Is there a switch to put on the train passenger lights on and off?
I was going to ask the same thing...
It's just not real if you are doing a depot service or empty stock move cause normally you wouldn't have passenger lights on
What about the instrument lightening? How do I turn those off ? Is there still no manual for this route?
Is it the button on the top left of the main instrument panel? That's where it is on the real thing, but I'm on PC so I can't check DTG have actually included it yet.
Says CAB LIGHT, but no function
If anything ; on the floor just by the two cabdoors you can switch off the ceiling light
if you look at the switch panels directly behind the drivers seat you can see a switch for the saloon lights but none of those switches are operational in the game.
Passenger light are on by default unfortunatly, and the cab light, lights up the other side of the drivers cab
You can toggle the left side cablights bu a switch near the floor next to the main cab door below the drivers seat. And you can toggle the right side cab light with the switch next to the left hand door control panel.
That’s not correct. There are plenty of modern units which don’t have an option to switch on/off passenger lights. Personally, I think it’s bonkers having empty coaching stock run with lights on but unfortunately it’s not down to me.
The only way to do it would be the following:
1. Trip auxiliaries OR
2. Go to each individual electrical cupboard in each coach and trip the MCB for lights
Both would be done in a maintenance depot by maintenance staff usually.
Edited to add that even traction that we are able to turn passenger lights off on the push of a button or switch, the company still doesn’t want us to turn it off during ECS moves.
Have you been able to find a button for instrument lighting?
The physical buttons have probably been moved to the TMS. In the ECW 377, the MITRAC TMS displays haven't been fully emulated.
Lighting is a bit more involved nowadays than it used to be so it's not uncommon for it to be controlled by a computer.
I’ll have to ask someone who signs electrostars because I’m not convinced by that explanation to be honest. If anything, lighting is less involved these days because we don’t have to deal with ETS like on conventional locomotives. These days they don’t like us touching the lights even when on empty coaching stock and there are traction that I sign that definitely have no way of turning off the lights unless you trip auxiliaries or going to each coach and locally trip MCB for lights.
I had a look at YouTube and can see ECS electrostars with passenger lights on so I guess there’s no way to turn lights off normally.
With lighting being more involved I mean that it has more features. For example, newer trains may have sensors which adapt the brightness of the internal lighting to the ambient light level in the outside world. Some trains (such as the ICE 4) have trains which automatically change the light colour as he day progresses - from blue hues in the morning to red hues in the evening.
With the progress in today's lighting techniques (LEDs) there may simply not be a reason anymore to turn off the lights. LEDs have a long lifespan and their energy consumption is negligible.
Unfortunately not. The switch that turn's the train's lights on and off is there, behind the driver's seat, but the switch isn't functional in the game, meaning passenger lights are always on no matter if its on an ECS, day or night service, or stabled at a depot. Only functional interior lights are both the cab light and noticeboard light.
No, if it was stabled at a depot for a length of time, you would trip the auxiliaries which turn the lights off.
But you can’t do that in the game.
