Part of my messing around with the Kiel - Lübeck route involves backdating to the mid 1990s and as a result I have replaced some colour light signals with semaphores in Lübeck Hbf, Bad Schwartau and Ascheberg (so far). Lübeck Hbf was well known for its array of semaphores up to the electrification team hitting town. I have also re-instated the sidings at Bad Schwartau (which became redundant when the Puttgarden train ferry stopped in the late 2000s), Eutin which are shown in the game as disconnected so I've re-connected them (I'll use them for timber traffic) and I've inserted a part of the Ascheberg to Neumünster line that was abandoned in 1996 and lifted not long after although freight only in its last 10 years or so. Here is a shot of Ascheberg South end with the BR291 waiting to come off the Neumünster line (with a military train for Eutin barracks) and it will follow the Vehrkersrot BR628/928 leaving for Lübeck as on the right a Kiel bound Mint Grun BR628/928 unit arrives having cleared the single track. This is a part of a scenario written for the backdated line.
Bought Caledonia Works' LNWR Claughton Pack-1 during their ongoing (as of 05/25/2022) 20% Off Flash-Sale. Gave it a few quickie QD trial runs, on Settle & Carlisle route. We see it in LMS Black, hauling a long rake of LMS coaches, as it exits Carlisle Station: Two views captured further along the line, the Claughton now clad in LNWR Photographic Grey, hauling LNWR carriages:
An addendum to my earlier post. Just when I thought it was safe to go back into the water, an e-mail appeared in my in-basket, informing me that MT/SSS LNWR Coach Pack No.4 is available for purchase. MT/SSS coach packs are almost always insta-buys for me, this pack being no exception. I of course had to see them in action, so launched TSC and plopped one of the pack's pre-configured QD consists down at Carlisle Station. Ironically, the below capture shows only a sliver of one coach. None of several coach-centric captures taken during the extremely short run were deemed fit for public display. The featured loco is CW's LNWR class 380, seen in BR livery. I had trouble unearthing a visually interesting camera position, until a gentleman awaiting transport on another platform positioned himself in the perfect spot to add a little zest to the capture:
Unused photos for this weeks screenshot contest. 1st one was based on UP's City of Las Vegas, which originally utilized the GM Aerotrain, however, it couldn't get up Cajon Pass without helpers IRL. 2nd unused photo, this was based on SP's Overnight Service along the Coast Line, however the train IRL didn't use GP9's, so the photo idea was scrapped. 3rd Unused photo. Nothing special, just DRGW F3's by Castle Gate, this scheme actually didn't last very long into the 1950's
I've said before that I am always fiddling with routes and I never have just one or even two on the go. This is an adaption of Vern Moorhouse's Norwegian route "Sulitjelma" which I have been working on, on and off (more off) for about 4 years changing my mind what to do with it (or should that be to it). I have added sidings for timber traffic, built a quayside at Finneid (rail connected of course) and put in turntables at Finneid and Lomi as well as resignalling the route using Norwegian signals (not available when the route was built). I have also given Lomi Works an engine shed so that they do their own shunting with second hand locos this one is Lomi 3 a relabel of a DB V45 (BR245) and of French origin. It is seen shoving around some relabelled Uc cement tanks of typical Scandinavian design. I hope Vern recognises the scene as I have retained the vast majority of his excellent route. Top to bottom: Lomi Works looking North, The Works yard looking South, Lomi 3 at the entrance to the Works yard, and Lomi 3 pottering around in the yard.
Here are some Edited Pictures of some previously posted series... 1) Bahnstrecke Strasbourg - Karlsruhe. 2) Bahnstrecke Leipzig-Dresden. 3) Mighty Seddin Freight.

Yet more views of the (CW) LNWR Claughton in photographic grey, hauling LNWR coaches on Settle to Carlisle. This was my longest Claugthton run yet, its primary goal to test CW's auto-fireman in F4-mode. (CW's manual states that, while auto-fireman can be used with F4-mode, it works best without the HUD.) I'm happy to report that Otto performed admirably. I did not plan to stop the rather long train at this pint-size station. In the heat of battle, I forgot this until having slowed the train to around 18mph. That being the case, I decided it made sense to allow the train to stop and give Otto time to totally replenish boiler water, somewhat diminished following a long climb:
Caledonia Works' Claughton makes yet another appearance, now clad in an LMS black livery, hauling LMS coaches along West of Scotland Lines (The Port Road). Two captures at Carlisle station: Your average on-the-go capture, taken at one of the Quick Drive's key-4 camera positions: Two images at the run's first stop:
The first train of the day, kissed by early morning sun. Route Berlin - Leipzig by Aerosoft, Virtual Railroads' 101 Loco and 3DZug's coaches.

I'm not a 'contest' guy. Yet this week's Unofficial Screenshot Contest theme, Unique Consists or Unique, Weird or Unusual Trains, spurred me to create and document one such consist. It appears below (but not in the contest thread). We see an express passenger train at Whimple Station, a stop on West of England Mainline route's Exeter to Axminster run. Motive power is Wayside Works Manning Wardle Class-K in striped green. It being somewhat unrealistic for the Class-K to make so long a run on what its small bunker and tank hold, the train includes a coal and tank wagons immediately behind the loco. Behind those is a long rake of Southern Bulleid Coaches, ten or so, I forgot to count: It took two tries to capture these images. First attempt, the train immediately began to roll backwards. (Whimple is on a slight slope.) I quickly applied the Class-K's hand brake. (It has no train/loco brake.) It did nothing. I thought to apply individual car hand brakes, but was in F3-HUD mode. By the time I'd switched to the F4-HUD and stopped the train, it had backed too far. And of course there is no way the Class-K was going to pull all those cars forward enough to capture decent images, slope or no slope. But hey, contest rules don't specify that a consist must be functional.

British Locomotive Studio's blue reskin of Caledonia Works' SECR class C, pulling three 'birdcage' coaches. It is seen on what was, until recently, a WorkShop preview of Hampshire Lines - Steam Era. Not finding a link to it there earlier today, I unearthed a post by the creator stating that is has been removed. A finalized version will appear elsewhere. In an odd coincidence, I now can't find the SECR class C blue reskin at BLS. The below captures are confined to station stops, as countryside scenery on the route's Workshop preview is/was rather sparse.
Here's one of those spur-of-the-moment on-the-fly captures you see potential in, hope for the best, but expect to delete. For what little it's worth, the loco is again CW's SECR class C in BLS's blue reskin. The route is GAD West of England Mainline:
Recent shots used in the Unofficial Screenshot thread. The monthly Network Rail test train from Blackpool North to Derby RTC leave Blackpool North... ...and clags its way through Kirkham & Wesham station After the Grayrigg rail disaster in 2007, Pendolino 390033 was written off, leaving Virgin short of a train set for its WCML operations. Enter the "Pretendolino", a Class 90 propelled Mark 3 DVT set (WB64). It was pressed into service and refurbished into the same livery as the Pendolinos as a stop gap. Seen here waiting at Crewe.
Union Pacific's Western Pacific Heritage SD70ACe No.1983 as lead power on a manifest on UP's Salt Lake City extension (Soldier Summit).
An Edit of an unused screenshot from my last post of UP's SD70ACe Heritage unit on Soldier Summit - Salt Lake City Extension.
BR146 do not normally haul freight but as they are in effect re-geared BR145 (with higher top speed and lower tractive effort) there is nothing to prevent them doing so.
The 145s were first, the 146s next in the late 90s. The 185s were this century after the 152s. All the 18x locos are multi ( At least dual) voltage. The others are single voltage.
