Announcement Train Sim World – Update For Supported Game Platforms

Today we’d like to outline a change for the game platforms we support for Train Sim World, what this means for players and the title in the future.

Train Sim World titles and new TSW Add-on releases developed from this date onwards will only be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC platforms (Steam, Xbox for PC and Epic Games).
This change is essential for allowing the teams that create TSW content freedom to take advantage of current-gen hardware, prioritising the best performance possible, and improving the visual quality as much as they can.

All of the released content available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One up until today will remain on sale, and any Add-ons purchased will share entitlements for the latest consoles for each respective platform. This means you won’t be losing any access to content you’ve purchased, even if you upgrade today or at any point later down the line.

We understand this may be disappointing for those who haven't made the jump to newer hardware, and we thank everyone who enjoys Train Sim World on PS4 and Xbox One. If you have any further questions, or want to view additional platform specific details, please see a list of FAQs available below.

Q: What is a Gen 8 console?
The 8th generation of consoles covers PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Q: How is Gen 8 support changing?
Train Sim World titles and new TSW Add-on releases developed from this date onwards will only be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC platforms (Steam, Xbox for PC and Epic Games).

Q: Will I still be able to play TSW6 and TSW6 Add-ons on Gen 8?
Yes, Train Sim World 6 and previous games in the series will remain fully playable on Gen 8 platforms.

Q: Will I be able to play future editions of TSW and new Add-ons on Gen 8? 
No, future editions of Train Sim World will not be playable on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One.

Q: If I upgrade to PS5 or Xbox Series S|X, will my games and add-ons come with me?
Yes, so long as you stay in the same ecosystem (e.g. PlayStation or Xbox) all games and add-ons will be available if your upgrade your console. 
On PlayStation any purchase will automatically give you both the PS4 and PS5 version of a game or add-on. Whereas, on Xbox you will automatically download the best version for the console you own. 

Q: How do I download my games and add-ons if I upgrade?
To download your games or add-ons on a new console simply sign into your PSN/Xbox account then refer to the download instructions for your platform.

Q: What benefits are there to upgrading my console?
PlayStation 5, or Xbox Series X|S (9th Gen Consoles) will provide a wider range of AI traffic, faster load times and higher fidelity graphics (equivalent to PC High Settings) at 4K resolution with improved performance over 8th gen consoles.

Q: What happens if I want to move to a different platform in the future?
If you choose to change platforms (e.g. PlayStation to PC), you will be fully responsible for any costs incurred. You can find out more here: Can I Transfer Games or Add-Ons to a Different Platform?

Q: If I upgrade, will my in-game progress transfer?
PS4 to PS5 - Unfortunately, it is not possible to transfer your in-game profile to the PS5 version of the game, but you can still play the PS4 version of TSW 6 and before on your PS5 console.
Xbox One to Xbox Series S|X - Your saved data is associated with your Xbox account and can be synchronized with any Xbox platform.

Q: If I upgrade, will my mastery challenge progress transfer?
Yes, your mastery challenge progress is stored in the cloud through Dovetail Live and is not locked to a single game or platform.
