Installment 14 in a seemingly endless multipart chronological depiction of a mid-autumn morning stopping passenger service Heritage Railtour QD, from London to Peterborough, on ECML London - Peterborough route. Motive power is Caledonia Works' GER T69 4-6-0 tendered steam loco, seen in LNER B12 Lined Black Livery. It hauls what QD terms the 1936 Queen of Scotland Coach Set. As such, I selected Queen of Scots for the loco's headboard. We travel the "slow" track, allowing stops at all stations en route.

This short installment finds us between Welwyn North and Knebworth.

    Not far beyond Welwyn North:

Suprisingly, this well detailed route performs better than the cheap vegetation RSSLO routes, that tend to stutter.

^ Yes, Koblenz-Trier performs very well. I suppose it's a good balance with plenty but really low fidelity assets.
Not great if you want bush close-ups or happen to be such a perfectionist, however fantastic if you want the broad views.

My weekly roll became bit of an EMD showcase.

Good idea, Andras. Revisiting Castle Rock, doing some work on the GP9. That old RSC GP9 pack is still one of my favourites. They just look good (much better than DTM's bland MSTS style locos).

Installment 1 in a three-installment series chronologically documenting a stopping passenger heritage run from Sittingbourne to Sheerness-on-Sea. The route is Chatham Main Line - London Victoria to Dover + Ramsgate. Motive power is supplied by a Victory Works A1X Terrier, seen in the appropriate SECR Green, acquired from Steam Sounds Supreme, not Dovetail/Steam. To it is added Golden Age Developments' "VW Terrier Enhancement Pack", which "corrects colors (both locos and coach stock), adds specular highlights and improves texture look". Coaches, if memory serves, are freeware from Wayside Works.

Sittingbourne Station, pre-departure. I alas forgot to annotate time-of-day:

    Within Sittingbourne:

We branch off the mainline for the remainder of our relatively brief journey to Sheerness:

I suspect we are still within Sittingbourne:

    Approaching Kemsley Halt:
Halted at Kemsley. This is an odd-man-out image in that it comes from an earlier, aborted attempt at this run, which used different coaches. I liked none of the captures from that first run except this one, which is easily better than the several Kemsley images captured during the "official" run, ergo its inclusion:

Installment 13 in a multipart series chronologically documenting a mid-Autumn morning stopping passenger service Heritage Rail Tour QuickDrive, from Crewe to Holyhead, on North Wales Coast Line, acquired during Steam's Winter 2023/24 sale. Having belonged to LNWR in pre-grouping days, I power the train with a favorite steam-era loco, Caledonia Works' LNWR "Greater Britain", No.3435 "Queen Empress" to be exact, seen in Lilac & Cream livery. Though Greater Britain looks to be a conventional 2-4-2 tendered locomotive it is, in actuality, a 2-2-2-2 compound loco. It pulls four LNWR coaches, the last of them an observation coach, which I fail to adequately capture.

This installment sees us en route from Abergele & Pensarn to Colwyn Bay, which we arrive at next installment.

Abergele & Pensarn, little more than spitting distance from where the final image in installment 12 was captured:

One long-running capture series having recently ended, another takes its place on my rotation roster. As usual, it's a "Heritiage" stopping passenger service QuickDrive. The route is Dovetail's South Western Main Line: Southampton - Bournemouth, on which we travel from . . . drum roll . . . Southhampton to Bournemouth, stopping at all stations/halts en route. Motive power is provided by Caledonia Works' LSWR 700 class 0-6-0 tendered steam locomotive. It pulls a short rake of LSWR coaches which, if memory serves, are from GAD's LSWR 6-wheel Carriage Pack 1, sold through CW (but don't quote me).

Early morning interlude at Lostwithiel. It's May 2005 and 1M91 0624 Penzance-Crewe is making its booked stop, at around 0735hrs. Nominally operated by the recently formed Wales & Borders franchise, the stock consists of a Wales & West 'Ginsters' liveried 158 and a recently acquired 150/2 from Scotrail. (This eye-catching combination is documented in photographs from the period.)

    20241017191716_1.jpg

    20241017191753_1.jpg

From what I can tell, the 150 was added as a Bank Holiday strengthening unit between Penzance and Bristol Temple Meads, to supplement the 158 which worked through to Crewe, and the further 158 which this service attached to at Plymouth. I wonder whether anyone travelled right through to Crewe! Needless to say, it makes for a good series of TSC scenarios.

Route: JT Cornish Main Line (standalone)
Traction: Armstrong Powerhouse 158 (Ginsters reskin addon) & Armstrong Powerhouse Class 150/2

I have a Ginsters livery from DPSimulation, this applies to the old S9BL Class 158 though. Where did you get the AP reskin?

Had to recreate that one ;)

It’s from the Major Wales Design website - there are other liveries too. A fair few bits worth acquiring from their catalogue.
    https://www.major.wales/reskins/modern/WB

Funny story - when I was younger I was convinced that Ginsters unit was following me around, I was seeing it everywhere. Only recently did I realise that Canton depot had 5 of them :D

Golden Age Developments has been creating "color patches" for older Caledonia Works products, most recently (as of posting date) for three southern region locos. Here are two such locos, the LBSCR E4 and LBSCR D1, seen on Portsmouth Line Direct, captured between London Victoria Station and Vauxhall during brief look-see drives.

Combined installments 12 & 13 in a multipart chronological depiction of an Autumn morning stopping passenger QuickDrive on Golden Age Developments' freeware West of England Mainline, phase 2, which extends tracks further eastward to Yeovil Town. Our journey begins there, stopping at all stations until the drive terminates at Exeter. Our train is powered by Caledonia Works' rendering of the LSWR 415/0415 class 4-4-2T steam locomotive, commonly known as the Adams Radial Tank. It is seen in Adams Brown livery, pulling six LSWR coaches. The loco proves insufficient for the task, though we finish the run by means I'll divulge at the appropriate time.

These combined installments see us traveling through a rural landscape toward and arriving at Honiton. They also see us "over the hump", now being more than halfway through the series:

Honiton Station. Here we witness the snafu mentioned in this installment's opening commentary. Until now, our locomotive has been No.430. From the beginning, I relied on Otto to keep the loco adequately filled with coal and water. Somewhere between Seaton Junction and Honiton, I made what I assumed would be a token fuel check. To my horror I saw that, while adequate water remained, coal was dangerously low. I disabled auto-fireman and got us to Honiton, hoping to find coaling facilities there. Alas, the session terminated almost immediately after leaving the cab for a look-see. There was nothing for it but to create a new QuickDrive at Honiton; same train, same destination. However, our loco is now No.418, which sees us to terminus.

Installment 6 in a chronological pictorial depiction of a stopping passenger service heritage rail-tour QuickDrive on AP's Wherry Lines - Norwich to Greater Yarmouth & Lowestoft, a somewhat recent purchase when these images were captured. To it is added AP's route enhancement pack. This is the most consistently visually appealing route in my possession. So pleasing that I drove and captured images of four passenger runs in rapid succession. This series showcases the first of those runs, from Norwich to Lowestoft.

Motive power is Caledonia Works' "Single-Wheeler" GER P43 4-2-2 tendered steam loco, another recent acquisition when this run was driven, seen in its super-heated coal-burning variant. The train is, admittedly, not ideally suited for stopping passenger duty; the P43 primarily an express locomotive, the train overlong for the route's often small station/halt platforms. (Coach count is reduced for the remaining three runs.)

This installment sees us departing Buckenham, en route to Cantley.

If this were a real life photo, having the windshields reflect the fireworks would be actually awesome.
(I could do that with Photoshop, you say?)

Not the best pic art wise, but I like this location conceptually. On the outskirts of New York (towards New Haven).
This abandoned overhanging building is quite Halloween-like, while the bridge above... may have been for trains.
