So in timetable mode before I load into the game there are little codes e.g. On sand patch Y101, Y102. I think I have an idea what it is but I am not 100% so anyone know?
It is basically a code for each service so it can be identified. I don’t know exactly how the USA ones work. But for the UK ones it is: Example 1F11 Faversham to St Pancras The 1 stands for the fact it is a express/fast train. The F indicates it’s a train from or to St pancras to or from Faversham/Ramsgate The 11 is what number service that train is on. So usually the next service this train will be is 1F12. First part: 1- fast/express train 2- semi fast or slow passenger train 3 - is a priority ECS 4 - fast freight 5 - empty coaching stock 6 - aggregates or slow freight 7 - freight doing no more than 45 mph 8 - weather vehicles 9 - pure high service
9 is more of a "this train is doing something odd, watch out" nowadays. For example the Avanti Scottish services that go via Birmingham have a class 9 headcode. The 442s with SWR also used them.
For Sand Patch Grade, everything is a train symbol, which is what modern railroads use to identify trains on the line. Each railroad has its own way to label these, so knowing a CSX train symbol wont help you identify a Union Pacific Train Symbol (As they use different systems). As far as CSX symbols go, this list here explains them as this: http://railroadfan.com/wiki/index.php/CSX_Train_Symbols#Alphabetical: The ones that apply to Sand Patch in game are as follows.... G: Loaded Unit Grain Trains K: Bulk Commodity Trains N: Loaded Unit Coal Trains Q: Regularly Scheduled "Quality" trains U: Empty Unit Coal Trains X: Extra Movements Y: Yard Jobs and Transfers CSX I368 is the only one I don't have info on
Could "I" be a manifest freight, (non-Q variety)? Haven't played SPG in a minute, so don't remember the specifics of I368.
The UK system is further complicated by whether the train is traveling inside a single region, or traveling between them. For example, 1F11 is staying within the Greater London region, so it gets an F for Faversham. But a Bristol-Paddington express would be 1A11, A representing Greater London, since it's coming from outside it.
It is a manifest train, and looking at the timetables a bit more, it may of been an L train not an I train (For some reason the l may not be capitalized in game) This would make it a "Q" but on an alternative schedule.
I'm not too familiar with CSX's symbol designation as I live on a BNSF line, and BNSF does things a LOT differently than CSX, but on all of the lists of train symbols I've never seen an L or an I, and I haven't seen any videos of the train IRL leading me to believe it's not a real symbol.
" Q Series: Regularly scheduled "Quality" trains Note: All Q trains can run as L (Alternate schedule or terminals)" Q368 however runs Chicago - Selkirk NY and goes nowhere near Sand Patch. Q369 OTOH does run to Cumberland.
