Been following Matt's very old tutorial for creating a scenario using the editor and two of the files in my Scenario folder have disappeared from the content even though they are clearly there in the file structure viewed outside the editor.
The Scenario Definition file shows up ok but the Scenario Manager Blueprint and Timetable files which are all in the same folder are simply not visible in the content window.

There seem to be no filters in operation so it's very odd.

So what you can do is the following to fix temporarily for now -

Create a matching asset type in the same location as the vanished one with the exact same name.
When it prompts if you want to overwrite, say no.
The vanished asset should then come back, also in the state you last saved it.

KTL_Rob Powell This might help with your stream later on if you're still planning on doing it and find stuff disappears. Quick temp fix.

thanks greggryan2 that brings my missing two files back for a session but the next time I close down the editor (or it crashes), when I restart it they both become invisible again.

An additional Scenario Definition file I've added to the folder as a test is being loaded back into the content ok, but it doesn't seem to like the Manager Blueprint and Timetable files.
All of the files in the folder have the same file extension of .uasset :(

I don't know how I've sorted mine but my Timetable no longer vanishes when doing that trick.

Try to only load the timetable when your full into a route map, maybe that will help.

Not sure without seeing settings etc, prob be something simple that's not set which is causing it.

I am at the same point. Try again tomorrow. I agree it must be caused by a simple setting in the Formation object somehow.

I had this problem so deleted and replaced the track then used File > Save All and that seemed to sort it for me.

Little side question: when you pose some gantries manually, how you can connect the wire? And there's a specific one that need to be used for?

I created a route definition, a train formation and then a route timetable.

I just discovered. You need to right click at the TimetableRoute. This brings up a menu. In this menu you need to select the scenario as the scenario to play in the editor. If you do so, you will see your train at the routemap, otherwise it is invisible.

EDIT: important addition: you also need to do the same for the ScenarioDefinition. It looks like in the editor window where you change these objects, there is a menu item that will do the trick for.

msb.png After all i see now, I think he just do not Load the Timetable, The MSB Map is Linked. Do someone now, how to load a second Timetable, like the Reduced or complete Timetable there are on the Simulator?

On the topic of scenario creation, this whole thing is still very much relevant.

He himself was interested in this in principle - yes. But for this, I don’t know for sure, you may need the same blender or something similar.

Just thought of a question. Given that it's in DTG's best interest to make using the editor as efficient as possible for the staff, I assume that it's also being updated over time with fixes and improvements. Will the user-downloadable version on Epic also be receiving these updates?

This morning, I opened the original Köln-Aachen map and it worked. But now, the tiles won't load. Is there some important step to do for that to occur? When I start PIE, it actually loads the map but that way I can't control the location of the player start.

Another question: I get information that navmesh should be rebuilt. But when I try rebuilding, the editor crashes. Apparently there are some hardcoded paths to source cpp files which we don't have.

On a far simpler query than route building or anything…is it possible to create Logo Paks with the editor like you used to be able to with the unofficial? I got as far as converting the png to a dtg vector image in a new content plugin but then got totally lost couldn’t find a way to get to cooking or packing it or anything.

Updated my text. You also need to do this for the ScenarioDefinition file, I think.

Please, somebody with working google overlay and terrain, taken from HGT file, can write here if the two line up correctly?
In my case I have a 20m discrepancy and I think is an error in the HGT I'm using...

I am trying to drive 16 car ICE3M into Cologne Hbf. That works. But an uncouple task does not work as apparently the rail vehicle does not have a OnUncouple event bound. How do I have to setup the uncouple instruction for it to work?

Funnily enough, used to get this and sometimes still do in Transdem working with hgt SRTM and mapping overlays. You quite often end up with rivers up the side of a hill or other discrepancies. Personally I think it is the DEM that is skewed and Transdem actually has a utility that allows you to shift the DEM slightly in the appropriate direction to try and compensate. Not sure if this TSW editor allows that.

How can I reverse the direction of a formation coming out of a portal? So if first class is front when entering, second class should be front when exiting.

On the exit-from-portal instruction, there's a "spawn in reverse" checkbox.

    Thank you.

Do you have an idea why the ICE 3 or ICE 3m won't uncouple?

Can't confirm as I don't have a maps API key but if you want satellite overlays that align perfectly with the terrain I recommend going to your country's LIDAR website, there is a chance that they also provide "otho photos", satellite images that align perfectly with their LIDAR data. I use this too, my ortho photos are each 1x1km, so I have to place a plane static mesh in the center of a landscape tile (use the transform section to round the coordinates), scale it by 1000 and assign the ortho photo as texture for a simple setup.

Don't make it static, but put a formation at the tracks. There is no need to make it move.

Still a valid point though if you want to align buildings, structures etc to the track both alignment and in the case of bridges gradient too.

Top of the 3D view screen is a magnet:

    upload_2023-10-3_11-12-6.png

Tick the box, set the number to the snap distance - at its maximum 1000 it'll pretty much hunt down the nearest track and snap to it.

This is just snapped as a 3D Mesh:

    That was the issue.
I have imported the original lidar data, instead of the HGT, and now the terrain coincide with google maps.
The "fan part" is that the HGT is based on the same data :).

Thank you for the suggestion but with the "new" terrain I have solved the issue.

I heard track in TSW is created using components created in 3D modelling software like Blender and loft descriptor file is created to generate the track. What components are required for creating custom track in the TSW4 editor? How do I create a loft descriptor file for custom track?

Todays lesson is probably going to be further experimentation making junctions, trying to remember how to install point motors or levers. Then maybe start putting track on a gradient and seeing if I can work out how to conform the terrain under the raised track. Finally the one thing I don’t think anyone has looked at yet - tunnels. If you’re doing a model based route, kind of hard to avoid them. I’m assuming the process similar to TSC where generally you laid the track then placed a separate spline over for the tunnel internal structure. Then there’s how to pierce a hole in the terrain at the portal.

We may need to call on DTG professionals to guide us on the tunnels situation.

Hi, little question: How I can set up a node to edit superelevation and track height more near the switch? I'll try to set up my most missing thing in TSC, the switch with superelevation, but it's hard to editate if I haven't a node near the core....
For this is first try i'll show you the result:

Today did not go very well and I fear we need some enlightenment from DTG on the following before going much further:

Placing junctions. Current system is very crude with no automatic lever/switch placement. The methodoligy is not at all cleared, the demonstration video had Matt doing something with the black triangle then snapping a perfectly aligned point motor into position. But nothing I tried achieved anything like that.

Terrain management other than the DEM and LiDAR import has not been covered at all. Needless to say I got absolutely nowhere with trying to bring up an embankment under track I had successfully elevated with a gradient. It's not even obvious how you do this. Trying to use the general terrain sculpting tools also went nowhere, apart from causing the editor to crash.

Didn't even get a chnace to think or look at what needs to be done to create a successful tunnel.

It's a very cold and dark start this one but I've reached some goal today: superelevated track and switches, 3D import, terrain's editing and gantry placed.
    All with default objects...
For now, with terrain, I've got a lot of problems with texture because I receive a black terrain when try to apply texture in it.
With track I've the problem says above

Haven't tried this in the public editor, but you have to drag a junction blueprint into the level, then click into that junction's properties. There should be an area to choose which junction it's snapped to. Then configure the rest of the properties such as automatic versus manual, etc.
