They came out their mother's womb spitting flames according to their father. A benefit is that the heating bill is always low!
Have you seen its wheels? That thing couldn't possibly get round a corner. Other than that it's fine(!)
This is from the cover art of a 1993 combat game about trains in a post-apocalyptic world. It's called 'Transarctica' for anyone wondering...
You are correct however the first train is also seen inside San Diego County on the Escondido to Oceanside commuter rail route.
This belongs to the Nankai Railway Icoca Card required. I am not sure if the Competitor JR West 281 series also counts If you couple two of these together they would resemble a Dutch Nederlandse Spoorwegen ICM since the doorway in the driver's cab is actually your connector.
Going to have ti disagree with that version of the 777, although the version I’m posting now does deserve to be on this list in my opinion. Just to confirm, I don’t hate all 777’s but I do absolutely detest this one. Photo is a YT thumbnail.
In my opinion, the 376’s are really nice (I love them, I must admit), just in their own way. The 442’s just look really nice, they don’t really look that ugly to me (even though their nickname is the plastic pigs). The 76 looks really nice in a very simplistic way, same with the 73. The only one in this post in particular that I agree with personally is the class 74
It doesn't look terrible in those colours. Pain as well, cause you can't see out the window they're on. Definitely prefer these more reserved versions.
Here's a new one for the pile, the br 633, been caught mid shapeshift into a Nokia. Good lord! Also this thing, the Siemens Mireo (br 463). The evil love child of a 422 & 442 that had it's face pinched really hard...
There are multiple versions of this train the one here actually runs to Dresden Hauptbahnhof RE15/RE18 Hoyerswerda/Cottbus-Großenhain Cottbuser Bahnhof Coswig Dresden Hauptbahnhof. Need to run battery & OHLE 563 version. If made for the Nahverkehr Dresden route as downloadable content there has to be two versions 3 carriages and 6 carriages of 463 Verkehrsverbund Oberelbe Verkehrsverbund Berlin Brandenburg
Here is the Japanese version of the Dutch Nederlandse Spoorwegen koploper Intercitymaterieel Japan Railways West 271 series used for Kyoto to Osaka Kansai airport services alongside the 281 series When combined with a 281 series its the Japanese version of the Dutch ICM combined
Through the narrow windows but honestly it’s not worse like inside the 385 in my opinion, they sacrificed driver comfort over design…
Same way as it's dutch counterpart for driver views. Some units would have gotten a Hello Kitty paint Scheme on it.
Aww it's weird, clean, good lines and not too fussy or ott, like a fridge or a boiler. Could be a cuter version of the ICM heh. Plus that 'lookout' panoramic window set up is great, like a plane or one of those tall US flat front semi trucks. Don't think much of those boxes on top of each carriage though. I mean Japan has a load of those high cab designs, some way more awkward looking.
I found a bunch more for this ever expanding ugly pile; Eiden 732 Series. Random squashed circles everywhere? Why not. The motif is classy though. Br 618. No words just ech! Seems a hideous concept from the 60s almost, the penchant for squashed circles is getting around. The V250/ETR 700. This one almost passes muster, but that nose lets it down, got a look of shock with those beady eyes as well. Tobu 500 Series. Looks like a sci fi mask, something specifically made for a movie or a game like Halo perhaps. Definitely a grower not a shower. Mizukaze Twilight Express. Jury's out on this one, the viewing platform on the nose is a neat gimmick being integrated with each cab & the motif is classy once more, but it's a bit off. The DE-AC33C Blue Tiger prototype. It's that big window & cab, it might work if it was more angular, but it just doesn't look right with that round sweep on a 'bone' loco that looks like a rooftop unit. They improved the line by painting the fairing black in the bottom front but it still looks ugly as hell, more so with the added clunky 'bullbars'. Luckily this is a one off and they thought better for the production model. The Laview train. It may have received a global design award, but it can't disguise the fact it resembles a silver maggot. Kiha 285 Series. A good example of how to botch a high cab design. Thankfully this thing was scrapped. Kiha 261 Series. And another fine example were the livery makes it worse! Here's a corker, 'Resort Saloon Festa' part of the "Joyful Train" concept. Charters, excursions tourism etc. Best part, the mouth opens revealing the PIS lol! And to round off this set, a contender for the creepiest train, the 485 series 'Irodori'. A determined charging robot to haunt your dreams...
The Class 376 would be my personal choice as ugliest I’ve actually seen in person (definitely many others in this thread that are far worse) with that horrible looking front end and I actually like Electrostars. For those who haven’t seen inside a 376, it’s not much better - the interior looks horrible personally compared to the 375’s & 377’s Southeastern have
They have a 281 series Hello Kitty here's the video this will combine with a 271 series if 8-12 carriages are needed to do Kansai Airport to Kyoto Runs
Oh boy, that's the 271s ugly twin. Terrible looking cab. Way too boxy as well and the livery does it no favours. Needs vertical head lights I think. Here's a new one, JNR class EF55. With a big brownish gut hanging down.
