4MTTs have always been a favorite loco of mine (If not my favorite), and I am so glad to see that it has been accurately captured in its awesomeness by Meshtools. Cant wait to get my hands on it!!!
Why has the Weardale and Teesdale route been chosen as the setting for the included scenarios? The W&T is awesome of course and you'd get foreign loco's coming across the Stainmore line from time to time but isn't there a suitable Midland route where it would be more at home?
The only suitable steam era routes I can think of would either be the Western lines of Scotland or the SD&JR. However the original 4MTT that came out had scenarios for the SD&JR and Woodhead line.
3 Stanier 4MTTs were allocated to Darlington 42477 arrived 25/11/1961, departed 26/06/1965 42553 arrived 25/11/1961, withdrawn 12/11/1962 42639 arrived 25/11/1961, departed 23/04/1966 there's quite a nice photo here of a Stanier and Fairburn tank right next to Darlington station http://www.davidheyscollection.com/userimages/roy-lambeth-42477-42085-1965.jpg There were also 4 other Fairburn tanks allocated to Darlingotn: 42085, 42161, 42194 and 42213 around the same time period. Darlington was also home to around 11 Ivatt 2mt's and 20 Ivatt 4mt's. So yes, strangely Darlington was quite a Midlandised shed really.
Good find- shows what I know. No doubt cross-country services made this desirable if not necessary and looking further I gather that Midland classes were often serviced and repaired at Darlo' especially after Derby closed to steam. Many were cut up there.
