Good afternoon, everyone! Months after my last UK proposal... So, I 'm back today to inroduce you the third and final Trans-Pennine route: the Calder Valley Line (also known as the Caldervale Line). The northernmost of the three current routes, crossing this major mountain range from southwest to northeast; as well as the slowest and most challenging. Our tracks snake through West Yorkshire and Greater Manchester, in the north/north-west of England; from Leeds to Manchester. The scenery shifts from densely populated plains to the famous "Dales" (Pennine valleys), skirting many waterways along almost its entire length (Rivers Aire and Calder, the Leeds & Liverpool, Calder & Hebble and Rochdale canals...). Many bridges/viaducts and tunnels (Copley Viaduct, Summit Tunnel...), amidst the green and quiet countryside, round out the experience! Two concrete ways to bring it in: 2009 (final year of the Oldham Loop Line) or 2025 (featuring Low Moor and major upgrades). The choice is yours!

    GENERAL FEATURES

    - 54mi(87km) affected length (2025 & 2009).
    - 12+1⁄8mi(19.5km) Oldham Loop length (2009 only).
    - Double track, standard gauge(4ft 8 1/2in/1435mm), unelectrified(most of).
    - 1:200(5‰) average gradient.
    - 50-80mph(81-129kph) speed range.

    Route Management:
    - Network Rail.
    Passenger service (branded WY Metro):
    - Northern Rail Ltd (2009) [needed].
    - Northern Trains Ltd (2025) [available].
    Freigth service:
    - English, Welsh & Scottish Railway/DB Schenker Rail UK Ltd (2009) [available].
    - DB Cargo UK Ltd (2025) [available].
    - GB Railfreight Ltd (both) [needed].
    - Freightliner Ltd (both) [available].

    FREIGHT SERVICE

Quite lively but mainly localized along the Copy Pit<>Brighouse stretch. A waste service operated on the Oldham Loop in 2009, while regular trips also ran on the Manchester<>Todmorden/Brighouse axle in 2025.

Sectors involved (depends on the year):
    - Coal
    - Biomass
    - Petrol
    - Cement
    - Spoil
    - Aggregates
    - Waste

    10Tpd (2009), >20Tpd (2025).

    LAMPOIL

This would easily pass through the DTG process, recycling the AWL Leeds area (adapted). Perhaps something could be saved from NTP too?. Right length, complex service pattern and beautiful scenery. Would also be resource-friendly, recycling many (adapted) units, already in TSW. The only downside: a complex scenario to make!
