Not sure if it has changed since I lived out there. The locals that used to run the Ventura line were:
LOF67 on Monday and Thursday Northbound from GEMCO to Guadalupe.
LOF66 on Tuesday and Friday Southbound from Guadalupe to GEMCO.
LOF65 on Wednesday that was a round trip from GEMCO to Oxnard and back. Typically would go NB in the early afternoon and then return SB following on the heels of Coast Starlight #11.
Both LOF67 and LOF66 also stopped and switched cars in Oxnard during their trips.

There were some other even smaller locals that served local industry off the Ventura line as well. Not sure their designations. Not that this information matters because none of these trains get close to the Antelope Valley line. But just thought I'd let ya know since you said you weren't sure.

With that amount of services this route fits more for a US route that should had been introduced back in TSW2020.
No disrespect for those that find it appealing. But to be introduced now for TSW4. Is a head scratcher.

If Dovetail went and made scenery that was really, genuinely stunning, like some UE5 artists can make, then sure, rural routes would be amazing but right now, I suspect most people agree with you - busier gameplay is better because gazing out of a window over vast stretches of countryside doesn't often yield much from the current game.

True, I made a joke about the real life scenery being already bland looking at the first pictures shown of the Antelope route. I imagine the scenery on all the US freight routes to be stunning in real life but this is never reflected very well in TSW. If you have stunning graphics those routes would be way more interesting.

Maybe they will surprise us, and it includes the Ventura line as well since they share track to Burbank?

Perhaps an increased quality of scenery is one of the new 'features' of TSW4 - they made a very solid start on this with Peak Forest in my view.

If that's the case, and assuming the Flying Scotsman is the real deal, then perhaps it won't be ECML-S after all, and instead will be either a northern section of ECML or somewhere else such as the Settle - Carlisle line, which is very well associated with railtours...

Yea that would add another 20 passenger services….
I would hope would be obviously included.
I’m just glad I have the NYT new timetable still on the pipeline to look foward too.

Usually a new license means making a route for it right away. Happened with northern, emt, wmt to name a few. Honestly I don't mind having a quiet route. Diesel is long overdue for tsw

Can someone enlighten me why Settle-Carlisle is so popular? It's a very boring section with hardly any decent stations with junctions. It was my least favourite classic TSC route, ever. In real life, it looks great, but in TSW, it would bore many to death.

I don't see the entire line being added, as that would be a 76 mile route combined with a 60ish mile route. And a 130 mile route with all those stations seem improbable.

Even cutting the line back to Moorpark where most of the Metrolink trains on the Ventura line originate and terminate from, is still 47 miles.

In the past there were yards, industries, and pickup goods but today it's all about the scenery. As you say the modern S&C is a pretty A-B run with not much else to do!

ECML north or ECML york-newcastle maybe... [hopefully]
would probably also be better than ecml south with the possible addition of TPE

We do need kings X in the game because it can't be called the ECML without Kings X.

But kings X is the staple of the ECML King X is the part what connects York Newcastle etc, it will be disappointing if we don't get kings X but even York or Newcastle will be good enough.

Kings Cross is as much a part of the ECML as Edinburgh or Glasgow, no more and no less. Its one end of it. I am almost positive we won't get the much hoped for ECML South now.

After seeing the secrecy around the event in general and the complete lack of teasers it strikes me that they are trying to manage expectations down and are even potentially anticipating disappointment when people see the main headlines of TSW4. This is the kind of PR I would do in such a situation e.g. trying to get the ambassadors onside and on-message in advance. If they were super confident everyone will love it at first sight then I think they might have done things differently. Like last year for example when they knew people would like dynamic weather.

You might be correct on that one from what I can see ECML South can have a Fen Line Branch to it. Remember on train simulator classic they actually made Fen Line as a part of the East Coast Main Line.
Here's a 365 run Ely to King's Lynn Fen Line

I hate how much sense Settle and Carlisle makes. The 158 is already in the game, and they have the Northern licence. Not only that, but Flying Scotsman already has some association with the line, not only from railtours, but with the original Microsoft Train Simulator.

I'm sure many members of the forum remember it. It makes sense that DTG would pay homage to it. If it turns up in Apple Green instead of the Brunswick green the engine is currently wearing then we know where they got their inspiration.

I'd happily take an Edinburgh to Newcastle route if they want something more scenic while satisfying people like me who want a busy, fast mainline.

If it was to be the ECML, then going back a couple of years would allow an adapted HST to be thrown in. And who wouldn’t want that

Yup that's what i'm seeing as well.

Unless they've managed to keep the showstopper completely under wraps. ECML done full justice (decent length, more than 1 new train, properly busy) would probably balance out the more sleepy NA and European offerings.

I'm skeptical though- my suspicion is that Flying Scotsman will either come to an existing route (maybe expanded/upgraded) or it will be a much less ambitious route than ECML.

an EWS or DBS 37 wouldn’t be a stretch either. And a northern 158 could layer into Piccadilly and Nottingham.

Always think about the layers! Timetable is King!

Curious that it's called the East Coast Mainline when only about one fourth of it comes near the water.

That's a good reason to model the part north of Newcastle rather than the rather straight and flat southern sections.

    Got to be ECML South because;
    1. The original Eastern Region is a big black TSW hole at the moment. North of the Humber we already have the Teeside route and the eastern half of Manchester to Leeds.
    2. There's just so much stock in TSW already that could be used on this section.
    3. There's isn't a traditional high speed AC OHL line in TSW (HS1 is at the gaming end of simming because it's too sterile and simple)
    4. The home of football, The Emirates Stadium, deserves to be the first big Premier League stadium in TSW.
    5. It would be very popular. More so possibly than BML if the amount of new TSC scenarios in both routes is anything to go by.

And isn't it true that the North East and Scotland are much more interesting than the South East of England? I remember being lulled into a coma by the Peterborough to York and York to Newcastle portions in TSC.

The Deltic is a fun drive though.

At the end is comes down to time, return on investment. How long would it take to make the route. How many stations. How long would it take to make the time table. A big lesson learned with BML, NYT routes. Six months later and we still don’t have a the finished NTY route

Yes, we thought that would be the case with Yankee Stadium in Harlem, but DTG's dev teams are not big sports fans apparently.

*laughs in brighton fan, amex, and europa league*

Jokes aside - Argueably the Amex is becoming a big name. Especially with brightons sucess. Also what routes goes past the Emirates making is Visable. Argueably the next big PL stadium is likely to be Old Trafford on a Liverpool-Manchester Route.

it would sell well, and the 700 and 387 is already made, only really need to make an 800, i dont even think it has as many stations as brighton mainline

Not to hype anyone up here, but I still think the ECML south is really likely going to come as a core route in TSW4 for a few reasons:

    1. The 700. They have the /0, all they gotta do it model the /1, and boom, you’ve got a route where the 700 can really stretch its legs, and utilise the lovely AC physics and sounds. Additionally, DTG are clever with their timings. They did it with the Acela, originally it was a route for just Boston, then came NYT, another route for the Acela to stretch its legs. It just makes sense to have a route where the 700 can use AC mode, and go at really high speeds.

    2. Existing stock. We have the 387 already, and the 700 too (mostly). I think the 387 would be incredibly easy to paint with the GN livery, considering how plain and simple it is. Also, as I mentioned previously, I really can’t imagine it would be too hard to create a 700/1. Then the new train for this route would be the 800, and you’ve already got the 3 main trains that make this route busy, 2 existing, 1 new.

    3. Future DLC. This is a main one. DTG wouldn’t be DTG without thinking of their future DLC possibilities, and the ECML has so many. First, you’ve got the Class 717, which makes completely sense as a loco add-on to fill the line with frequent metro services, then you’ve got the Class 91 (which is unlikely, but still a possible loco add-on). Then, you’ve got those loco packs that DTG love to release very frequently, those ones with the new liveries and minor timetable additions etc. I see one where there is a red 387 livery (those do exist irl) or maybe some special liveries for the 800, idk, but I see a lot of things they could do there too.

I just think an ECML south route makes sense for this years summer release, the only thing that does worry me is how different this route is to the leaked Austrian and US routes, but that doesn’t have to mean anything.

The Red 387 is already out, it’s the Gatwick Express. If they wanted to do a DLC reskin the best bet would be an LNER train

    Thats... not a reskin?

There are currently no trains they can reskin into LNER.

HST likely wouldn't be era correct. The 387 into Great Northern livery is the best bet - esepciaslly given we already have its liscence. we'd need a 700/1 variant but that shouldn't be overly hard and then the new train as an 801 and HOPEFULLY a 91 if we're lucky.

I mean a reskin from LNER. So if they introuced a 225 they could do their original livery later on. An HST or Azuma could be repainted but the interior left (as is the case with other loco packs)

There are a lot of routes that exist in real life. TSW moving through iterations does not mean everything getting bigger and bigger, longer and longer, more and more services, that’s not how it works. If it did we would have had Isle of Wight as the very first route due to its length and needed to wait until TSW6 for BML’s number of services.

There is an advancement that can be seen from the early days of TSW. There is so much more to it now than it had back then. I remember the day head sway first came. It had seemed like it was an age coming. Now it feels like it’s always been there and is taken for granted. Routes and trains now have PIS systems on them. There is dynamic weather and volumetric clouds. Signalling has improved. There is a livery tool and a scenario tool and shareable content for both. There are steam trains now. And yes, routes have got longer, have more services and more variety. It’s not that everything is present across the board, nor is everything completely satisfying or even fully fit for purpose, but all these things have come in at points along the journey. There will be more to come but not necessarily just longer and longer and busier and busier but hopefully more immersive and in better working shape.

Edinburgh to Newcastle or Berwick-Upon, with the Scotrail route to North Berwick would be ace!
Would keep me interested with the stopping services. The long distance no stop (or only one stop) services are dull as heck.

Damn, I forgot the Amex. Yes, they're a very good side and an impressively-run club. Yes, Old Trafford (formerly known as "The Theatre of Dreams" back in the good days) would be a good shout. London Overground's North East London network could include T*****ham's ground, if it's the GEML then West Ham win the race with not only their stadium but their Chadwell Heath training ground.

Edit: Bravo2six - Yes it was, I was there today hence it was top of my mind. But given the proximity of Arsenal's stadium to the line, it would look very odd without it. Likewise the London Stadium next to the GEML.
