I’d even take just a view of the outside of the train so you can see the doors, then it doesn’t necessarily need to be platform specific.

I think I have seen this before in one of the recent releases, maybe the Glossop train?

Yes, this is also with the wipers on the Glossop line.

Funny enough I was on a 700 going from LB to Brighton yesterday, now I'm going to grab it and see how it sounds compared to real thing!

Does anyone know what the fans are under the carriage. before I do a review just want to get on the information. I checked the other versions (TSC DTG and AP) but never see them actually come on

A tutorial video by paul.pavlinovich explains recovery from all types of emergency stops.

Watch the whole thing if you can, but safety system recovery is from 6:25 to 10:00. Apparently, for a AWS violation, the enforced wait varies; more egregious violations require a longer wait. Very immersive!

All in all I am very satisfied with the Class 700 add-on. Works fine and does what it is supposed to do.

Since the installation, however, the SEH service counter is a bit off. Total number of services is still at 710 and some figures for the individual locos just don't make sense.

Also, the SEH update necessary for implementing the 700 would have been a nice opportunity to remove the artefacts and holy apparitions in tunnels.

But overall thumbs up to DTG. Looking forward to the 700's AC future.

If you're referring to the Ufo/car alarm sound then yes, that is indeed how they sound irl.

Given that the BML scenarioplanner doesnt even have proper thameslink paths with all the stops or some stations not even at all like balcombe, a realistic Thameslink run can just be archieved by DTG putting it into service mode.
I think there is only the right stopping pattern for Thameslink Services that terminate at Gatwick, Brighton Bedford runs for example have missing stops when you select any of the paths starting at Brighton.

Ill make a few TL scenarios for BML anyway on saturday, but the limitation still bothers me

During regenerative braking the electricity produced is returned to the network via the third rail or overhead lines. If it can’t be i.e. the network isn’t receptive its passed through the brake resistors and converted into heat.
The fans are to draw air over the brake resistors to keep them cool, so only run when needed.
    Hope that helps!

To my knowledge at least, the uk desiro's that make this sound are the class 350, 360, 380, 444, 450, 700, 707 and 717.

I’m going to give some pretty in depth (ngl, basically nit picking) feedback as all i want is the best experience for everyone, and having set up these trains many times and spent probably thousands of hours on them, i know them pretty well.

One of the ‘main’ issues is the volume of the sounds, both inside and outside the train. The sounds themself are great, just need turned up a fair amount. For example, the brake hissing noise is very loud and somewhat obnoxious in reality whereas in game it’s rather quiet. The motors themself are about the right volume on dc, maybe needing turned up a small amount, but they feel fairly quiet compared to the real one when on AC. When travelling in the interior of the train, the running sounds and motors are also extremely quiet when in reality they’re definitely a fair bit more audible. In the cab, everything sounds pretty much perfect, apart from again being too quiet. The lack of the very loud AC transformer buzz when put into forwards or reverse is also something that shouldn’t be too hard to implement. There’s also a general high pitched buzz in the first class coaches when moving which is unmistakable irl, as it gets on your nerves :D The depot horn is pretty quiet when in reality it is actually also quite loud. It would also be nice if the B key was linked to this rather than the signal as the signal bell is pretty much never used in general service as they are DOO. There’s also no ‘beep beep’ sound when the gsmr registers the head code. Another issue i’ve found with the gsmr is that it doesn’t register if you set up the train after spawning on foot, and it only works if you spawn in the service from timetable mode.

The lack of posters/advertisements throughout the train does make it feel very clinical, which tbf yes they do feel a bit like that irl, but having purely greys and blues does feel a bit bland. Even if they were made up ads like seen in train sim classic i think it would definitely be an improvement. As for the carriage maps, i understand they may be licensed but again i think some replica maps could be put in to fill their place, removing the blankness of the interior.

I feel as though the combined power/brake control is probably quite a bit stiff as in reality as i’ve seen a driver in here say and having felt them irl they are a lot more lose/free flow feeling so you can go up to full power much faster than you currently can in game for example.

One other very small thing which only people who have set up a 700 before will notice is when doing the static brake test, or when putting into emergency through the power handle, the beeping noise it makes happens a few seconds after clicking it into emergency, rather than when you take it out of emergency and into normal brakes as it currently does in game.

One very small thing is the texture/colour/brightness (however you want to put it) of the DRA. In reality it looks a lot more like a darkish red with a lamp behind it, whereas in game it looks sort of pink and just generally not realistic. (I told you i was nit picking) Here’s a side by side comparison below. C641B152-33E3-4D2F-9849-C5D53B8E8193.jpeg
I think in general, all these switches/lights in the cab are too bright and don’t look realistic. (Shown below) F4B9D668-C6DF-49A8-B379-A4925C81D40A.jpeg

The big windscreen is undoubtedly one of the best things about this train, but being the huge size that it is, you can’t see the edges of it, making it seem as if there isn’t a window at all. If there could be a very slight dirt effect across the windscreen where the wipers don’t reach (like reality) then it wouldn’t feel like there’s nothing there.

The HMI screen is great and is pretty spot on, apart from a few small things. The real one has a much darker contrast than the one in game, which is pretty noticeable. A second small thing is the missing digital ‘clock’ above the right hand side of the speedometer. Thirdly, the grid-like look where buttons would be on the in game HMI aren’t visible at all in reality, making it look sort of unfinished and is if there’s stuff missing. I’ll show a side by side comparison below and you can see the differences for yourself. A1674DD1-DBD0-408B-B143-198457997D4C.jpeg

When putting the train into emergency brake on the second to the left TMS screen the bar shoots up beyond the limit, looking pretty silly. Now i could be wrong in saying this is incorrect but it doesn’t look right at all (shown below) 0629CD21-48FC-45D5-BF67-FDB3A31E3430.jpeg

I did say i was going to nit pick, and that i did. Overall this train is probably one of the best trains we’ve ever had in tsw, if not the best. Being a huge fan of them in reality and now in game, of course i am slightly biased but my god is it good. I hope a member of the dtg reads this and sees what is possible in terms of fixes. Apologies for being overly harsh :D

Than you for that information. That helps a lot. Not sure if they are operational in the game. DTG Matt maybe can let us know if this is operational in game. Again thank you and agree this has to be one of the best Loco to date.

Pretty cool interactions with all the DLC on SEHS. Just had the chance to get held at red while pulling a 375 with the 37 due to a Thameslink service departing Rainham.

Just finished the run and got a shiny bronze medal :), being 7 minutes late as I was chasing yellows till the end. Too bad that these interactions, and every new layer affect the previous "gameplay" experience also in negative ways.

You do know that fixing bugs can be a time consuming process. First they look at what's wrong and try to repro it. If successful, they then have to figure out what's causing it and create a fix which goes through testing. If it passes, it's on road to release. If it doesn't, back to the drawing board. Dtg can't just release a patch in a single day unless it's been prepared and known before the route released. But depending on the complexity of the bug, it'll take a few days or even a week or 2.

I hope you don't mind, but I have edited your post so that it is more readable and gets your point across more succinctly.

The Class 700/0 is a great train to drive. However I played a service for almost 50 minutes and found that the final signal before Dartford station displayed a red aspect. There was a train ahead at the station which hadn’t moved after 15 minutes.

A similar issue occurred on the Harlem Line and I suspect this is related

It occurred just after 8am on a service at Dartford. Other people have told me they have experienced the same issue.

I am disappointed that the Dovetail Q&A Team did not pick this up as the Class 700 is one of the best releases of 2023. I believe that this error completely ruins the DLC and amounts to theft from the hard-core fan base. This error has made me scared to play the game in case it happens again and I am embarrassed because it happened while I was live streaming the game to up to 46 viewers.

I would be grateful if my comments could be passed on to the team responsible at DTG and that a patch could be arranged at your earliest convenience. I understand that it takes time to investigate issues and the resultant patches take time to be tested and released and that it is not possible to fix issues immediately.

I would be pleased to hear the experiences of anyone else who has also seen similar issues, including whether the issue occurred on console or Steam.

In general, I am satisfied with the train. But I feel a sense of reduced mileage (I really want to bring the train to London Bridge). There are some minor comments on the sound, but I think that with the release of the final "Class 700 Sound Mod" from ItsYa165 we will have a great result.

I am waiting for the appearance of class 700 on the Brighton line and a new route with its participation.

So happy to finally have the much-anticipated Class 700 in TSW. As there has already been much feedback in this thread already - which I do agree a majority with - I won't go into much repeating detail, however there's a few things I will still give some brief feedback on.

Sounds: While I'd rather still very much have the Class 700 than not at all, I do find the DC sounds a little frustrating. For example, at high-speed, the sound of the train passing by doesn't sound realistic at all - in-game I think it almost sounds like a 395 which is baffling. Meanwhile, agree with others that the sounds overall need to be a lot louder. On the final subject of sound, does anyone find the cab rattling noise a bit annoying - certainly can hear it more when the windows are shut.

Route: I know that DTG have explained their reasoning, but while SEHS is a great route, the amount of DLC already for it and, as others have echoed, the slow section of the Dartford-Rainham services particularly between Chatham and Strood especially, gets a little repetitive - thus I think this now warrants even more justification for DTG to really try and get the 700 working with London Commuter, it's actual home route and a proper high-speed main line with a plethora of long/short and faster/slower services - plus would like to see an AC route and 12-car /1 too. I know that London Commuter and the 700 would be a lot of painstaking work, but I really think DTG should invest the time into such a project as a priority if able as could you imagine a TOD 4-updated BML with the 700 to the existing timetable - would be truly epic! Moreover, scenario planner for London Commuter (and ECW too) is so limited in it's current form it's pretty pointless when you can't even serve stations like Balcombe (which is majority TL only in real life) etc.

    Picture taken by me
Really want to see the Class 700 with London Commuter as it's very synonymous with the BML

There's only so many services you can do with the 700 from Rainham to Dartford before you get really bored so it definitely needs a bigger route

No you dont. Just press open door. Its a two step operation. The door releases and starts to move a slight pause then it goes back on its own. Its supposed to do that.

it just stays their at the first half of the animation if you press it once (SX) I left it for 10 seconds or more and it just stayed until I gave it a second click (cab buttons not controller input)

give me a few minutes (10 ish) and I’ll make a YouTube video to show it

Edit: video done but uploads taking its time, I’ll add a link below, when it appears just say if the link doesn’t work.

edit 2: done, here it is

For me model is great, lacking some internal posters like most units though. My big negative with this was the DC sounds, to me they were not as good as they could have been, I know some difficulties were had regarding the AP sound set for them which mean they couldn't be used. Therefore I highly recommend the PC only sound mod for those that are interested, night and day difference already, even with it still being worked on and improved! Amazing work by ItsYa165, honestly DTG should just pay this guy or hire them!

Another fun train to drive and up there with the class 323 as the best in TSW. The only difference being the sounds are not quite there with the class 700. Just needs some tweaking. The horn should be a lot louder in external views, for example.

As someone who has all the DLC and buys on day one it was nice to have my loyalty rewarded with the discounted price of £7.53 too. Not expected but very much appreciated, thanks.

When you turn off the regenerative brakes, the energy goes through the resistors (rheostatic braking), im sure calling matt takes longer than just try it quickly. Didnt pay attention to the fans.

tbh, the horns volume outside is spot on if not a slight bit louder than reality, they’re very soft horns

Page appears to be unreachable at present, obviously lots of people grabbing this mod. Normally I'm quite sparing when it comes to using mods but I think for the 700 I might make an exception.

It is irksome that the community can come out with a drastic improvement over the supplied sounds when, as indicated earlier, the DTG audio guy should have been living, eating and sleeping 700 sounds until the job was done to satisfaction.

It would be nice to get an official DTG (DTG JD DTG Matt ) response to the concerns being raised in the thread, not just about sound levels and quality but other issues like PIS not loading after a save and stop marker radius. That would go some way to maintaining goodwill - particularly if there is acknowledgement that things need improving and a patch is being worked on.

ive seen/ drove one stating “West Hampstead Thameslink” as it’s on board PIS

edit: if you’re wanting the service it’s the first or second Rainham to Dartford service in journey mode after the page on the tutorial

If anyone wants to make a comparison of the sounds in the cab of a real 700 and the game, Ben Elias has posted on YouTube some of runs he made a number of years ago, mostly on the Brighton to London and north. One thing I noticed right away was the AWS is quieter in the DTG version then in the real train. This also translates to an overall quieter ride in the game version.

Some animation stuttering but the 700 is nice. This game is pretty cool. A nice contrast from all the games with just wall to wall shooting. We have more than enough shooting here in the U.S.

Like it so far, aside from the already mentioned quiet audio.
Using this in AC mood is like a completely different train, really need a route for it to properly stretch it's legs.
Really does need to be added to BML though, and BML could also use the TOD4 upgrade at the same time.

It can't be added to the BLM because of amount of AI and if they add the 700 to the BLM it will crash the game. They will need to make the 12 car version which has 2 different carriages compared to the 8 car version.

I ain’t sure on the variant of coaches, but my suggestion would be to copy the timetable then remove the 375 from one (just say the timetable is set when they aren’t on that divergence) and add in the 700, that should lose the memory constrain of having more stock leaving just the job to get the timetable correct. That’s my theory anyways.

I know, I was just referring to using the 8 car.

It might crash it on a Gen 8 console. It's certainly not going to crash it on PC with people with good hardware. They can make a separate more intensive timetable that allows everything for those that can handle it.

I've got 12GB of VRAM, and 64GB of RAM. There are zero memory issues for me, the future of the game shouldn't be getting held back due to old hardware restraints.

Right, it should be BML since Thames Link runs train from Brighton to London and north. There we still have to deal with the third rail power.
