Agreed, we’ve been told there’s a meal coming for years and we’ve sat down the sights of an empty plate since. Unless, Adam’s preserved becomes tsw22 core release along with bakerloo passengers and sold as new game :D:D. Imagine the fallout then, paying again for the bakerloo timetable increase (zero interest in that route though I have).

Don't worry the patches will come. It'll probably 8-12 months at this point :)

    Question is…..

Roadmap next Tuesday. Will it be a Prosecco or pitchfork party. Do we get preservation crew release dates or preservation crew work updates?

What I would like to see is a release date for updates that are done a ready to go, and a progress update on the ones as to when they will be ready.

Can't remember the last time we got a release date for anything on a roadmap...

Agreed but in this case some more 'definite' information would be appreciated especially seeing how long players have waited.

I fear we are more likely to receive the PC updates alongside some more or less appealing 'Expansion Packs' than anytime in their originally thought way.
And as it wouldn't be the wisest decision to state that as a developer I wouldn't expect anything else as phrases about the QC bottleneck on Tuesday.
Anything else would be a (welcome) surprise I guess...

It also is so annoying when DTG start going on about how they know about about our frustration, and say it is unacceptable ETC but they leave out the most important bit, what they are going to do and when.

I'm not 'demanding' anything I just want DTG to be honest. If you are not going to release the preserve route updates just tell us then I can move onto to something else. If you are then great, now tell us when we can expect them or roughly days, weeks, years, decades?

That's the thing, they want you to keep buying content while you wait for the updates, until you finally realize that you're being taken.

Valid points made in this thread. Regarding the next roadmap, I'm really hoping for some new additions, even just a loco add-on - I need something to look forward to, ain't much at the moment!

Query: what was the last Preserved Crew update to be released, and when was it released?

Glancing through the patch notes, the last one to mention fixes for the Preserved Collection was August 13, 2021, which was also the last update before the release of the Rush Hour routes. The need to fix those up seems to have taken priority from that point. Until then, nearly every patch note from that date back to September 29, 2020 includes Preserved Collection fixes.

Was that the WSR revamp? That's the most memorable PC update.

Jesus, I could have got someone pregnant and nigh on joined the realms of fatherhood in that time ( had it not been for a hatred of bars, a pandemic and too much time on the sim:D:D )

And what are these "slots" they speak about? I have never heard of being limited to slots for upgrades and fixes. Maybe for DLC. But surely even if so you must get at least one a week.

So it begs an answer to my original question if no DLC this week why no update for whats done and ready to go surely a bunch has been through QC and just sitting there.

As someone else said, how are you going to clear the bottleneck if you don't release any of it?

I can only imagine it’s because they’ve taken on feedback that releases have caused more bugs and it’s a very fine balance between that risk and getting it out faster

I am not sure if there are a pile of updates which have cleared QA and are just sitting around waiting to be released or not.

Adam has a habit of saying he has finished with things but then they bounce back from QA or haven't even been tested yet, so it is a bit misleading to say there are updates ready to go out.

If there are updates ready to go then a completely blank week with no patches at all is really poor. But I wouldn't jump to conclusions.

I'd be wary of saying things like "it's misleading" when the "target" of QA is always moving. With core updates and a lot of moving parts (ie multiple DLC with multiple systems, and trains, and just about everything else) ensuring that another fix somewhere else doesnt' break the whole lot.

If you need an example of this see the "red light fix" which was intended to stop AI trains running red lights, but ended up bringing whole routes to a grinding halt.

176 days without a workplace accident fix. That's just a frazz shy of six months without any updates.

i have a feeling that there is not going to be any update probably for this whole month, because they are basically going to use most of the time with showcasing the expansion pack, which is not really interesting to me.

That’s just madness. Something is seriously wrong with the way things are operating which has allowed this to happen. Something needs to change ASAP!

This is from Nov 24th update:

    Rhein Ruhr Osten
    • Added RailDriver functionality to the DB BR 422
    • Added Rush Hour passengers to Rhein-Ruhr Osten
    and from October 27th:
    • Added Rush Hour passenger system for East Coastway
So its not quite 176 days :)

Pretty minor, and neither fixed any bugs. Rush Hour passengers is literally a matter of checking a box to turn it on; easy enough to do it when they uploaded the 313 timetable.

I am hoping that on the next stream Since, Nat already mentions that Adam is not going to be present, and Matt is, He will at least tell us when these updates will be coming and give a date. They could have just given us a date, and not gone through this whole mess. I really hate arguing about it.

Who is than? and I think Matt should bring him onto the stream so that we can ask him straightforwardly.

You're setting yourself up for disappointment if you're expecting any dates on a roadmap stream.

I would envisage this will be Matt having to calm the fire, explain the delay again and talk through improvements. We need to remember the fishing game took their QA resource for a while too

It seems to me that it might make sense to divide the QA team into 4 teams, which would improve both speed and, at least as important, quality. There should be a "Trains" team which works on testing TS and TSW; a "Fish" team that tests EFS and FSW, an Unreal team that tests the engine core-programming aspects of TSW and FSW, and then, finally, a "Flying Squad" which is assigned to whatever product needs the manpower at the moment.

In this way we get specialists who are more attuned to the specific and particular issues of what they're testing (knowing PZB doesn't translate to knowing which lure to choose), avoid having one side of the company effectively held at a red light while the other one proceeds, and still preserve manpower flexibility according to demand.

Wouldn't that be less QA, more beta testing?

    You're presuming it's a man...

Personally I don't see why everyone needs to come on stream and face the public. What benefit would it have bar allowing people to have some person to vent their spleen at (and then troll them)?

Not the same sorts of "bugs." QA is looking for game-crashers and game-breakers. Beta looks for missing scenery and badly-placed stop markers.

I was going by my own limited experience. We didn't have a QA team at all only a beta team that looked for everything. It was for a mod that was very popular at the time, the forum had over 10,000 members, good laugh.

No, they are there to find very different things (especially from what Matt and Sam said recently)
QA seems to be more indepth engineering and code bugs whereas beta testers are "play testers"

Otherwise yes, they both find bugs

Not necessarily. If they have a "release team" and those people are responsible for the release of all of DTG's catalogue of games and updates then it would be less "Matt's boss" and more a partner team to TSW who have a specific remit within the operations of DTG with neither taking precedence over the operations of the other.

Okay. Of course Adam must negotiate a way to release the preservation updates. Now it looks like they are ready. Waiting for Microsoft and Sony to do the final testing.
