The cab car we're talking about is I think only allowed in Germany itself, so YES - you'll see many of them in München on IC services, but EC services coming in from other countries will not have them.

I'm inserting a shift video. That's what it might look like.Note the remote control of the locomotive. That would be a great addition to this excellent locomotive.

Has DTG confirmed that there is no cab car included with DB BR 101?

They work into Austria on EC services, most DB EC services to Graz use a 101 and steuerwagen.

While used with a different loco (1116 aka BR 182), all Austrian Railjets have cab cars, so I'm not sure where 'verboten' comes from.

Of course, different trains have different cab cars, but the DB IC one specifically does not appear a whole lot internationally.

well, a few years ago (might be three or four) I saw an EC service from Hamburg to Zürich, normaly there are SBB Apm and Bpm wagons on this route, but that day there were normal DB Ic waggons.
So I think the IC cab cars are not allowed to drive by themselves in switzerland, but another locomotive can be attached at the front.

And as said: The Br101 CAN be used in freight services. About one year ago I saw a freight train with a Br101 at the front. I’m a photograph in germany and I often take pictures of trains, which I upload on Instagram. And in the last 7 years I have never seen a Br101 more often than once.
    ONCE!

An IC steuerwagen only has PZB/LZB, so could not lead a train in Switzerland.

Its not just the cab car but the 101 itself: it isnt a 'multi' like the ICE3M, it does't have Swiss pantographs

Fun fact: there are technically 101s in Switzerland, they just don't look like them and are not numbered as 101 -> RE465 is basically a BR101 with some changes of course. Same locos are running in Norway.

The ICE3M also hasn’t got pantographs for Switzerland.
The only ICE that can drive in Switzerland are some of the ICE1 and the ICE 4.

    And the Re460 ;)
The Re465 is a improved version of the Re460 with some changes at the axis.
And I would say the Re460 would be more similar, cause it also has been working in the freight area until 2000.
But you’re right, the Re465 is pretty and similar du the Br101

I wouldn't say that because the Re460 ist basically a BR120 type of loco. It bases of its older tech. You can clearly hear that.

At best the 460 was a semi-ancestor of the 101, built by ABB Zurich which would later merge its rail division with Daimler-Benz's to form Adtranz, and Adtranz would then develop the 101. (ABB was the result of a merger between ASEA and BBC, which was a part of the joint BR 120 project back in the late 80s; Adtranz would later be acquired by Bombardier, which applied the TRAXX label to yet more descendants, the 145/146/185 family)

The Norwegian El18 is a (slightly modified) 460, built in Switzerland for NSB.

But does the BR 101 include the IC wagons without cab car, or is it used only on freight services?
