Class 158 on the Fife Circle route. This is at North Queensferry, next to the famous Fourth Bridge, hence the mural on the station building.

Well done. I had a feeling that would be a winner.

Congrats to the winner, great shot!

Is there a leaderboard for winners?

Ironbladder seems to have the knack with others of knowing a winning shot when they see it!

I did go back and did some stats on that back in August, but I haven't updated it in recent months.

In 2020 Iron-bladder won 7 times and has already won two in 2021
I do not question any of the contenders offerings but sometimes wonder if the persons choosing the winner have a photographers eye?

To me this is a nice shot of a signal post.
Had the shot been taken closer it would have cropped out the waggons on the left and lost the post.
I admit photos / screenshots are very subjective but sometimes some amazing shots have given way to not so good shots by the regular contenders and are on display for weeks.

I think so too. As a former photographer, I am well aware of composition techniques, leading lines, "rule of thirds", foreground, background interest, focal points, etc, and this is a great shot. It's a real shame it's been replaced!

    Guys thanks for your congratulations.
You might be interested to know that I deliberately composed the picture to include the wagons and to put the signal in a strong visual position. It's not an accident it looks the way it does.

To me a great screenshot should be both visually pleasing and evoke some feeling of time, place and even emotion. It's often necessary to include background and foreground to achieve this. I think sometimes for us enthusiasts it's easy to get fixated on the loco and not to see them in their setting. Sometimes you've got to back off and not make the loco centre stage. I like to think that my screenshots of the Western Lines of Scotland and the Fife Circle do this and give something of a sensation of hustle and bustle or what it feels like to be standing at a station.
I think the person choosing the winners is probably also interested in showcasing DTG's products and increasing sales! For that reason I always try to submit scenes that show the game's modelling at its best. And that is a beautifully modelled signal!

Anyway, let's crack on and have fun producing next week's entries.

When you look at photo books of trains, all too often it's a train crossing from left background to right foreground, or vice versa, so it's really great to see images that stand out from that. Your signal post is on a classic "third" which splits the shot nicely.

I have no issues with any of the winners that I have seen (other than they are not mine). Let's not be sour grapes and nit-pick at those who have won.

The fact Iron Bladder keeps winning is testament to his photographic skills. If anything I'd like to learn from him/her and be able to create similar shots myself.

Fully agree with you, I have often congratulated and liked your offerings.
I did not mean anything personal, more of a how subjective photography can be thing.
I personally didn't go with the signal post idea but that is just my opinion, the Marmite syndrome.
As you say let's crack on to next week.

IronBladder félicitations (and congratulations). Et comme nous disons en français : "Les chiens aboient et la caravane passe... (sorry I don't know the equivalent expression in English )

"The dogs bark and the caravan passes" We don't have that exact expression in English, but I know what you mean.
