Alex... today we will be able to download our previous routes we had on TSW,3 and previous ones too. But there was also mentioned about a very big patch for those routes. So how we install them? First we download each route, and finally there will be in the Play Store - in my case - another file including the path? Or will be the patch already included in the routes we will download? I noticed, the really long awaited DB BR 187 sounds, be included there. Great!
slightly unrelated but this is my theory, I heard that MCRE is actually being acquired by another company (and is aiming for early 2024 for all the railcars to be acquired) which is a bit unfortunate but may be the reason why not MCRE.
I think the routes maybe patched already before you download them (just a guess). So in theory there wont be a mega patch But I could be wrong. I'm not overly convinced on the sounds for the 187. Need to have a listen in my headphones if its any better or worse. Hentis
No Patch DL on Steam yet, it seems DLC's are still coming to the store. Nothing from the old DLC's is "owned" yet on Steam. Guess we have to wait a bit longer.
What do you think the price of these 2 will be?Also like other recent separate loco's i'm guessing you don't need the route they go with to use them.
do note this transfer for PC Steam also had this issue happen when we moved from TSW2 To TSW3 its saying u have to buy each DLC again yeah same here i knew that this issue would happen because i knew better and are such a OG Of TSW Now and know that nothing runs smooth at Dovetail
Still the same, no DLC owned and even no patch yet. I understand about the DLC but I really wonder why no patch yet (yes restarting steam all the time)
There's good reason to exercise some patience and wait an hour or two with downloading from Steam, until the dust settles.
Anyone with larger DLC collections having loading issues on Series X? The game keeps crashing on the loading screen after a few minutes. I've observed this behavior on my father-in-law's One X with TSW3, but my Series X loaded everything without issue (just took a few minutes to boot).
Yea it only took 3 hours to upload my entire library. Steam has been five hours and still only at 50%
TSW 4 for some reason crash for me. I don't know if this is because certain mod is causing the crash but this is the result LoginId:cc923e0d41584e7e71d75c9870d683cc EpicAccountId: LowLevelFatalError [File:Unknown] [Line: 1038] This platform requires cooked packages, and shaders were not cooked into this material None. Alright team! Now that TSW4s out the door let's get working on TSW5! Updates? No, TSW5 is our priority now! -DTG
That is almost certainly mod related- first thing with any crash is remove mods and add back in one at a time to see which one is causing it.
Some feedback to DTG about the update: I have quite a lot of DLC (basically all of Germany, maybe 50% of UK and some US and other routes). Last week I downloaded TSW Deluxe edition from Steam, it was something in the range of a 35GB download. Today all of my DLC is downloading, while still installed on my TSW3 installation. It is roughly 150GB worth of content, so all together I'm downloading almost 200GB of content this week. I would suggest DTG to try and find a solution to port over the DLC between TSW versions without having to redownload everything. In Belgium we still don't have unlimited download capacity, so I 'll have to monitor my internet usage for the next month to make sure I 'm not put on small band. Luckily I have a 2TB NVMe drive, so storage capacity is no issue, but I think there should be smarter solutions than redownloading everything. I understand that different distributors use different update systems, but it's a win for everybody if users can upgrade their game content without having to redownload everything: it takes less time and bandwidth for the user (the update today takes more than 4 hours) and it demands a lot less server capacity for the distributors, thus saves on energy bills and distribution costs and increases the profit both DTG and distributors can make on a new TSW version. I understand I'm not asking something simple, but if DTG plans on releasing a new TSW version yearly from now on, this will save a lot for both the users and DTG. What I'm asking is not rocket science: file versioning systems are in use for decades now.
I don't know how Steam works, but as far as the MS Store is concerned, a TSW3 DLC has an ID and a TSW4 DLC has a different ID. Even if the DLCs are identical in terms of content, the Store sees them as separate entities. Furthermore, the TSW3 DLC is connected to the TSW3 game, while the TSW4 DLC is connected to the TSW4 game, and, as you might guess, each game has its own distinct ID. Even if DTG would like to fix this, it's the MS Store that forces the new "titles" (separate IDs) which leads to re-downloading everything. Yes, a possible "solution" would be to stop the new version each year (or whatever interval) and have a single game, and then all the DLCs would be there, like we see TSC, the truck sim games, maybe others. However, that would probably only work for Steam, but not for consoles. I don't remember the reasons.
Turned on the PC this morning. Logged into Steam (PC Player) and the old content automatically started to download [78GB] My only criticism so far is there is an audio bug with the Azuma horn at high speed. I approve of the new in-game UI.
My bought addons DB BR 182 and DB BR 155 still haven't moved from TSW3 to TSW4. It's marked as not bought by me on the steam website.
I got 100 GB downloaded last night and I´m missing the BR 182, BR 155 and Rhein-Ruhr Osten in TSW 4. Everything else is there... let´s wait and see, if they turn up the next couple of days.
The price of TSW4 is less than what 3 new routes would cost. The purpose of the annual update is not to charge you more money. I suspect it might be the huge list of bugs that they don't want to fix. It's easier to call the old software "legacy" and shelf it. But then why still support 80+ DLCs?
The pricing is NOT the point here. The point is that if you want to continue to get updates and get bug fixes, you have to pay for the new game. Sure it may be a bargain for what's offered, but when you have are forced to buy it to get support for the game, then it becomes a problem. What if for example I didn't want any of the included routes, but wanted the NYT timetable that is looking like it's only coming to TSW 4, even though it was promised for 3? Or, I wanted a future DLC but couldn't get it without buying another one I didn't want first? The easiest solution is to do what DTG did with TSC, free updates and a new route bundle each year. This would also keep everything on the store available for the one game without needing changes.
Did DTG awnsered the Question, why a TSW4 and not just an Update for 3? I suspect it has something to do with Add-on Manager for Xbox and PC. If comments from JD and Co. are to be believed, this seems to have caused more problems than it solved
Question for DTG! When will this stop and can I access the NEC New York-Trenton DLC? What is happening to you now greatly irritates me and I am incredibly angry at your presentation of a new product. My Steam purchase. A day of waiting has already passed. Why was there such a mess?
Did you try restarting Steam? Have a little patience, everything will be sorted. Nothing to be mad about.
I don't think dtg could have predicted it. Valve is based in the west coast of the us, so their day started not so long ago, so they and dtg will fix the issues. Some may require more investigation than others. Getting angry won't do you any good. Some patience is required even if you might not take this well
Imagine buying a brand new car: you go to the showroom, test drive, see the price, pay the amount, and drive off in the car. You paid the price asked for the car as it was. They don't make promises for more features to be added after the purchase, do they? And if more features were made available one year after the purchase, they would not be free, and you'd likely have to buy a new car to get them. When you bought NYT route, there was no promise of a new timetable, was there? That came after, when people complained that the original timetable was too sparse. After they bought it, they wanted more route for the price they initially paid. I've said this before and will say it again, though people don't seem to listen: If you don't like the route as is, don't buy it. It's the only way to force DTG to produce better routes in the future. If you bought it, enjoy it as it is, and don't expect more stuff added for free, because that's not how the economy works.
Sorry but that is utter BS. If that car was broken, you have to buy a new car? Or is it on the dealer to fix? DTG has promised that the NYT timetable will come to TSW 3, but that looks like another broken promise in a long, long list of them. UPDATES/BUG FIXES SHOULD NEVER, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE, BE PAID
How is NYT broken? Works very well for me. And if it was "broken", why did you buy it? If we were talking bugs, sure, you can expect them fixed for free. But a new timetable, because you weren't happy with the original, is neither broken, nor should it be free. It's a lot of work that was not part of the sale contract. I know it's not what you wanted to hear, and shouting doesn't make you right.
I didn't buy it. TSW is a lackluster, poor excuse of a simulator compared to TSC. I only keep up on the American DLC, and the deal with recent DTG releases is quite appaling, as well as the whole TSW 4 debalace. Aside the fact that yeah, it could have been a paid expansions for NYT, DTG literally promised that it would be a free update. That is what is wrong here. Not the paywall locking, but the fact that DTG lied about it.
aim is Tuesday i believe but dtg have other more important things to do such as ensuring everyone has their content and issues dealt with.
This isn’t TSC. The price structuring and the way they release content has changed a lot in the past 10 years. DTG never lied though. It is a free update within TSW4. DTG are a business, they’re not going to support last years version (TSW3). You either get with the times or you get left behind. I also picked up FC 24, could’ve stuck with FIFA 23, but then I wouldn’t have all the updated player roasters for the year.
Is the Upgrade Pack planned to be sold separately or will it only be available through the Edition Packs?
