It would be nice to run a train to Buxton sidings then head to Buxton Station & then head out North.
Set 6 of a multipart chronological depiction of a mid-summer stopping passenger service QD, from Carlisle to Settle, on DTG Settle to Carlisle route. Prime motivation for the run was to check out the then recently installed AP Veggie Pack. It also came to me that I've never featured Donington's Midland Rwy reskin for CW's GERT26 2-4-0 tendered steam locomotive. According to Rail Map Online, Settle to Carlisle was, in pre-grouping days, part of MidRwy. That, plus an absence of bona fide MR steam locos in my roundhouse, makes the reskin a logical choice. A between-stations set. Though we inch ever closer to terminus, landscape has not yet become so barren/unfinished as to limit capture opportunities: This being my first full-route run with AP's Veggie Pack implemented, I was at first apprehensive. By this point in the drive I was totally convinced of the Pack's worth, images two and three showing near-track vegetation improvements to good advantage: RW Enhancer 2 (partially gimped due to serz.exe error), AP S&W2+Clouds+Veggies TO BE CONTINUED . . .

Sets 3-4 in a multipart chronological depiction of a mid-autumn morning stopping passenger service Heritage Rail Tour QD, from London to Peterborough, on DTG ECML London - Peterborough route. Motive power is Caledonia Works' GER T69 4-6-0 tendered steam loco, seen in LNER B12 Lined Black Livery. It hauls what QD terms the 1936 Queen of Scotland Coach Set. As such, I selected Queen of Scots for the loco's headboard. We travel the "slow" track, allowing stops at all stations en route. The discrepancy between loco numbers occurring between images three and four is due to my having a brain fart and overwriting the QD save while auditioning a new purchase. Looking at your wonderful captures has made me realise just how much TSC has evolved over the years, especially with the wonderful contributions from 3rd Party Developers. One of my first ever purchases was the East Coast Mainline and how much fun did I have with that, I absolutely loved it. Tonight I ran a quick scenario using the JT Wessex Line and AP Class 37 & ICA Tanks. I just could not help pausing and realising just how much this old game has grown over the years. It has become a whole new simulator for me. From the locos & Rolling Stock to the Vegetation/Weather/Clouds ............. the list goes on. Long Live TSC .............

Indeed, the AP enhancements are tempting me back in. Their foliage pack is amazing, something I've been hoping to see appear for years. It's inspired me to go back in and use it to tweak routes, especially the amazing JT MML. Have been going over cab rides etc, and it's crazy how accurate the route is, right down to tree placements and even the lean of a signal or jucntion box! Fair play to Tom and Mark.
Set 5 in a multipart series chronologically documenting a mid-Autumn morning stopping passenger service Heritage Rail Tour QuickDrive, from Crewe to Holyhead, on North Wales Coast Line route, acquired during Steam's Winter 2023/24 sale. Having belonged to LNWR in pre-grouping days, I power the train with a favorite steam-era loco, Caledonia Works' LNWR "Greater Britain", No.3435 "Queen Empress" to be exact, seen in Lilac & Cream livery. Though Greater Britain looks to be a conventional 2-4-2 tendered locomotive, it is in actuality a 2-2-2-2 compound loco. It pulls four LNWR coaches, the last of them an observation coach, which I fail to get a decent capture of. On display are AP's Vegetation, Weather, and Clouds Packs, as well as RW Enhancer 2. Part 10, the penultimate installment in a chronological depiction of an Autumn morning stopping passenger service Heritage Rail Tour QD, from Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh on Just Trains - The Kyle Line, a route purchased at the tail end of Steam's Autumn 2023 sale. The train consists of a Caledonia Works Highland Railway "Jones Goods" 4-6-0 tendered steam loco, seen in radioactive yellow livery, pulling four AP MK1 coaches. According to (link) Rail Map Online - UK & IE Railways (link) Kyle Line was, during the pre-grouping era, part of The Highland Railway, making it a suitable match for the loco though, as one viewer points out, in real life the loco likely never traveled the entirety of this section of the line during its days of active service. Merseyrail Class 507 EMU arrives at Cressington on a 14:51 Hunts Cross to Southport working during March 2024:
Gone Dutch - I very much wanted to try ChrisTrains' NS2200 diesel so I looked to see if I could wangle it into a UK scene as a private owned job then thought I should try to find a Dutch route. Wow, there is a whole Dutch world out there mostly excellent free routes with a very good priced "Starter set" from Wlibur Graphics (contains a fictitious route and a load of assets inc. locos, wagons and units. Since found dozens of freeware routes and hundreds of scenarios. Much is in English and Dutch but with a little application I have managed to read enough Dutch to get the gist where necessary. Spent some wedge on more stock but the NS1500 was freeware and runs a dream (doesn't need the Woodhead 77). Here's a few shots of the first scenario I've written for the Dutch route "Zuid West Nederlands" showing NS 1503 (ex BRclass 77) on a container train from Vlissingen Oost (also known as SLOE Haven) heading for Eindhoven and Venlo (for Germany). Installment 5 in a multipart chronological depiction of an Autumn morning stopping passenger service QuickDrive on Golden Age Developments' freeware West of England Mainline route, recently updated to "phase 2", which extends tracks further eastward to Yeovil Town. Our journey begins there, stopping at all stations until the drive terminates at Exeter. I considered using an official standard scenario for this first complete run on the extended route, but didn't want the hassle of keeping to a possibly tight timetable that might impede screenshot capture. That being the case, I elected to power the train with Caledonia Works' rendering of the LSWR 415/0415 class 4-4-2T steam locomotive, commonly known as the Adams Radial Tank. It is seen in Adams Brown Livery, pulling six LSWR coaches. The loco proved insufficient for the task at hand, though we finish the run, by means I'll divulge at the appropriate time. In my usual style, a few recent wanderings within the sim (and my personal memories!) I've been really enjoying some of the recent screenshot postings, great stuff everyone. The concept of 'a railway scene without a train' is an interesting one and shows just how good TSC can be. It's 1991 and the (short-lived) Class 47/4 drag of an IC225 set between Leeds and Harrogate crosses Arthington Viaduct with the down 'Yorkshire Pullman'. This service was withdrawn as a through service about a year later due to low patronage beyond Leeds, saving a great deal of ECS mileage in the process. Now arrived at Harrogate, the (few remaining) passengers detrain and the locomotive prepares to take the stock forward to Leeds via York and Garforth. The Class 91 would then put its pan back up and go empty to Neville Hill traction depot. On a completely different setting, preserved GWR Castle no.7029 Clun Castle storms the last few yards of 1:49 into Goathland platform. The down train is already waiting to cross. The 'window hanger's view' as 46115 Scots Guardsman takes the return Scarborough Spa Express into Standedge Tunnel, after a long steady climb from Leeds. And finally, a full house at Huddersfield. The 2108 Marsden-Leeds has arrived at platform 4 where it will stand for 8 minutes to be overtaken by the 2055 Manchester Piccadilly-Hull.
And a couple more shots of Huddersfield. I think the AP lighting pack is probably the enhancement that kept me playing the game.
Part 2 of 2 Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe EMD F3A '33C' departs shortly after arrival at Flagstaff, Arizona and continues eastbound on the Seligman Subdivision without issue to it's next stop of Winslow; transitioning from mountainous hilly areas with vegetation to the more typical barren orange and reddish deserts of Arizona travelling at high speeds of mostly 90mph upon reaching the straight tracks of the desert and traveling 58 miles on this clear Summer morning run on the El Capitan passenger service during 1968. Unlike my other thread postings this is not, as of now, part of a multi-installment drive chronicle but rather a short initial test drive of what was, at the time, a newly acquired locomotive: Caledonia Works' LNWR 18inch Goods 0-6-0 tendered steam loco, aka Crested Goods, aka Cauliflower. CW's supplied manual states, "The Cauliflowers were always classed as mixed traffic locos despite the wheel arrangement. <snip>. There are many fine runs credited to the class over the West Coast main line, and it was not unusual to see one of the class working an express passenger train or semi-fast out of Euston." Ergo, seen below is the beginning of an early daylight run on WCML South, beginning at Euston Station and ending soon thereafter at the route's first station stop. I worried that the combination of dark sky and black loco might provide no post-worthy captures. Thankfully, this was not the case. Next DLC - Köln-Koblenz. I've ran this in 2018, had a few captures, but it's definitely worth a revisit. This is a scene where I like the updated cloud colors (gray instead of white). The class is funny - DABpbzkfa - I didn't accidentally drop my tea mug on the keyboard. Each letter means something specific, such as Driving, AB is supposedly mixed class (no yellow stripe though), and so on. As far as Google tells me, this is fictional. I suppose the route stock is a reskin of the Metronom DLC. There is, however, DBpbzfa both in DB Red and DB IC liveries. Complementing the above nicely is a full ICE 1 on München-Augsburg. Night scene from London-Faversham - Class 33 and MJA wagons. The turn of 2020-2021 was a point where I really wanted to add variety by capturing trains in various environments. This morning, 24 Apr 2024, I bought a CW LNWR Coal Tank, on sale until tomorrow the 25th, as are most of their products. I've wanted one for some time, despite it being an early CW release, less sophisticated as their recent output. I plopped it down on Merthyr, Tredegar & Abergavenny, a third-party route, only long enough to capture this image. The LNWR Coal Tank was once a mainstay of the MTA. And now a reskin of the CW SECR class C into an NSR class C. I DL'd this skin a few years ago, but never bothered to install it until now, likely because I possess no NSR routes for TSC.
