You really can't apply the ETS/Train Life formula to a serious train simulator. It really doesn't represent how the rail industry works.

Exactly. Many routes survive on subsidy and don’t make any profit and in some cases, like rural lines in Scotland or Wales, a significant loss. But survive because they are an essential life line to local communities.

I'd even say it's much simpler than that. The gameplay loop of those games can't work with a serious train simulator at a fundamental level. You can't just buy a train and get a job like you can in Train Life, that's just not how railways work. There are very limited circumstances of things like that happening in the real world, but the operations that we see in the real world and in TS and TSW wouldn't happen if random people bought trains and ran them to deliver things to other places.

On a slightly different tack, very surprised DTG haven't tapped into the Android and iOS (Apple) tablet and phone market. A decent albeit cut down version of TSW would do very well and far better than the useless cloned largely Indian and Chinese games that currently inhabit these gadgets (though there are a few honourable exceptions). Though I don't think I would be buying £99 "loot boxes" of gems or diamonds to play such a game.

Trainz has been doing mobile releases for years, but with very short loop routes as far as I remember. There are the paid versions and free versions which don't have microtransactions, but charge a small fee for each additional route and scenario. Of course, Trainz is Trainz and the same flaws as the PC versions are present. The trains are very simple to drive, and there isn't that much to do. Train Simulator's F4 HUD would work well for a mobile or tablet interface I think, so in theory there could be a middle ground between Trainz and TS/TSW, where the trains aren't just 'put in forward and go' but aren't so complicated that you'd need an external input device to drive. Perhaps something with the complexity of DTG DLC from 2013? At that point they were starting to add a bit more depth to the trains with different headlight configurations and AWS self-test sequences, but they were still relatively simple. They weren't great for a serious simulator, but as a pick up and play mobile game experience I think they'd be fine.

Think an age back I did have Trainz either on my Android tablet or subsequently iPad, But as said not very good and very limited what you could do, essentially it was a port of the early style game from 2002/3 era before it got more complex.

I might just manage TSW and TSC on my 10 inch tablet, but on a phone? No, my eyesight is pretty good for my age but squinting at my Samsung S23 to spot signals or change switches would not be smart or comfy.

seeing it for me would be the easy part, I used to watch a lot of films on my old phone (5S) (Titanic being a good example of my use on that :D) but the controls that’s what gets me, games where you tap the screen are pretty easy no problem but anything like San Andreas and that would be a nightmare x2, I even tried shopping sim on my usual iphone 11 yesterday and nope as much as I want to play it on Xbox when it releases the controls whilst pretty simple were way too fiddly and tiresome.

It's kinda embarrassing to be working with a company who uses AI for all their graphics on their website. Is this company really trustworthy with an IP like this?

So Pullup's / Focus Home's recent half year results mention both "Train Sim World Tycoon" and "Train Sim World Roblox" seperately. Though it does not elaborate on it further - I wonder if it will be a entire series of Train Sim World games on Roblox.

Also, apparently it looks like this?

REALLY OMG, On Roblox WOW WHY DTG, it doesn't fit at all. :|:|:|:|:|:(:(:(:(:( That's a waste on partnership, it just sound so weird and doesn't make any sense. Please tell me that they are not going to put all the money that they invest into this. :|

Surely this year's DTG base game release is actually city transport simulator (trams)? Tsw was only an example under the dtg base game yearly tag after all. It didn't say tsw every year.

Well just ignore it then. Dtg are only publishers and not the developers. It has zero impact on tsw

Considering recent news, I suspect Roblox will become an increasingly toxic brand that companies will want to avoid doing business with...
