I wouldn't read too much into that. If they said "Train Sim World 4" it would spoil the surprise. If they said "Train Sim World 3", it would also spoil the surprise just in a different way.

 

So the info gathered is still the same? Everything pointing to 4 routes being released, no routes identified (except the country) and we will need to redownload all the DLC we have pointing at a new version of the game which may or may not called TSW4. We have announce, pre oder dates and release dates.

That's the info we have right now or were new "spoilers" discovered?

We know what is coming only not in what form. We know there is an update to the game that is so important that they had to move up the roadmap, announce it in a special stream and require us to download DLC again. The update is so important to DTG that there is a gag order for DTG employees. Everything pointing to something big coming.

Sure in DTG world something big is not as big as we all want it to be and I will be disappointed as nothing that I would want in the game will be present but something is coming

 

Im inclined to wait until dtg announces something then I’ll form an opinion based on that. All this speculation is a fun read but there is not enough information to make any conclusion

 

So there's a clue that the headline act will be an extension of an existing route.
I wonder what the inspiration for the new software's code name of "Smithfield" was?
Oh, FYI, Snow Hill Tunnel runs under Smithfield Market in London. Thameslink services run through it on their way from Cambridge to Brighton.

Mentioned about 8 pages ago. It was from the detective work of the "Train Sim Guy" on You Tube, though he thinks the route extension is the LIRR. The Smithfield bit was my idea. My wife works in Hatton Garden so we often have meals out around the Smithfield Market area and I'm old enough to have been there the day it reopened in 1988.

 

On one hand I hope it's LIRR but on the other hand I fear it's gonna be LIRR. LIRR means finally a US passenger base route but I already have LIRR and it's one of my least favourite routes. If it's done well it will be as a new route to me as I never touched the route again after my first play. DTG makes NY feel like a ghost town

 

Yeah, not usually a fan of US stuff but I love metro/suburban systems so was really excited about LIRR, unfortunately it is like a ghost town.

 

Fair enough, I had made the link with Smithfield when I first saw it too, but obviously missed the extension bit.

 

By that token It also could be the Norfolk Southern Norfolk to Petersburg line, which runs through Smithfield, Virginia. Which I doubt.

 

I remember thinking the route would have looked better with swarms of zombies to explain the scenery DTG had set for NY.

 

Maybe it was set in the future, Summer 2020.

 

I could see this happening. Align everything under a single "Train Sim World" name so that they can finally give up the so called promised TSW2 fixes and just focus on a single common platform. If it runs well, then that's all that matters. Let's just wait and see what is announced later in the month. At the very least TSW3 has taught me to hold off and test things for myself off gamepass before sinking any more money into the game. Saved myself quite a few bucks this past year.

Maybe Smithfield is just... a codename for the project? Same vein as Pentadecagon/DLCxxx for TSW3 and whatever the TSW2 one was (despite me being told it several times I forget it).

 

Let's wait and see and my guess is one of the Smithfields might be ECML South KGX to Peterbrough

Maybe a surprise preview stream or similar for one of the few remaining "TSW3" releases, like the BR420 or untitled german loco. I think to remember TSG wanted the BR420 out by september ?

If the big announcement really turns out to be TSW4, the BR420 will be the first DLC to be in the works across three games.

 

They announced something called dtg direct for the 22nd. I assume whatever it is that’s coming will be revealed then.

 

Because of rumour about new country in TSW (central europe) I hope, they picked something that is real to do well. For example, if it is Czechia, anything connected to Prague will be very bad, because you need minimum of 4+ new locomotives and many other new rolling stock, if you want to represent it "not that bad" and it is not real for TSW to add to many things in one addon, but more rural tracks, like Letohrad - Hradec Králové, or Železná Ruda - Klatovy (suggestion https://forums.dovetailgames.com/th...183-part-klatovy-Železná-ruda-alžbětín.65111/) can be done in "enough" quality with minimum new rolling stock. It is important to not try to do something big, if there are not resources to do it properly.
IDK how much content is possible to reuse from Germany, if the new country will be Austria (for example Brennero track from TSC is very beautiful one).

 

Austria would make some sense. The signalling system is similar to Germanys' and the Taurus wouldn't need much modification to make the OBB version. The Eurofima style coaches could also be re-purposed. Freight stock would also be re-usable. They should/ would the n concentrate on a new set of coaches (the long and short Schlieren, which would allow for variations used on Swiss routes), a new wagon (Eanos type please, DTG already has the similar design used on UK railways), and a new engine, 1142 perhaps?. The Vectron could also be given an OBB scheme.
An Austrian route would also allow for additional services to appear, or be driveable, on some German routes, as they frequently appear in Munich. I also recall seeing some OBB stock travelling along the Rhine, with either a 1216 at each end or a 1216 and a DB control coach. there was also an ICE-T that was leased to OBB.

 

What if each Smithfield is a section of the ECML??.

The best start would be some local branch line, then you would basically need the 810, 814 or similar, but you can get away with having only one piece of rolling stock.

 

ECML is 100% coming all easter eggs are there its so easy also its a fun fav on Train Sim Classic and way better if u got it with ATC

 

If ECML south is confirmed (Peterborough to the Cross is what, 75 miles?), surely that would at least include the TL platforms at St Pancras? Would seem a bit more natural than having to get out of a 700 at Finsbury Park, but then that adds the issue of modelling the walk between the two stations.

Either way, having the Cross in the game would be wonderful, the roars of a 91's fans would be the cherry on top!

ECML, is it London to Edinburgh? The full route package expansion will take four years to complete. OMG!

 

Class 91 only operates on the Ecml.

 

As said above the 91s only operate the ECML, it is the 90s which have run on the other two.

DTG only speaks of "Train Sim World" here and no longer of "Train Sim World 3". Perhaps the abolition of numbering awaits us now?! In my opinion, it's long overdue to consolidate all titles into one big franchise (Train Sim World) and offer core improvements "for free". Similar to what is done with "Train Simulator Classic", because you pay for the DLC, routes and locomotive anyway.



It remains exciting.

 

As has been said, if they say 4 they ruin the surprise and the same if they say 3. I think they are just holding their cards as close to their chests as possible in the lead up.

 

DTG Alex did you just give us a big hint? with "in only 8 days left"? are we getting 8 new routes? lol Just kidding, just having a little fun.

Today Smithfields depots Smithsfield General Audience, smithfields101prepurchase,smithfield102,Smithfields102prepurchase,smithfields103,and smithfields103prepurchase were updated 8-14

 

101 102 103 are the base routes and them with prepurchase are when you preordered them and you'll get something extra i guess, this has been discussed already though so yeah

 

and general audience might be TSW4 itself

 

Except 101. Smithsfield101preorder is only available for pre order. There is no smithsfields101 depot
