This Month's Case Studies: (TG08) NS (BR 193) + (TG08) 1M01 STG-EUS (222) We chat to the OP of this thread, TrainGeek08, to firstly talk about the livery (below) '(TG08) NS (BR 193)', that released earlier this week! What was the inspiration behind creating the NS BR 193 livery? TrainGeek08: "TSW's first Dutch route of course! Spoorlijn Zwolle-Groningen coming out spurred me to do this livery so you can use another NS loco on the route (even though it is a CC reskin) but still." How did you approach getting the NS colours and branding accurate? TG08: "I cannot hype up Mr. Rob Woods enough these days! I've said it a lot, but I'll say it again! Get over to Train Sim Community, search 'colour cards' and download them. They are a fantastic resource to use, not only on UK liveries, but on some European liveries (like NS) as well!" What small details are you particularly proud of? TG08: "The technical details. It is very rare that I get clear reference photos of every single bit of technical information displayed on the undersides of European locomotives, so when I do, I feel really proud!" How important is reference material when creating a realistic livery? TG08: "Very important. I've often talked about how I'm able to put in technical information if I have clearer reference material. For instance, this livery had very clear reference material, so I could focus on the fine details involved in making the technical information for you all." What makes a good custom livery stand out on Creators Club? TG08: "Good question. I'd say one that stands out is a livery where you can see that the creator has put all of their time and soul into that livery, and one way to know that is by how detailed they are. If it is more detailed, it is more likely that the creator has took their time to make the livery look good." What would you change or improve if you revisited the livery? TG08: "Nothing at all. This livery is the best it can be. The only thing I'd improve is maybe some weathering, but this loco doesn't need it. Just look at the thing!" We then ask TrainGeek08 to discuss the scenario (below) '(TG08) 1M01 STG-EUS (222)', that will release in a few weeks. What is the concept behind the 1M01 STG–EUS scenario? TrainGeek08: "I wanted to recreate Lumo (West Coast)'s inaugural service from Stirling to London Euston. Unfortunately, I did get beaten to it by our old friend Josh (of JPlayz fame), but I announced my scenario before he released his..." How did you decide on the timetable and stopping pattern? TG08: "Very simple. I used Realtime Trains to make this scenario. Although, I also used Railrecord to make this one, but only to check formations. Hence why there are '730s' in the scenario, which is a first for any of my WCML South scenarios." How do you make a scenario feel like a realistic railway service rather than just a journey from A to B? TG08: "It's very simple. I use the real-life timetable to make my scenarios (most of the time), so it's as easy as going on RTT, searching up say 'Milton Keynes Central' and off you go. All the way down to London Euston!" Are there any particular moments in the scenario that you designed specifically to test the player? TG08: "Not intentionally. However, there is an occurrence where you get adverse signals because a stopping train crosses Ledburn Junction (north of Cheddington) from the fasts to the slows, hence holding up the train ahead of you (a Birmingham-London bound Evero), meaning you are under adverse signalling all of the way to Euston (pretty much)." Did you encounter any unexpected signalling, pathing or AI issues? TG08: "Yes. I have found a situation where trains are being jammed between London Euston and Camden Junction, making the scenario incompletable at this moment in time (at time of posting). I will test this pathing situation this upcoming weekend (at time of posting) to try and solve said situation in time for release." Have any parts of the scenario changed significantly during testing? TG08: "Not at the moment (at the time of posting). As I said in the previous answer, I will do some testing to try and solve the jamming issue around Euston, and hopefully having a completable scenario for you all." Thanks to TrainGeek08 for taking the time to answer those burning questions for us . Conclusion: Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this one, put your thoughts below as ever . From me, TrainGeek08, I'll see you soon for another CC release announcement, enjoy the rest of your day and goodbye . Release date changes: N/A
