Some shots of a crossing of a CP train and a CN train, with Searchilght's enhancement for ES44, JR cylinder hoppers and AB double stacks. Route: Canadian Mountain Passes. Scenario: leaving Revelstoke part 2 from RBJets in the workshop, with some rolling stock changes by me.

Looks nice with a lot of interesting details. The official shots gave me a distinct Horseshoe Curve v2 vibe, this is better
Rounding out my documented adventures with the Class 158 in Central Trains colors, I decided to try old Somerset & Dorset. Back when playing those routes I shot neither enough nor well enough. Looking at my collection statistics I decided to give a try to these under-covered places, hoping to find a few nice spots. I made the safe choice and went for summer, with the usual cloudy to add some texture. Although certainly dated, I was pleasantly surprised. 1) Green Go - Class 158 in Central Trains passing a farm just north of Templecombe (Somerset & Dorset Joint Railway) 2) Pennsy - PRR GG1 southbound around Elizabeth, New Jersey (Northeast Corridor, New York - Philadelphia) 3) Dependence - UP 3300 leads two other SD40-2 units taking a stack up Donner Pass 4) Empties - BR moves an assortment of GWR wagons past sticky trees in early spring (BR's East Coast Mainline, London-Pb.) 5) Drag Gear - A powerful Lamborghini tills the farm at day, drags at night (BR's East Coast Mainline, London-Pb.)
GlennockCreations' Island of Sodor route has to be one of the best freeware routes out there in my opinion. Today I did a short run on the Skarloey Railway and oh my, it is absolutely gorgeous. I love it so much! Thomas the Tank Engine fan or not, you will probably love this route. Here is part 1 of what will be a multiple part run on the Skarloey Railway, however at this stage I do not know how many parts there will be. In part 1, we see Kerr Stuart Tattoo Class 'Peter Sam' doing a midday run starting at Crovans Gate and in part 1, will be ending with stopping at Cros-ny-Cuirn. Another day, another stretch on the Skarloey Railway begins. Kerr Stuart Tattoo Class 'Peter Sam' has departed from Cros-ny-Cuirn and is once again underway on this beautiful railway. The train will then be stopping later at the Picnic Halt and not too long after, at the nearby station of Glennock to drop off and pick up passengers as well as refill the locomotive with water. I've been holding off, but I think this is the straw that broke the camels back over the AP weather pack 2.0
Yep, that's the one. It is a small narrow gauge american route built by a fan and available for free on steam workshop here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2096061961 It is certainly a small and simple route (vast majority single track, no singals etc), but it has a lot of soul and atmosphere.
I will be splitting this session of the Skarloey Railway section into 3 parts, because this part of the route has to be my favourite so far and I can not just show only 5 screenshots!! Here we see Kerr Stuart Tattoo Class 'Peter Sam' after departing Glennock, travelling through some of the most scenic locations of the Skarloey Railway with the next stop being at Rheneas. The run starting at Crovans Gate started exactly at mid day at 12:00pm, and upon arriving at Rheneas it was 12:45pm. So the run has been a nice 45 minute long journey so far!! Still a bit more to go though! Loco: Kerr Stuart Tattoo Class Route: Island of Sodor
Part 2! Here we see 'Peter Sam' coming out of Rheneas Tunnel and crossing the breathtaking Rheneas Viaduct. Loco: Kerr Stuart Tattoo Class Route: Island of Sodor
Part 3! Here we have 'Peter Sam' coming to a stop at Rheneas. Loco: Kerr Stuart Tattoo Class Route: Island of Sodor

After departing Rheneas, there is a junction where the line splits in two and eventually joins up again at the end of the passenger line on the Skarloey Railway, which is at Skarloey Station. I decided to take Kerr Stuart Tattoo Class 'Peter Sam' up the nothern route to Skarloey that passes by some amazingly scenic views of the lake. The train made one stop in between Rheneas and Skarloey which was at Lakeside, an industrial town where the ships of the lake reside. There will be one more part after this, where I will shunt around my coaches at Skarloey and head in reverse to Rheneas and go down the line that heads south of Rheneas instead. Loco: Kerr Stuart Tattoo Class Route: Island of Sodor
Here is the final part of the complete Skarloey Railway Passenger Run. Kerr Stuart Tattoo Class 'Peter Sam' has now arrived at Skarloey and shunts around the coaches and begins the journey back to Rheneas by taking the south line instead of the northern one, which was taken in the last part to get to Skarloey. With the train arriving back at Rheneas, we have completed the entire passenger run of the Skarloey Railway! Truly a very beautiful journey and was absolutely amazing to drive. The whole journey took around an hour and 20 minutes to complete. Loco: Kerr Stuart Tattoo Class Route: Island of Sodor
DB ICE 1 '401 059-1' leads a passenger train starting at Siegen Hbf and ending at Hagen Hbf with 10 stops in between travelling a total distance of 105 kilometres during an Autumns morning with beautiful sun rise that is so bright it almost removes the "ICE" text from the side of the train! Locos: DB Class 294, ICE 1 Route: Ruhr-Sieg
In the misty early morning light of a summer's day, a GWR 4575-class tank engine trundles through the Welsh countryside towards Temsby with the overnight through coach from London Paddington. This started its journey nine hours earlier in the 9.25pm Paddington-Neyland express, booked the traditional route via Gloucester and Chepstow, and detached at Llanfwhere Junction at 5.17am, where it had to wait for nearly an hour for the branch 'boxes to open for business at 6am. The 'Bloater' fish van was added at Gloucester (Central) having worked down from Birmingham Snow Hill the previous evening, and will return the following evening by way of Carmarthen, Newport and Hereford.
Moving on to the last livery in the Class 158 pack, Northern. Minor differences from the Settle-Carlisle pack. Since I already have some coverage of the Northern 158 (with SC), I decided on diverging from lush season, capturing my very first spring photos. As the routes has no grass and just a few types of bushes outside summer, it's a bit challenging, but the minimalist nature can work, at least so I hoped. It certainly was nice to drive, with some pretty views as well, but I dropped most of them afterwards realising it's just a messy blob of green. Have a few enjoyable ones anyway, particularly with the slightly deeper sky colors. 1) Garsdale Viaduct - Class 158 Northern about to stop at the former junction (Settle - Carlisle) 2) ICE is coming - ICE 1 northbound between Bonn and Köln (Köln - Koblenz) 3) Havant Highball - Class 33 NSE with matching Mk2s departs Havant (Portsmouth Direct Line, 2018) 4) Bridgetown - Class 33 in BR Green with Mk1s enters Durham station on the East Coast Mainline (Weardale & Teesdale) 5) Inventory - Silo and cooling wagons of the 1970s DB Freight pack at Finnentrop (Hagen - Siegen)
National Express East Anglia Class 321 '321426' leads 12 car long service 2F71 Ipswich - Colchester with a stop at Manningtree in between on a glorious Summers evening. After dropping off passengers at Colchester, the train will then pull into the sidings at Colchester where the train will then stay overnight before resuming services again the next morning. Locos: British Rail Class 90, British Rail Class 321, British Rail Mk3 DVT Route: Great Eastern Main Line London-Ipswich
Some more shots from the Temsby branch. I can't get enough of this wonderful route, it genuinely oozes atmosphere and authenticity. Having shunted its coach to the carriage sidings and the fish van back into the bay platform for loading, 4588 has retired to Temsby shed for coal and watering. It will later assemble and take out the 9.30am goods to Carmarthen. Meanwhile, small Pannier 5409 is being prepared for the 8.45am branch passenger to Llanfwhere Junction. We see the branch train pausing at Anesworth alongside a mixed bag of wagons that will be collected by the goods train in about an hour's time. And finally arrived at the Junction. Passengers will only have to wait about 10 minutes for the next train to Carmarthen, the 9.45am stopping passenger from Whitland.
