Why can’t it be a free update considering the starter pack anyway.

    - Bug fixes

    - Route update parity (all DLC should have ToD4 as a bare minimum).

    - Tell the shareholders and investors to stop chasing profits, so DTG aren't pressured into rushing-out broken, unfinished DLC.

    - Make YouTube live streams feel more welcoming and informative, instead of being the "QVC shopping channel" of train Sims.

A native (built in) ability to assign controllers, preferably including the ability to have different profiles for different locomotives, similar to how MSFS2024 handle aircraft profiles. That would get away from being dependent on individual devs to set up “raildriver” support (which is actually broad controller support in some ways) and remove the need to depend on external programs.

That and some Canadian content! There’s three great commuter systems to choose from plus endless freight routes.

Sorry, I am new here and the thread title is "What do you want?"

I didn't realise that I needed to run my ideas past you before posting.

I'll send you both a PM before every post I make in future, just to get your permission.

I'd like there to be a commitment to having a permanent team dedicated to the back catalogue (i.e. anything that's passed from recent release). Their role would be to fix minor annoying bugs on old trains and routes, and back-porting new features (such as announcements) to them.

    Focus on fixing the game.

It's not very promising when I leave the game since January, and still the same game issues are being experienced today.

A DLC featuring 1600mm gauge tracks and trains made by Tokyu, Hyundai, CAF and GM all in one place (ireland, was hoping emoji worked for me on here)

If czech went well that would too. Lots of opportunity for fairly high speed single line sections.
And a nice stuffed timetable without reliance on owning a billion layers.

Perhaps TSW7 should introduce a strategy spin off, along the lines of Transport Fever, Railroader or the illusive Century of Steam. Give us something to do other than clockface timetables back and forth A to B or occasionally C, no matter how nice the route or trains. And it goes without saying that should come with a route/world editor that doesn’t require a degree in quantum physics or relativity to actually create our own little worlds.

I think it just should be something like rush hour 2 instead of a new game (since it made TSW 2 last more than 1 year).
Not being lazy and add more content to TTC.
Go back to the old late TSW 2 menu GUI instead of what is now.
    And optimization.

Maybe it’s silly, but I’d really like a career mode. Call it journey mode 2.0. More in-depth with a more narrative tone.
All the up’s and down’s of the day to day running of your schedule/s. Getting radio calls from the signaller and having multiple dialogue choices that affect the outcome of your story. Will you be GWR’s employee of the mouth or will you be called into a meeting to discuss your incompetence “you’re fired”.

That kind of already exists in Railroader & Derail Valley, and frankly those two games I think do much better jobs at it than TSW could ever do. DTG's routes have too little content to spread out into a career mode, at least, assuming we don't want a grind fest of repeating the same one or two types of services over and over again.

Also on the "with a more narrative tone." bit, thing is DTG did try that at points, and frankly they kind of sucked at it. Horseshoe had a set of scenarios like that, writing was very cheesy and groan worthy. I also hate the scenarios they did for the Gas Turbine & OG Big Boy for that reason. More recently with Wonders of Sodor, like their stories are ok, but there's a very obvious quality gap between the adapted and original stories.

question if dtg fix that blurry issue. could tsw7 make blurry act up again? right now dtg is focused on fixing the blurry issues and all the dlc is from third party. i feel like this game is hitting the classic feel.

It would be nice to have something a little less abstract than the current AP system.

I took another look at The Bus last night, as it’s now out of early access and decided to try the company mode. You start off by buying a cheap secondhand bus and subbing in for one off runs that the actual Berlin bus company is short of resources to cover. Presumably eventually you build up a fleet and start your own rival bus lines. However this approach isn’t going to work in TSW where the routes are scattered both location and time wise. Even the best route is going to get tedious going back and forth over the same section repeatedly and there is no real business equivalent on most of the railway sections featured in TSW to support that type of career gameplay. At best you could maybe be a charter company but then that still doesn’t get around the time jump between the various routes, or the fact private operators run on the real railway under very strict oversight.

I would settle for more balanced AP between routes/trains (looking at you Bakerloo) and some sort of accurate distance and infringement tracker.

    My wishlist would be:

    - More Dutch routes (Utrecht - Amersfoort - Zwolle for example)
    - Requests stops functionality. I know in Britain there are quite a few request stop stations (don't know if any IRL request stop stations are on the routes that are exitsing now in TSW, but if not probably some routes will have them for new maps made in the future)
    - A new underground line. I know this is probably never going to happen, because of the amount of work this takes to make, but one can hope right?
    - Map Eastbourne - Ashford International. That way you can almost loop around
    - Map Brighton - Portsmouth Harbor & Southampton Central would also be nice (even better when included with small branches bagnor regis & littlehampton)

The best thing Dovetail can do is adopt a modern sim lifecycle model based on long-term commitment from the core player base, and not this rubbish with yearly releases that seems to focus on targeting the "long tail" of impulse buyers who will get a couple of routes and call it a day. Sims are not a mass-market game, they never will be, and this constant chasing of low-hanging fruit is done at the expense of the people who take part in the sim actively. This isn't even a case of a sim player like me wishing something lofty, it's how actually successful sims like Flight Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator work as a product that makes money sustainably with fewer costs in the long term.

The codebase needs to focus on and implement a robust, strongly object-oriented base game logic based on domain-driven design, to support third party content development.
Look at signaling, for example. It's been eight years and countless releases, yet the game still relies on hacks like route points ("go via") and dummy signals (representing ATC code change points) for routine dispatching to work. Even with barebones automatic + manual signaling, without any type of active train safety system, this leads to unnecessary bottlenecks in traffic and things like being shown a Caution (or equivalent) aspect until you drive over the waypoint that manually triggers the AI dispatcher to clear the route (which it could have done much earlier).
It's just one example, but it's become apparent that the base game is not keeping up with the number of diverse add-ons from various countries and rulesets, making actual content development (the long-term money maker) far more difficult and costly than it needs to be.

All routes going foward to look like medway and the performance to go with it. This route has shown what can be done with decent optimization care and attention.

    1. Something to make the world feel less dead, more things blowing in the wind, birds, people outside of stations, I dunno, but it feels like the apocalypse has happened and stations are the only safe havens. The Dawlish wall where everyone takes videos being empty and Funder Park operating without a single person being there really highlighted the need for this.

    2. Realistically applied house lighting. I go past way too many buildings with every single window lit at 3am, and so do the 5 houses next to them, and it looks a bit LOVE.

    3. Blackpool Branches Pre-Grouping, rather than going to Ormskirk you go to Knott End. Webb Coal Tank, Aspinal Highflyer, and whichever Class G variant is time appropriate.

Id like to see a Nintendo switch 2 release. Surely this can't be impossible, it was suggested that the spec of the Switch 2 was similar to that of the PS4 Pro

Either way I'd rather play it on the go. Such as doing a BML service....on a BML service...

    AI is the future apparently.

Though if anyone says that, immediately block them from your socials and avoid any future contact with them because they're gullible and haven't got the intelligence to realise how fundamentally flawed it is.

My wife keeps getting AI slop emails from customers for questions as challenging as "What are your opening hours?" and "how much will this repair cost?". It was a bad sign when I started to see questions being asked on-line that could just have easily been typed into Google to get an answer. Nowadays people like that have AI to help with a task that used to require knowing where the library was when I was a kid.

Anyway, AI. Big but not clever.
    Rant over.
