Probably a while off release still for this since there aren't any pictures of the locomotives yet.

My only gripe is the lighting, it should be way brighter and more cool. The LGV has the same problem.

Cane Creek is a short route - no complaint, after all it is the entire branch! However, since the Cane Creek sub, in addition to SD40 and AC4400, ran GP40, SD60M, SD70 and SD9043, it is disappointing we have yet another version of the SD40

So quick question, this article only mentions the Potash local, and no dirt train, another article states both. So are we only getting the Potash Local or are we also getting the "dirt" train as well?

I will only buy this route if:
    A) The Locomotives are modeled correctly
    B) The sounds aren’t reused from their respective SPG versions

Overall the route is looking great, can’t wait to see the actual locos on the route:)

I am really interested in how this route delivers. The scenery seems to be very close to 10/10 (at least 9 definitely), rolling stock probably average (can't see much happening with the locos already in the game, but we'll see). The biggest question will be the gameplay, IRL the route sees very little traffic, very little variety, so it will be interesting to see what we get considering radioactive trains won't be implemented based on the articles.

To try to clear up some of the confusion caused by the above announcement:

    - Yes, the route will include operations of both the Potash train operating as a turn to the large mine and processing facility at Potash, as well as the “dirt train” operating between Brendel and Moab and return.

    - As operated by UP, the potash turn will be powered with multiple six-axle units operating in traditional fashion on the head-end.

    - Also as operated by UP, the dirt train will operate with units on each end of the consist to facilitate switching and loading at Moab.

    - Quite a wide range of branch line operations featuring both the potash turn and the dirt train as well as loading and switching operations at Moab and Potash will be included in the scenarios and in the timetabled services.

Seems like we will get another route for some 1-2 hours to play and finally throw him away on junkyard then (like Isle of Wings)... - _-

Yup Peninsula Corridor was built for the TSW1 engine. So technically it is the first route for TSW2 featuring UP. So they aren't lying. Just using fancy wordplay to sound better. It happens alot I've noticed.

But Peninsula Corridor is available for TSW 2 :)
But that's an insignificant little thing!

because it was originally for TSW 1 this technically is the first built specifically for TSW2 with UP.
Besides Peninsula Corridor is obviously insignifigant since there still is no water on the consoles since it originally came out. And they even madw a crack about it on the last challenge. So I don't think they care at all.

I mean, the UP content for Peninsula Corridor was pretty limited, especially since the exchange yard with the San Francisco Belt Railroad at Pier 96 and the Port of Redwood are both omitted from the route (Even though they were included in the Gilroy extension for TS21.)

The branch is some ~35 miles long, so 1-2 hours barely gets you from Brendel down to Potash, without any switching and loading, let alone doing a return trip. And that's just the Potash turn without counting the Dirt Train.

I really hope we can get more features in the scenario planner like to unload/load cars rather than just doing a drive from point a to point b. I hope whenever scenario planner version 2 comes that can be added. I do wonder one other thing is if there will be crossing gates and lights on masts for this since Clinchfield doesn’t have them they only have cross bucks. If they do I hope they work like opening and closing.

Another note, I wonder if we will get some dinosaurs on this route (Moab Giants, located at the Juction of US 191 and UT 313.) Would be a nice fun thing to add.

(You can see the line in the background of these shots.)

For those talking about the gameplay, I’m pretty sure one whole run on the branch irl would be split into parts in TSW, kinda like the CRR services. So for example the Potash Turn Pt. 1 would have you run down the line to potash then part 2 would instruct you to load hoppers and vice versa.

For me, the content of TSW is a variety in itself. We don't have to sit on one route all the time. Cane Creek looks different enough, which makes it interesting, to enter my library.

Well, judging by the screenshots, Skyhook are doing an excellent job with the scenery. As far as the locos are concerned, they have plenty of experience in that department. That leaves gameplay and Gary has certainly whetted my appetite with his recent post. All sounds good to me.

The scenery is just fantastic and much much better than I expected it to be. I'll probably buy it on release just because of that, when I was planning on waiting for a sale before.
You can always replay the services. Replaying is in my opinion not much different than playing the same passenger service at different times of the day, so I'm not too fussed about the lack of traffic. As long as driving is enjoyable, it's fine.

This is probably the first TSW route where there is such a wide panorama. Looks very good.

Would be nice, but I doubt it. The dinosaurs probably belong to someone and you would have an extra license from this person / company.

The park itself is probably licensed, doesn't mean Skyhook can put generic Dinosaurs statues in their place.

Considering the fact that dlc doesn’t release until it’s turn comes along (clinchfield just came out, HBL is next, then probably Cathcart circle, and finally cane creek), it’s probably not coming out till about late July.

Notice how he said “dirt train” in quotation marks, meaning that Gary might be referring to the uranium train that runs on this line. I don’t know an awful lot about this route so I’m not 100% sure about this.

Doubt it, its a 3rd party route, so they will release it on their own terms.

I'm getting more and more excited for this route. I think the scenery looks fantastic (except the lighting, as usual- pls god let the engine update save us). Sounds like a nice mix of stuff to do for us freight fans.

Do wish there was a new loco model included, but upgraded versions of the SD40-2 and AC4400 would be great- hope they're not just copy/pasted.

Clinchfield has been a major step foward for freight operations IMO (just needs a some yard switching- *fingers crossed for a GP7 DLC*), so i'm hoping the trend continues with Cane Creek.

So does this cane creek branch line even have anything that resembles a switching yard?

Would have preferred a mixed track for freight and passengers. So but we have then shortly after another pure freight line and the locomotives are probably also just recycled. A bit disappointing, even if it looks nice.

Not understanding the whole naming of the uranium ore train what it is.... not a "dirt" train
The atlas uranium mill opened in the 50s, leaving behind a metric butt ton of "spicy dirt"
The department of energy has been moving it out for years for fear of it washing into the Colorado River.
I get it. Nukes are bad mkay. But call it what it is - uranium tailings

The train has been nicknamed the "dirt train" for years, both by railroaders and railroad enthusiasts. It is well known as such. An article covering the history, purpose, and operations of the dirt train is planned in the future.

Its not about "approving" a title - I meant this in a purely informational way. It just seems as if its trying to be a roundabout way of what it really is. I.e. key details about the type of train it is

The route is fully and accurately modeled. It will include the following:
    - Storage and loading tracks at Potash
    - Loading facilities at Moab
    - Siding and spurs at 7-Mile
    - Yard tracks at Brendel
    - Yard tracks and wye at Thompson Springs

As stated above, a full history and operation of the train is planned for a future article. Also as stated, the term "dirt train" has long been in general use, there is nothing "roundabout" intended. You will note I am not the first person nor the last in this thread to refer to it as "dirt train." Let's move on please.

Wait, the route will go as far as Thompson Springs? That's good to hear, as it means at least 6 miles of the mainline will be included on the route.

As stated above? You edited your response after i replied...
And I've moved on Gary. I was pointing out how the latest article of the 'dirt train' was again, not forthcoming with info - you replied snarkily... then edited your reply...
    C'mon man.

The railroaders have called it the "dirt train" pretty much since it began running, since to all appearances that's what it's hauling: big hopper-loads of dirt. It's not like it glows green or any such Hollywood silliness.
