Tsw 4 Is Not What We Think - In-app Store, New Skybox, Ads, Multiplayer, Rewrite

It is when it's presented effectively as clickbait, when the full context of the tags isn't present and can't be used to reasonably speculate.

In TS' directory there's a file called action.replay, but that doesn't mean there's going to be cheat device compatibility in it. Obviously it's a hyperbolic example, but the thread's title and OP were written in a way that suggested that splitscreen and online multiplayer would come alongside individually bought skyboxes, and that the hypothetical TSW4 (hopefully it stays that way) would have microtransactions in it when the only evidence were vaguely named tags, of which some have already have been debunked. You probably should have waited before posting the thread and tried to find more conclusive evidence.

Many of the assumptions of your OP is that every tag is absolutely something DTG are planning on adding to the game. Again I'd like to refer to what I said earlier. I fully expect TSW to be running on spaghetti code, and its bloated size and poor performance is almost certainly in part due to useless code. TS recently had an update that removed much of this unused code and significantly improved the stability of the game. Anyway, most of the 'evidence' can be explained away by past experimentation. For example, we know that multiplayer was prototyped and was semi-functioning, and as UE supports multiplayer natively both of these are good explanations for the tag being there, rather than assuming DTG are bringing back multiplayer. Similarly the tags relating to splitscreen multiplayer could just be UE default tags, or may have been a cut game mode - DTG have confirmed that many ideas were cut, and splitscreen could have been one of them. If it was, I'd assume it was prototyped at the same time as online multiplayer. I'm not sure which tag refers to advertising on the pause menu, assuming it's in the OP, but again it's safer to assume that this was a possibility when Bidstack was first being implemented, not a future plan.

If you could find dates for the creation of these tags directly or by comparing different builds of TSW, then we could identify things DTG may be more likely to be working on. However, quite frankly a number of those tags could be as old as TSW itself and only used in a build that might only live on DTG's NAS. We can't tell.

 

I personally wouldn't read too much into it. There are too many assumptions being made and rumors and all that with nothing being said officially. Can't always be believing everything out there

I honestly think some people get more out of pointlessly speculating about this game than actually playing it. A sizeable chunk of this forum consists of posts filled entirely with drivel speculation and conjecture.

Whether it is CSX:HH, TSW2020, TSW2, TSW - Rush Hour, TSW3, TSW4, TSW25 - ‘Choo Choo’s and Unicorns’ the upshot is that there will likely be a rebranding of the game and a paid late Summer release with a bundle of routes. It might include new features, it might not. Some things will likely be improved, somethings will likely be left alone, somethings will likely be made worse.

This speculation has led to many people believing that TSW4 (i.e. a new game paywall like TSW3) is a stone cold fact when there is zero proof of that. Sure, something is coming as it does every year, just like it has since the first days of TSC. No wonder it’s so easy to spread fake news these days, people literally believe anything they’re told on the internet!

So what will be will be, and rabidly speculating about it based on the flimsiest of evidence is a total waste of time.

My only request of DTG is whatever it is you’re doing, please do it right.

Don't worry. TSW always had "micro transactions". In this game they just turnout not to be that "micro". It's just terminology.

It would be in the best interests of everyone if you simply presented any findings within the core without comment. Your method of posting clickbait titles and presenting opinions as fact is FUD, pure and simple. Agreed. And while I know DTG don't want to give anything away before the big reveal, nevertheless some tidying up of the wilder and more outrageous speculation would not go amiss. Otherwise it just fuels the conspiracy theorists and tin foil hatties.

 

It's only a few more weeks. I think it's really fun all these theories. Get used to it as it looks like this will be yearly repeated. It's almost like an iPhone launch event .... almost

Seperate. The namespace on EG DB is different to TSW3.

 

TSW2: Rush Hour was technically a new game in the eyes of the stores, except of course in reality it wasn’t. None of the TSW stable have been ‘new’ games except CSX:HH and, at a push TSW3. TSW3 was only a ‘new’ game in the sense that if you didn’t buy it you could no longer add to your collection. There was nothing in TSW3 that couldn’t have been in TSW2. It had a different title and you had to buy it to continue buying DLC, but under the hood the engine was identical.

If it what is coming was an entirely ‘new’ game then all your previous content would be left behind for good. There is literally no way on this Earth that that is going to happen so it will, as I said, be the usual annual update with a bundle of new routes however they brand it. DTG have been doing this annual rebrand for well over a decade, so going round and round in circles endlessly for the next two weeks trying to second guess what it might be is completely pointless.

HECK - if you go onto the steam files for TSW3 it still actually says TSW2 (or atleast it use to - it might of changed)

 

There is already enough evidence pointing towards the content you already own being present in what's about to be announced so suggesting that an "entirely ‘new’ game" would mean you would have to leave your previous content behind is already debunked. Although what you are saying makes perfect sense and is absolutely correct there is still some wild speculation going on as well.

 

No he is right - a core update can be locked behind a paywall but at the end of the day - its just a rebranded core update - it still uses your same things.

 

TSW3 did not use the same things. It made me download new files. The files waiting to be released also point in that direction. Remember the New Journeys pack from TSW2? Was not available in TSW3 for months. You see! Now you also started spreading wild speculations
