This Month's Case Studies: (TG08) Ex-GWR Southern (387) + (TG08) OBB on TRAXX (BR 1116/BR 185) We chat to the OP of this thread, TrainGeek08, to firstly talk about the livery (below) '(TG08) Ex-GWR Southern (387)', that will release next week. Do you think that the Southern logo complements the GWR green well? TrainGeek08: "To be honest, it does look a bit out of place on an ex-GWR unit. It's like it shouldn't be there at all." You have implemented a new colour technique into your liveries, can you elaborate on that? TG08: "Oh yes! I have started to use Rob Wood's colour cards (available on Train Sim Community) to make sure my colour palette for liveries is as accurate as possible to the real train (where applicable). They are extremely helpful indeed when it comes to making real-world liveries like this one." It doesn't look very difficult, could you have chosen a harder livery to do? TG08: "Here we go again... the easy vs hard debate again. However, I do have a valid explanation this time. When I was making this livery, I was in the final stages of making 390119 Revamped (more news on this in the coming days) so my resources were spent maximising detail and effort into that. So, in some respects, this livery suffered with that. But, the lot of liveries coming in July should be more polished and detailed!" Do you think that this will do well on CC? TG08: "Um... there is a possibility that it does. However, I am not getting my hopes up just yet. Next Wednesday will tell you everything you need to know..." How long did this livery take you to make? TG08: "This livery took me 30 minutes to make, because it is on the simpler side of things. As I said before, I had other projects on at the time of creation, so I think an easier livery balanced my workload out a little." As a livery creator, what do you make of the GBR livery fiasco that has occurred in the last month on CC? TG08: "Wow! An outsider question. That's a bit different... Anyway, I understand DTG (and the DfT)'s reasoning for the take downs of any GBR work due to licensing constraints, but at the end of the day, that's hours of work being wasted on liveries being removed on CC. I'm extremely lucky that I DO NOT plan to make GBR liveries so it doesn't affect me in that sense of the word." We then ask TrainGeek08 to discuss the scenario (below) '(TG08) OBB on TRAXX (BR 1116/BR 185)', that released this week. We are back on Vorarlberg, does this mean another banger from you sir? TrainGeek08: "Sir? Well I thank you for the compliment! I definitely hope so, for both mines and your benefit." How difficult have you made this scenario? TG08: "Well... considering you get held up behind an S 1 service between Feldkirch and Bludenz, I'd say the amount of PZB intervention on that portion of the journey answers that question for you." Did you encounter any challenges whilst making this scenario? TG08: "I always do when it comes to Vorarlberg. You know why? Because DTG were silly and decided to only enable one platform at Feldkirch to be selectable for both directions of travel. It does pose some severe challenges, especially if you use the IRL timetable to create the scenario..." How long does the scenario play for? TG08: "This scenario plays for around an hour or so, mostly helped by the amount of PZB action between Feldkirch and Bludenz as mentioned earlier. A different challenge on Vorarlberg instead of driving passenger services all the time that's for sure." Any more Vorarlberg scenarios planned for 2026? TG08: "It's the common saying again. You should know this by now..." Are you happy with the reception it has received on CC thus far? TG08: "Overall, yeah. It has 15 subscribers currently, so I will take it. I do hope it gets more popular though, because it is on one of my 'fanbases' ' favourite routes (that being S-Bahn Vorarlberg)!" Thanks to TrainGeek08 for taking the time to answer those burning questions for us . Conclusion: Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this one, put your thoughts below as ever . From me, TrainGeek08, I'll see you soon for another CC release announcement, enjoy the rest of your day and goodbye . Release date changes: N/A
