Interesting route, I use the metro on a daily basis. Wouldn't mind driving it!

Aye, and always wondered just how the old stock run myself. Be nice if they were ever simulated as an archive piece of the 80s, cause no way will any new stock be quite like the quirky 994s :)

Looks cool, quick tip - the unit should not be covered by the logo, so you need to move it to the left/right depending on the image :)

They are very nice. The seat at the front is the best spot. Theres not many trains where you can see out the front window, in the UK at least. :)

FANTASTIC proposal!! I've been interested in the Tyne and Wear Metro system since I was a kid - I've never ridden on it, but from the details your proposal lays out and what I know of it through open source research, it would make a strong addition as a TSW route!

Hey you never know, the last two UK routes have been in the north and after a forum post on here about the TVL look what happened. Also Tyne and Wear would surely be the natural progression so to speak after Yorkshire and Teesside? :D

Good idea now all you got to do is get Matt and team to sort it as I asked Matt on live YouTube stream when we will get new British tsw route to which I got reply we’ve got one east coastway so good luck with that though is good idea and I’d buy though as they say chance be a fine thing and I think as far as DTG and tsw concerned more chance of winning lottery as they forever say give us proposals yet I’ve never seen anything be it multiple units or routes asked for actually implemented take London Underground for example number of time’s that’s been asked for in tsw and surprise surprise sweet FA done

Wow! I think this would be a great route for TSW. Personally I’m not into metro routes that much, but this could be something new! Peninsula Corridor is 47 miles long, and the entire network is 48 miles, there shouldn’t be a problem with its creation. Also, DTG has already done Rapid Transit, which the underground stations might look similar to those of this route, so I don’t think DTG should have a problem;)

Functioning station announcements and timetable would be something new (and rather unique) to add to TSW, I agree, we do need something like that in TSW:)

Ended up measuring the route lengths on Google (thank you social isolation, haha):

Green line comes in at 23mi/37km. Yellow line comes in at 31mi/50km. This is in the current post-2005 routing.

So definitely a case for some decent driving sessions and racking up those points should we hopefully get this one day :D

I get the feeling that if Nexus were to licence it they'd probably request the new Stadler trains be used.

That might be a nice idea. Not often we get DLC that is based on future routes/locos. I can only think of 2 DLCs that were made for TS Classic that were future based; North Somerset Railway and Chatham Mainline at the time it was made. Having the new Stadler trains in the game before they enter service IRL would be a cool thing. :)

If you mean are the trains automatic, I don't think so. They still need drivers for them. The link here talks about the new trains and the article gives a link to a 3D walkthrough of the new trains which shows the cab too - https://www.nexus.org.uk/newmetrotrains

But look in this picture the train doesn’t have a cab
    upload_2020-4-13_18-51-17.jpeg
So until the new trains come out it’s gonna be automatic

This is one thing that makes the Metrocars unique. Looking at the front of the train in that image, the cab is to the right hand side where the lit up 101 number is. There is a passenger seat on the left hand side, a seat that passengers really like as they can look out the front window, a thing I am going to miss when these trains are pulled out of service.

This image here shows how little the cab is. Only covers 1 of the 3 front windows.

So, bit of a crazy theory as to how we might see this one day (this is all just theory, it wont go anywhere and has no credibility)...

The tyne and wear metro shared this on Facebook last night...

    https://www.facebook.com/273400136012565/posts/3303556136330268/

For those that dont facebook, its a picture of Michael Portillo who presents Great British Railway Journeys which also happens to be... A dovetail addon for TS:2020

    https://live.dovetailgames.com/live...rticle/great-british-railway-journeys-out-now

I've never watched the show, so not sure why it was recorded on there.. I imagine for the eastcoast mainline? But still a nice little fan theory .

I realize this thread is old, but I would definitely be interested in this. I would even pay extra if more than 3 types of drivable trains were included (3 seems to be the limit, with some routes having just 1 or 2 locos). But more than 3 locos would open a route up for much more services and scenarios right away.

I’d definitely buy it and I live in Plymouth, the other end of the country. However, I’ve used the Metro many times and love it.

I made the same suggestion about a week ago! (Just not as much detail) it would be brilliant to see my local route in the game. With the addition to the new fleet of trains coming 2023 and with it celebrating its 40th anniversary this year it would be a perfect time to add this route.

I think you'll be able to find something here https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/metro_system_diagrams_gradients

Also just a heads up, it's not a good idea to post on long-dead threads, as you'll likely end up with a warning.
