Okay so if this is aimed at 5 year olds and saying it handles the same as other steam locomotives in the game...

How many young kids are going to actually be able to drive it and get the balance between regulator and reverser right? Or will it be a case of they play it once and ditch it out of frustration?

 

Complete disrespect from DTG with this...TSW is meant to be an authentic simulator for driving trains - not one person has asked for this...now we know what they really think of customers. This could backfire so badly on them all the time they could have been fixing routes like WCML south and Fife Circle but no let's put our resources into some children's novelty trainset. This is completely bonkers!!

 

What has a Thomas The Tank Engine DLC in a train simulator got to do with social and political issues mate? Bit of an odd thing to bring up.

 

They play fortnite with insane numbers of button combos...

 

There’s going to be some kind of story mode/campaign involved with the dlc, so I should imagine it will have an easy mode for young players. If they decide to go that route.

 

Well we have got new steam locos and a new Diesel for WCML Preston to Carlise for a bit of fun shunting...

You just one day say "Hey full train simulator!"
or do you introduce slowly?
That's why it's on the very slow, short and simple WSR route.
No signals, etc.

That's how you get new people into the game.
And if mom and dad play TSW then it's them teaching the kid.

Not sure why you're offended since they are "thinking" of all the TSW players with kids who want to get their kids into trains.
That's something that should be encouraged, not prevented.

The Roblox thing was also reaching out to kids of TSW players.

It's securing a future audience of train enthusiasts.

Hmmm yeah, it's TSW so you can use Thomas and friends wherever you want on whatever route in Free Mode ;-)

Awww love it. Thomas is still my childhood guilty pleasure into my early 40s and I look forward to getting it.

I thought you were implying it wasn't proper to post here. Others have been claiming that in the other thread and it's silly because the audience IS people with kids into trains (many TSW customers who have kids, or nephews, nieces, etc)

Scenarios can include; will Thomas have enough power to make it over Shap with Annie and Clarabel in the snow. Will dirty diesel get the troublesome trucks to Currock wagon works?

Thomas has fallen down a mine shaft. Only Diesel is available to help. Firstly stop Diesel from being a naughty engine and then drive the reluctant engine to help Thomas.

Have to say I feel like a bit of a mug today, after all the (well deserved) hype around Preston-Carlisle I genuinely thought this too would be something special. I guess I’ll be reverting to my old cynical actively ignore-the-guff ways.

It´s not "hate", its general concern about the direction of game.... put I guess a couple of people will have had enough after today and you won´t have to the "hate" in the future anymore. Because there is nothing more to be said for some of us.

 

I’m not worked up mate. I just feel like the direction of Call Of Duty has gone isn’t good. I just look back in the last 5-10 years of how Call Of Duty used to be and miss them times.
Nothing to do with homophobia or anything like that, I’m just a bit fed up seeing sparkle bullets and pink flashing unicorns on players that I’m shooting.
I could probably write a 500 essay on how I feel the cod franchise has fallen, like I did on the Activision forums, but that’s not appropriate here.

 

Look, it's a valid concern, but I can't see that being valid here as it's single player.
You don't SEE anyone else's game.
It's still just you downloading what you want and playing it by yourself.
So it's not relevant to TSW.

 

The reaction to it has been hilarious. Some acting like DTG just gave their pets the Old Yella treatment. It's a fun DLC, Mattel are hardly a small company and getting the license for their product is a huge coup, young kids will love it, families will enjoy playing it with their kids.

It's just as nostalgic as driving an 87 over Shap or a DMU in 1990s Niddertalbahn. I'll buy it for the novelty and can't wait to see the scenarios people come up with. But yeah it's mostly the reaction that has made my weekend.

 

Ah yes, one single piece of DLC released aimed at children or fans of Thomas which instantly means that the whole series has now been baby-fied and completely cancels out all of the other DLC in this game rated 3+/E for Everyone.

 

I'm surprised we haven't heard "Well now that there's one Japanese route coming, that's the END of British and German routes! The game is ruined!"

 

There’s so much potential for this brand though.
Imagine if we got a full Thomas the tank engine inspired route from the tv show one day, and they add more locos. James, Gordon, Percy and the whole gang. That I’d like to see.
The childhood memories are flooding back now.

 

Absolutely great. Please also bring Lego and some Fortnite related content in game. I also would like some pink unicorns on rails. And you can name it Kindergarten DLC because the world Sim in Train Sim World it's juts a meme.

I liked this because you're unintentionally correct about being incorrect.
They could very well do a Lego add on... but it still wouldn't affect your game at all if you don't go out and buy it.
It's single player.

Good idea with the Lego branding though. Imagine if kids could "build" their own trains to run and test.
