Anyone else having the old track shadow rendering on S-Bahn Vorarlberg? In my case the new one is not working.
I haven't witnessed it on any route - neither SEHS, BRO, Salzburg-Rosenheim, nor DRA, NEC or Boston. I didn't test any other route than the above in TSW5 though. I guess it's part of the patches during TSW5s product cycle...
Ok good than its not just me having the old shadow rendering. Maybe DTG could say something about it.
Good afternoon folks, currently the following routes are making use of the new track shadow rendering: London Overground: Suffragette line Bahnstrecke Salzburg - Rosenheim Antelope Valley Line East Coast Main Line Nahverkehr Dresden Cajon Pass Southeastern High Speed Maintalbahn San Bernardino WCML: London Euston - Milton Keynes Linke Rhienstrecke Niddertalbahn LGV: Mediteranee Frankfurt - Fulda You can find more information about this in our FAQ here All the best, Jan
Ok thank you very much I think in the Roadmap update part 2 there was S-Bahn Vorarlberg mentioned too.
So, casually drop a list in here as if the OP and others were wrong, but actually routes have been dropped with no announcement or follow-up (will they come in time, or scrapped)?
Good evening Jan, I hate to say it but something must have gone wrong then. I checked the following routes on Series X: - Salzburg-Rosenheim - Dresden-Riesa - Cajon Pass - SEHS - Maintalbahn - LFR - LGV Mediteranee and found the following: Rosenheim Rainham Miltenberg Riesa This does not look right, does it? CJP, LFR, Niddertalbahn and I think LGV had the new rendering equipped, the upper... well, obviously not. Although it could be the 3rd rail on SEHS causing the disturbance.
Hello, thank you for letting us know about the feature not working as intended on Xbox Series X, I will check with the team today to see if this is a known issue or not. Did anyone else notice this on any other platform? I have also checked internally, and it seems that the list of routes with track shadow improvements in the articles is incorrect. I am still trying to track down the source of this list, but the list in the FAQ is what we received from the development team and has been confirmed as correct. We apologize if this has led to incorrect expectations; this was not our intention. All the best, Jan
On PC (steam) all listed routes don't have the new track shadow rendering. Yesterday tested Dresden naheverkehr, nothing changed.
So again we got stuff sold which isn't in the final product? Nice! Rutger Luiten I have to check again when I'm home but I also didn't notice the new shadow track rendering on PC / Steam on any older route listed here as well.
I didn't expect much from TSW5. But the promised track shadow improvements caught my attention. But I don't see them on PS5, this is from Salzburg-Rosenheim -----> dtg_jan Needless to talk about my disappointment.
The missing upgraded track shadows, as far as I'm aware, have been reported since launch. https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/maintalbahn-feedback-thread.76614/page-10#post-900796
This one actually DOES have the improved track shadows, but in your screenshot they stop rendering because of the junction. Currently junctions don't use the improved track shadows. But you can even see the shadows returning after the junction has ended.
Cool, at least one route less to take care of. To be honest I haven't played any route with the new track shadows in TSW5 yet, just checked Jans list for comparison. The shadow of the 3rd rail seems not to be upgraded though, since its visibility ends at around the yellow sign and you can see a short area in between before the junction starts. That confused me so much that I suspected the old system to be still in use.
Hey folks, just to update on this, the list featured in our roadmap articles was incorrect, this was most likely an internal miscommunication. We are also investigating why the improved track shadows are not working as intended on the routes that they should work on, as soon as we have an update on that we will share the news with you. All the best, Jan
I've noticed that we've lost a few new graphical features since the TSW5 update. I could see the track shadow and chemstrails in the first version (before 26 September). It pains me to say it, another update that leaves something to be desired.
Do these guys never learn to QA aka proof read their communications before blurting out about the next all singing all dancing feature? Always the same lame excuses, 'teams' are working on it, etc etc. Where is the focus, or is Focus Entertainment looking the other way??
Here comes the fun part from the Track Shadow Disaster Saga. --------------------------------> Pictures below from RT. Yes, you heard it right: from that abominable, despicable, loathsome, detestable and heinous route. To be forgotten, never to be named ... An E.X. parrot ... Oh, the ironing ...
I am fairly sure that all TSW2020 routes have decent track shadows (at least the early ones like this do) but I'm not sure when it changed to save memory. Preserving this quote for future reference.
what bothers me more is the absence of a drop shadow texture under any rail vehicle, allowing sun illuminated ballast and sleepers to show, only darkened a bit by the cast shadow under certain angles.
So the new roadmap is out again and still nothing about the track shadows. Is it such a big problem just to add them to the promised routes? DTG Alex
