While this makes me excited. I think more should have been added. We got the DB BR 182 during TSW 2020 and we got the F7A back during TSW2 on Clinchfield. I will personally still get it but there needs to be more diversity with locomotives. Especially on the USA side of things, Introduce new American locomotives that aren't as known. You have the Amtrak, and NS copyrights. Do something with them like the line in between Charlotte and maybe Greensboro. It's roughly 89 miles. You can at least include some new passenger locomotives. My point is there's options don't continue with the same stuff. Don't add the SD40-2 for the like 20th time. I understand it's popular but it gets tiring to look at always.

    Don't forget the SD40-2 and it's cousin the SD40.

Not to mention the GP38-2 in the past. But who's counting.

Tbh I really wish DTG look at the suggestion pages and see what route ideas are getting the most attention, so they can use that to pick and make their next route.
I think also it’s time for the team venture out of the UK, US and German cycle and learn a new signalling system in a different country.

We absolutely need more EMD, i mean for mainline duty role. Last time we get new proper EMD engine on TSW2 was SMH SD70ACe. Don't get me wrong, i do love GE engines, but wouldn't it be nice if we have more variety.

Other than the SD70Ace, the SD 40's and the Geeps, I'm not sure what EMD's you'd be looking for that we don't already have. The F7 will make it 2 out of 3 on Cajon Pass.

For Union Pacific The SD70M, which they roster a ton, for BNSF, they have the fleet of Ex-BN Executive SD70MACs, as well as the rarer SD75M and SD75I.

You could also technically bundle the SD75M/I together as they pretty much share the same carbody minus the isolated cab on the SD75I.

SD70M Phase 2 (the one with semi-flared radiator if i'm not mistaken) would be great addition for Sherman Hill

The issue at hand is that there's not many locomotives to choose from. In my opinion stuff like SD70's are one and the same as the SD40-2. And most modern day Class One railroads in the US have the same equipment. Eventually the issue will become there's nothing to do for locomotives. At the time there's stuff they can do. It seems like they are just lazy.

Correct and the 182 can serve as a basis for its Austrian cousins the 1116 & 1016. Put the electronic systems of DB BR189 & 193 Vectron onto a 182 bodyshell you get a DB BR183 Neu and OBB Baureihe 1216. On SFS Hannover Wurzburg put a Virtual Railfancamera at Rohrbach Passing loop the 182 runs there during the late nights around 02:40 from Wurzburg heading towards the Main Spessart Bahn where it arrives at Aschaffenburg Hbf at 03:20. Back to Wurzburg from Main Spessart Bahn Aschaffenburg, it's the 02:01 trip 02:41 Wurzburg. The Hamburg Nightjet Train is a DB BR101

Even I could go for another US historic route at this point. Not only for the F7, currently, but any locos that isn't a GEVO or an ACe, let alone another carbon copy of GP38s or SD40s. But alas, only time will tell to see if it can be possible again.

I just own the German edition of TSW3. Does it mean that I would buy all three locos, but only the 182 would be available for me in the game?

The only thing that kinda makes sense is the F7, as just taking the Clinchfield F7 and put it onto Cajon Pass wouldn't make sense, so there was a clear requirement for a new skin.

But for the rest? Why are we getting "expansion packs" on routes that were released less than a month ago? Why weren't the additional Class 66 services already part of the original package? The route was already has a class 66.

This had to be worked on parallel with the initial TSW 3 content and basically feels like a day 1 DLC, and a way for DTG recuperate the lower cost of individual routes in the TSW 3 bundle.

I like it that the loco's are available separately. Sure they are reskins but not everyone has every route. If more interested in a loco than a route you don't have to buy an entire route for it.

But even for such a "low effort" DLC, they still have options in terms of reskins for the locos we have. Yes, they would need to change some details, but it's better than what they're doing. Variety is seriously lacking in US freight content.

Also... there might be a pattern here... this is the second DLC of this type, and it went basically like this:
    New Journeys:
Germany - "Let's make a super huge upgrade for SKA with close-to-correct EMU reskin"
UK - "IDK... repaint something, nobody cares."
US - "IDK... repaint something, nobody cares."

    Loco Bundle:
UK - "Let's make 4 new freight cars, brand new type of services, reskin C66 and add new functionalities."
Germany - "IDK... repaint something, nobody cares."
US - "IDK... repaint something, nobody cares."

So maybe... third time's the charm for the US, and the UK/German additions will be the boring ones... :D

...the idea of bringing out additional packages seems to have caught on. Rivet started with the Ge 4/4 pack at the end of last year. Of course the liveries are also available in CC, but the F7 alone cannot be faithfully reproduced. Above all, the metal effect of Santa Fe, which according to the screenshot clearly reflects the surroundings, is an example of this. The livery designer tool does not yet simulate such material differences. It's also fair to offer each loco individually, so you take what you prefer. Of course, in these times everyone pays attention to the cent or penny and many will wait for the next discount campaign, but it is still better to bring more variations to existing routes than too many routes that are essentially the same.

Looking at these two next to each other, the shape of the F7 has actually seen quite a bunch of changes (air hoses, horns, windows, headlight, sand fillers, fuel tank)... props there... seems like the amount of effort is actually... bigger than what they would need to do to bring in the SD70Ace... siiigh

Trouble with EMD’s is that there is an element of same old, same old especially when it comes to sound. That’s why it would be nice to see Alco’s or older GE’s added to the collection. Of course DTG are not alone in the modern focus, Run 8 also lacks vintage diesels to try out.

Information on Scenarios/services for the pack (will add this to the second post in the thread):
    • Scenarios: 3 scenarios for each core route. 3 for the RHTT on SEHS, 3 for the 182 on KWG, and 3 for the F7 on Cajon. So 9 scenarios all together.
    • Timetables: All trains layer onto existing timetables, no second timetables created.
    • Services:
      • The RHTT adds 16 playable services and 20 AI services all for September - November months only. And also some static "stored" RHTT wagons during the other months where RHTT operations are not required.
      • The 182 adds about 10 drivable services to Kassel's timetable (1-2 AI services)
      • The F7 adds 18 drivable services to the Cajon timetable (no AI)

Yes, because we were all clamouring for yet another variant of the Class 66... Ooooo but this one's dirty now!! It's completely different!!!

Just for once I'd like to see DTG release a completely new British loco, it's been ages since they did. How many times are they gonna charge people for reskins? I'm personally not interested in the other two locos. I'd rather spend my £4.99 on a Tesco meal deal and a packet of Haribo.

The biggest problem I have with these type of packs, is that 80% of the content could have been achievable by the community if the editor and third-party liveries (not using the livery editor) were released and allowed. Hard to justify paying for similar looking locos again. Even worse still, having spoken to DTG employees on Discord who stated that they don't believe in locking reskins behind paywalls or achievements.

    Disappointing in my opinion.

Actually, the title of the article is a bit ambivalent - "New Loco Bundle" could lead you to believe we are getting some genuine new loco types to play with. Should really say, "Loco Reskin And Scenario + RHTT Bundle".

As I mooted earlier, I genuinely worry there are few people currently working at DTG who can create from scratch, whether it's routes or locos/trainsets. Would love to be proved wrong on that, of course.

Given that DB own EWS, I'm not sure that's a particularly important distinction.

Not quite at parity yet. :)

Spirit of Steam was only a few months ago.

It's a new bundle of locos. It's not like you only get the wheels. You get the entire loco in a new bundle pack. This is for me also not the DLC I was looking forward too. I don't like freight so this DLC is rather useless to me but I'm not tearing it down just because it's not what I want from DLC. I'm not DTG's biggest fan at the moment but try hitting them where it matters. If the loco's break the game, have an awful sound or whatever could be wrong with them then it is time to start calling them "cash grabbers" or whatever you like them call them. The bundle is not out yet so the only thing you can do is just ignore this DLC till it's proven that it is a "cash grab".

Companies need to make money, DLC is one of the best options to make money for DTG. If no one was waiting for a reskinned loco they would not try to sell it because they sell it in the first place to earn money.

I don't know if such formations occurred in nature or will appear in the game, but if they are, I hope RadioCommON has been fixed for F7 in case of DPU / helper consists.

The F7 from CRR was released without banking com, even though some services had helper pairs at the rear. This omission was never corrected.

How that's going to work on Cajon Pass who knows.

When F7's were operating in real life, distributed power did not exist, a separate engineer would operate the helpers.

Does DTG have a lack of 3D-artists?

These aren't really new locos right, they are repaints!? Or are there any kind of differences to the cabs as well? Sounds...etc.?

Considering the Cajon timetable has services split into 2, that's 9 through trains, each 2-3 hours long... yeah... if you buy this, you WILL see the F7s probably every time you drive the whole route... if only so much work went into something accurate...

You'll be able to put these into Training Center using the Scenario Planner, yes (they won't appear on Training Center organically though).

As mentioned in the article, it'll be a little later down the line - but we're working on it!
