what is it you want it to transition over on to mate will have a look at post the transition over to you as i have the weather working in a few scenarios i made no problem.
I don’t think there would be any issue with you starting it with medium mist then putting an APSWEP time marker down to kick in say 5 seconds after scenario start to transition to thick mist then place your pass or time marker wherever to transition to thick fog. It may well be that it’s a bug, but it would certainly appear that the thick mist starting point followed by a transition is what’s causing the problem. IIRC somewhere in the manual (think it’s near the transition bit) there is the caveat that some of the transitions might need some experimenting with. I suspect this is one of those
If you want it to start with one of those then transition to thick mis select one of these ones For your next transistion you then find a transition from either High cloud (mist medium), Fog light, Fog Medium, Fog thick. and select your next weather. Make sure whatever one you select has the little X in the box as that will allow the slow transition to happen rather than the weather suddenly changing instantly. Also as per the manual make sure the arrow is in the track the player train will pass over if you are having it change when the player train passes over it which will trigger the even. Using those weather above your next weather transition must be AFTER the time frame in the box otherwise the transistion wont work.
Hi All I seem to be getting what looks like a seam in the sky, has anyone seen anything like this before? This is in a route where I have applied the time of day files manually to, and the weather pattern is 'AP Overcast'. It goes across the whole length of the sky and you can see where it is mirrored so I am presuming it is the cloud texture, in the middle screenshot there is one running at 90degree but is nowhere near as noticeable. I realize this is not a default route that the weather pack is applied to, but as the manual states, you just need to copy the TOD files over, but still I wonder if that is the issue. Route: Adriana County (Workshop) - Marias Pass is where this route references its TOD files so that is where I have copied them to Scenario: Canadian Granger [GWD322] (Workshop) Weather Pattern: AP Overcast
Is that from a fresh reload of the simulator? This error only occurs if you use a non-AP weather pattern or AP weather pattern with wind during the same Train Simulator session.
Have you restarted the sim as mentioned on page 4 of the manual? Try re-installing the pack. Manually run the InstallMe.bat it has put in the assets folder. Failing all of that, contact AP. He's pretty good at getting back to you quickly.
You might need to do a bit more work than just copying the ToD files, I'm sure it's to do with the Lat and Long coordinates being different to UK, torfmeister will be able to better explain and steer you than I..
Thanks to 37418, Pookeyhead -congrats by the way - and Reef for your prompt replies, I should have mentioned I used TS Tools to swap the weather out and up until now had not had any issues but after swapping out in the editor, while doing some trial and error we now have some wonderful (working correctly) overcast skies. I must admit though winter skies with overcast weather does kinda look like bushfire season here in AUS I have thought about the lat /long /azimuth angles and so on but having made and edited TOD files before it can be long and arduous, and for me, I think I can live with moons and suns etc, not in the right places
Thanks Are you using anything to alter the colour? ReShade or something like that? I've never seen an overcast sky that colour from the AP pack, even at sunset times.
Only RW Enhancer 2 but with all the stuff turned off except for the shader settings and I havent made any changes to the default. If I change seasons then the sky does change colour, this was at 1600 in winter. I will check and see if restoring legacy shaders in RWE2 makes any difference
I havent done any further testing yet but here is a shot from about 10mins later in the scenario and it looks a lot better, maybe the sun was right on going down
I saw a seam in the sky when I used the vulkan driver with the new weather. Did you enable it in RWE2?
Have tried this in free roam for Western Mainlines. Trying to put random weather on and have followed instructions (I think) only seen clear skies with a bit of a haze..... Anyone had free Roam experience on that route putting random weather in?
That was 'AP Overcast' at 1600hrs on 25/10/2000 in winter I did have it enabled at 1 point but then disabled it (current) as I use Cobras overlay in expert mode but it will not display if vulcan is the selected renderer
Yes... set to Winter, October, and 16:00, I get the same colours, so nothing is wrong. I thought it may be to do with your long/lat being out, but it's just the way it is. Never noticed.
The latitude is only relevant for 3D weather / DynamicClouds, which calculates the real sun's path given by the scenario date field. AP/2D weather has all that hardcoded in the ToD files. Concerning the image - looks more like an afternoon thunderstorm coming in (or a noon solar eclipse ) What you see here is the ToD defined sunset sky colours tinting the alpha cloud texture. Nothing wrong (though I do not like this red tint, in reality it doesn't not look that way as the orange colours are the result of the sunlight travelling through particles close to the horizon - the clouds are not affected in reality and would simply cover it up. (I use AP for Clear/Cloudy weather mostly (Fair cloud- still preferring the 3D Overcast skies during daytime. Still TS has no good way to render overcast skies during dusk/dawn. Just love ETS2's weather engine - and that rain probability slider which is something I would like to see in TSC - not that tedious scenario based weather change construction.
nice saved me some testing so thanks for that I had a feeling it wasnt to do with the latitude / longitudes as I dont think they actually play a part in the time of day files, only in the route template file. The ToD files contain references to textures used for the skydome, sun, moon etc and what times they rise and set and at what angle they appear in the sky along with what colour the sky should be at what time of day. I wish it was as simple as changing the lat and long co-ordinates, to affect all these things. To use for the southern hemisphere (at least in AUS) you need to change quite a bit of data to get it right, azimuth angles of sun and moon, turn the moon texture upside down as we see the moon the other way up compared to northern hemisphere, sunrise and sun set times (and then the times need to be edited for each of the sky colours so that they are the right colour at the right time), moon rise and moon set times and then you need to do this for all seasons and even if you do change all this you are unable to use them other than for your own personal use Im thinking at some point I might edit the files based on (approx) the Tropic of Capricorn and see if AP would be interested in including them in a future update so people would be able to use them if they wanted to reference them in southern hemisphere freeware routes. The ToD files have a lot of info in them and I can only imagine the time that was put into them by AP to get them to a level they were satisfied with.
That's what I mean. You can totally customize anything in TSC, but the ToD files only reflect a certain latitude band around the globe (which is not coupled to the latitude given in the RouteProperties / TemplateRoute - only in 3D sky.)
It seems to me that AP have had to go for a one-size-fits all approach. To make overcast clouds correctly grey at sunset would do the same to high cloud for example which would deprive us of those lovely looking high cloud sunsets. At sunset then, it looks like they've prioritised high cloud looking pretty over overcast looking a bit weird.
You can't have it all using static ToD files. Still AP have pushed it to the limit to have the best possible looks. I am hoping for the future version of TSC we can get a global sky and dynamic weather engine, possibly as a middleware from a developer specialised on this. (3D/SL wasn't DTG's product either). Great to see how we can travel in one run from dark mediterranean summer nights into the northern midnight sun in ETS2.
At least we can now do rain probability via the “max time between showers” code on the random shower pattern. If only the transitions were slower, but you can’t have it all i guess.
Anyone else getting a completely black sky on WCML Trent Valley? (of course not, it's only me that has unique problems that no-one else can replicate, silly question... sigh.) Only happening on WCML-TV re-installed from back-up, re-installed from vanilla (actual Steam location) copy, re-installed weather pack, deleted blueprint. Happening on all scenarios old and new standard and career. (10:40 a.m. in-game time)
The fact that the majority of members here (including myself) go out of their way on a daily basis to try and help people with their TS issues and woes yet I don't get so much as a "everything's fine my end" response when I myself ask for help speaks volumes. Duly noted.
I've been trying to find a thread from someone else who had the same issue. I'm sure it was in here, but it can't find it. The weather pack installs a batch file in your Railworks/assets folder called InstallMe.bat. Try running that. Other than that, I've no idea. Have you contacted AP?
Not particuarly helpful but; I often wonder if i should respond with “everything is fine here”, because doesn’t that also sometimes make the frustration even bigger if you have a problem?
