Absolutely agree with you both. I surely couldn't imagine DTG's logic of finally having decided on the much-requested 700 for TSW if they couldn't/wouldn't have it for London Commuter at all - the train's real-life home route of all things! I get certain arguments that optimisation, timetable updates (especially for London Commuter's) and any potential TOD 4 upgrade would take time a lot of work - but I'd certainly have this instead of a brand-new route, especially considering there has been many new routes lately anyway.

I do remain optimistic though and hopeful for a /1 which would be key - obviously they (hopefully) can't have this as another separate DLC loco when there's already the /0, but, if the /1 came with a brand-new TOD 4 version of London Commuter, then that I think would be fair.

The whole idea of London Commuter never getting TOD 4 (even without the 700) just seems really odd considering its popularity regardless.

I suspect the new UK route will have the 700/1 that will layer into the BML which would also get an update. Speculation of coarse. I don’t see DTG making one of the most requested loco (EMU) just to release it for one route (SEHS). It will probably be similar to what was done with the Acela but with more since the 700 is in numerous routes

You are correct and if they were to add the existing Class 700/0 to BML then you get access to Three Bridges TMD where they are maintained alongside 700/1. Also the ability to run Brighton Bedford services via Gatwick and Luton Airports.

The Class 700 also does run on the sehs section from Rainham to Dartford as well. I'm not sure why only including it there is a problem. DTG have never promised that a 700 would be a dlc for London-Brighton. BML can be quite unstable and for those that will say, "I never had a crash", wouldn't you think the reason why dtg aren't adding a 700 to bml is due to potential game stability issues especially given the issues of this route particularly on current and last gen consoles when the route originally came out along with lower end pc's? It seems DTG are playing it safe.

Also wouldn't it be better if they made a standalone route down the line in which you can do a full line run rather than giving up your train in the middle of the line as is common with so many tsw routes?

It is really disappointing that the TL 700/1 aren't going to make it to BML, which is by far one of the most popular routes and the aforementioned DLC is the most asked content for this route. I do really hope that Dovetail Games sort the memory issue of old gen consoles or make the DLC exclusive to PC & next gen consoles. BML does deserve updates considering the sheer number of people who still run the route consisting of a major part in the community.

my theory is that the 700 will layer onto the new uk route (i speculate ecml south) which would then come with the /1 variant too, seen similarly with the acela and new usa routes. Then as this would probably be a summer release we could see what happened with us content, a huge bundle with upgraded BML, New Uk route and Class 700 all as one. once again, just a speculation but i feel it could just happen with any luck

There's certainly no complaint of having the 700 with SEHS because it's realistic - the same principle applies for London Commuter, accept having a modern BML without the 700 is, conversely, very unrealistic. Of course, I understand from DTG's point of view that they never promised a 700 for BML but you can surely understand the many frustrations of the community when they finally announce the 700 to TSW, but not for London Commuter - it doesn't make any logical sense. It would be like having the Acela just for NY-Trenton but not for Boston too. Why should the Acela be in two TSW routes it serves in real life, yet not the same for the 700? Fair enough memory optimisation etc, but it would at least be nice if DTG said they would consider such considering both the popularity of London Commuter and the 700 - this very petition thread for the 700 with London Commuter has 41 likes at the time of writing.

The acela can be in two routes because those routes don't have memory stability problems. London commuter has had issues with memory and it seems DTG don't want to take a risk. The same people that are asking for the 700 to bml would probably complain if the route starting crashing.

It's frankly better to have the ability to at least play with the Class 700 rather than not having it at all. I get why there are many that want it to be in bml but it's just not in the cards at this time

Not having any real love for modern trains (apart from maybe the new TfW Flirts) doesn’t bother me one way or t’other. However in terms of petitions, have to relate mine regarding pushing the Peak Forest route south to Derby went nowhere, despite a majority result in favour. At times DTG can be a little bit arrogant and a little intransigent.

The optimistic part of me believes that at some point down the line, BML may receive an update similar to that of SEHS. Something TOD 4 and maybe an extension further up the Thameslink to London Bridge or something. If that happened it would most likely include a 700/1.

As has been said, there are no current plans for this but I hope it does happen. It's echoed all across this and other threads that having a Class 700 in game and yet not having any BML layer is incredibly disappointing and I do hope this is addressed (even if I do end up having to fork out more money).

Unrelated but, for anyone still in doubt about it, 700/0s do indeed run on BML. I'm sat on one right now with a numb arse.

Yep, not sure where this myth came from that 8 car /0s don't run regularly on the BML. Here is a the departure board right now for Three Bridges showing three 8 car Thameslink departures.

Trying to find some positivity here, but JD did say "not currently planned". Now hark back to last summer when DTG threw a curve ball with the SEHS extension; so with a slight stretch of the imagination this "not currently planned" statement could be smoke and mirrors for a rejigged BML in this summer's update with a 700/1 and perhaps some of the branches extended. Coming to you soon in a leak via a DTG employee's accidentally revealed desktop during a stream. You heard it here first! ;)

Indeed, and that's why DTG DTG Matt DTG JD need to consider the /0 for London Commuter to at least represent some Bedford-Brighton services as an absolute minimum regardless - there's simply no excuse for not having just a few of these, obviously memory/optimisation-permitting. While SEHS services will be great (although Rainham services are technically not completely new for TSW considering these were with the 375/465 in the previous version of SEHS), nonetheless it would be better to have this much-anticipated, brand-new loco DLC for a longer, high-speed mainline with London Commuter too.

spot on and these 700/0s have been running there since 2016 when they were first introduced to run Brighton to Bedford via Luton & Gatwick airports

Personally I rather wait for DTG to upgrade BML with new lighting and memory optimisations before anything new is added to it. A full thameslink timetable would be much better than a handful of Bedford - Brighton services operated by the less common subclass. As long as it does happen at some point in the near future, not forgotten about in several years time.

Yes immersion is what it's all about. TSW3 needs to take a page out of TSC's book, I know that game has been around a lot longer, but just look at the variety of traffic and overlays that game achieves. I'm not a fan of single train routes because they rarely exist in real life except on quiet branch lines and Subways perhaps. DTG need to concentrate on some busy lines and build up to get a complete picture of the entire traffic rather than jumping from one line to another new one straight away. I'd like to see termini stations well represented with all the classes that should be there, especially places like London Victoria and Paddington, Glasgow etc. A good example of a lack of traffic ruining immersion is their recent NY release which felt more like some quiet branch line than a busy route to a major city. Guys speak to your friends over at TSC for some tips...

With the announcement of class 700/0 It would be nice if possible for DTG to add chairing cross, Blackfriars, Cannon Street and London Victoria for SEHS.

Of course, I'd very much be happier with this instead. However, my worry is that if a /1 takes years, or never came to TSW at all, it could mean potentially never having any TL services for London Commuter. Thus, would it not be more sensible for DTG to have a handful of initial /0 services - considering how much anticipation for the much-requested 700 has been for the game - until a possible /1; moreover, if the latter came, it'd result in a more realistic timetable for London Commuter anyway with both subclass' instead of just the one.

But nevertheless, TOD 4 and just the /1 would be very welcome for the route so fingers crossed DTG acknowledge the huge amount of feedback.

It's up to DTG really, they know more precisely what their future plans are in the coming years than we do. I'm sure some folks at DTG want to see the Class 700 on BML just as much as us, it's just finding the time to make that happen. Having the Class 700/0 on SEHS might even be a way of getting the 700 in-game sooner than planned, with a later release of the Class 700/1 on something like ECML South.

Judging by the latest roadmap, my bet would be that attention is being focused on improving Spirit of Steam at the moment to coincide with the release of Peak Forest, then attention may turn to BML with an upcoming Summer/Autumn release of this new mystery UK route. They may even be planning to give some of the more recent German routes a lighting upgrade as well.

Was doing a bit of trainspotting earlier this afternoon to see Class 66707 (named Sir Sam Fay) which operated a Newhaven to Acton service. However, during this time, I also saw a few Thameslink Class 700/0s (012 and 050) going to/from Brighton.

After adding 700 to SEHS I have there more problems with fps than on BML, only place where BML is running worse is around London Victoria and 700 don't even go there so I don't see a problem.

What you said here just confirms that consoles are holding this game back. There is a reason for more complex simulator games to not get released on consoles and believe me or not but if this game would never came out there, we would get longer routes, as now they are getting shorter and shorter. I wouldn't mind shorter routes if those weren't so expensive especially considering price of BML on it's release.

I'm definetly for getting 700 on BML and if DTG really have such a problem, why not make a seperate reduced timetable like one on SEHS?
Also to note, we still didn't get rush hour passenger system which this route was advertised with cause performance issues (there is mod enabling rush hour on BML, and it's still running mostly smoothly with only exception being Victoria station).

To those who don't want to wait:
Mod for rush hour passengers on BML - http://trainsim.cz/?mod=article&showid=2506
Mod for 700 timetable for BML (not so much services but better than nothing) - http://trainsim.cz/?mod=article&showid=2691

For the umpteenth, time, the limitation on route length is not and has never been memory or processor performance, or 8th-gen consoles!

The limiting factor is developer time. In theory DTG could do the entire Trans-Siberian Railway, and PS4s could run it. But they aren't going to spend three years making it.

Ok, so not including route length argument, other points still stand.
Also main thing what switch to TSW3 did was increasing the price of later released DLCs, quite a few of which had less content than DLCs released for TSW2020 and TSW2. I don't see a point why BCL should be more expensive than SEHS or BML were on release day.

To be fair, tsc had been selling dlc for the same price before tsw3 prices rose. Due to inflation and everything, dtg had to raise prices. There's many costs in game development

Inflation, rising costs of electricity and other utilities, rising wage demands, rising costs of insurances, rising costs of rates etc, etc, running a business has got a fair bit more expensive in the last twelve months or so as well as running your personal life. DLC for TSC was £25 over ten years ago so I think it is harsh to moan at one price increase in over ten years!

They don't stand. Consoles are not holding this game back. East Croydon is a busy station and adding the 700s would almost certainly have some players getting a crash.

The reduced timetable on sehs didn't do much. All it did was remove the tgv, the freight cars at hoo Junction and the railtour services. Frankly the tgv shouldn't have been on that route in the first place but the reduced timetable on sehs didn't make a huge impact

Worst problem I ever had at East Croydon were fps sometimes dropping to 50 and that's with mods i mentioned earlier. Considering those are mods and not official game content I would expect DTG to make it without any problems. After all if mods can run without crashing a game why game core couldn't?

Games with complex simulations always needed powerful machines to run smoothly, for those who don't own high-end PCs, it's their problem not the game devs. Of course developers can try optimize the game but it's not always possible.

If it is still such a problem why not make a current timetable and a seperate one with class 700? Those who experience crashes could always run previous timetable without problems.

there are some mods where u can drive the class 700 on bml but i would like to see that this route gets official updates and a extension
for me the busiest uk route where i have at most fun because the traffic around is amazing and also the sound of the cabs.
also for that amount of traffic it runs nearly without any stutter and stable fps.
