for now, but at least it looks like they are refining the model with greater accuracy - which is good news, because this render we've seen so far is quite a bit inaccurate.

I've long held the opinion that DTG announces dlc projects way too early, before they're even a real thing as opposed to a gleam in the eye. The Class 104, Tadami Line, HIS' Santa Fe Pack, even the Manchester Commuter have been on the Roadmap it seems since dinosaurs walked the Earth.

They should wait until these projects are 3 or 4 months from release, as best as they can estimate, before putting them on the Roadmap.

That way nothing is lost if anything turns out to be smoke and mirrors.

    I disagree.

Roadmap is supposed to inform you on what is being worked on and when to expect it - even if it is further away.

If you only reveal something a few months before release, then it's not a roadmap, but simply a teaser or announcement.

Well the Roadmap certainly needs to more cautious and less gushing with more distant stuff, particularly from third parties where production flow is largely outside DTG control, other than the odd nagging memo.

Agreed. I know this is likely an unpopular take, but the perfect roadmap to me was the very first one. A simple overview of everything in production no matter at which stage.

I guess this is going to be a really slow route?

The KiHa 40 DMU has a top speed of 60mph, so if this route is going to be 55 miles long with multiple stops, I'm guessing that a full-length run is going to take well over an hour?

I am looking forward to the route, but seems like it's going to be quite the time sink.

As far as I remember, scenarios on the same route in TSC are divided on half and are a little under an hour long, so yes, the full run will be over an hour and half.

    It is a slow route, 60 km/h I believe.

I'd be very surprised if people complain it's too short that's for sure lol

28 stations on the line too

Basically Niddertalbahn x 2.5 but with somewhat more in the way of mountain scenery.

I hope those screenshots are an indication things are getting a bit closer to release.

There’s the TSC version in the meantime but a bit flawed, as I may have mentioned previously at least one of the scenarios bugs out with a station stop that doesn’t pick up.

This message was a month ago but Manchester Airport Commuter used to be on that 0-3 months away part of the roadmap, so I don’t think that’s DTG’s fault but rather ATS.

Is "Shisa Kanko" mandatory on this route?

Might prevent DTG Matt from doing another Knebworth, if he's driving on the preview stream.

Yes, actually, Shisa Kanko (ja: 指差喚呼) is mandatory for all railway companies in Japan, all train drivers and other railways workers in Japan must proceed it.
    Shisa Kanko looks like this

PS: similar procedure is also mandatory for train drivers and railways workers in both South Korea and China.

Yes, as long as it's honest about progress. If it "just started production" then say that.
Admit it'll be months or years before we see anything.
As a project leader I can tell you it's better to undersell and overperform than the opposite.
You can always move something UP on the calendar and people will be happy.
You just never want to have to move something BACK on the calendar.
    The old "Scotty" maxim ;-)

Tadami now pushed back to TSW6, hope the devs are doing fine, but they've been quiet on any new announcements for awhile now. Wonder if they ran into any snags, especially being such a small team....
