Well, in all honesty I just goofed. (Really, they are very similar- I can only tell them apart by counting the windows between the doors). But, yes, at München the S-Bahn are 423s, 425s run regional services.

You make a Valid point, "BUT" one of the last winners also entered an invalid shot and yet it was let go and it was put in the winner circle, who knows he just may win? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ No clear statements have been made on how the selection process works, is it that the devs hash it out around a table on who likes what? It's surly on the likes count, last week proved that.
I agree with you here but DTG seem to decide shots regardless if they 'break the rules', who wins is dependent on likes of course, which I find strange because what's the point of others putting shots in if it's the same people winning all the time, randomize your winners please and thank you DTG , not trying to be negative or anything but yeah, agree with your point
I agree too, that should not have been allowed to stay. Kind of disappointing I must say. This is unrelated but in general I have found in life that persons in charge of things have certain favourites or give a free pass to certain individuals (for many multiple reasons of their own) who will always get a pass regardless of their actions or the rules. I see it every day. It's just how life goes - in everything... you're either "in" or "out" of favour of the gods. It's beyond our control so to use an over-used current phrase - "it is what it is". Doesn't make it right, but why worry yourself over it? Carry on, C'est la vie!
I honestly don't think that screenshot comp is fair sometimes, as a photographer I have seen some brilliant shots which have only got a few likes or not been picked as winners, it would be nice for DTG to tell us, how they choose the winner, what are they actually looking for, I have seen winners that personally I don't think was a good as other shots. But as DTG are the judges then fair enough. Some shots are dramatic, some are great in composition, and some winners have left me scratching my head. I also wish DTG would make the capture process quicker without such a loooooooong shutter lag, or delay when taking the shot, in reality, you are capturing that moment.
Thank you to everyone who has entered the screenshot contest this year, some really fantastic shots keep it up, the screenshot contest will return in January, this weeks winner with this awesome shot on South Eastern is aeronautic237, Congratulations. Have a lovely christmas and new year everyone!
Oh wow thank you! My first win! It feels really weird! EDIT: OH MY WORD they kept the exclamation mark in "South Eastern High Speed Extended!" Was not expecting that!
It absolutely is a decision by a committee inside DTG, chaired (I believe) by Alex as CM. It is NOT a popularity contest and "likes" have nothing to do with it (although, of course, good pictures tend to attract likes, thus winners may well also have high public approval totals). You registered your objection to the winner two weeks ago most emphatically. The judges admitted they missed it so it slipped through (it was pretty darn non-obvious). Now you just sound like a football fan still complaining about a foul the ref didn't see, long after the match is over.
That is a valid argument you have here and sums up what I was about to ask in this reply, thanks for clearing this up for me included
If that's the way you see it, so be it! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ If you see it as me crying foul over a bad Ref call then maybe take a look at others who stated the same thing prior to me and make the same statement to them. Clearly, if you read my post I was replying to someone else's post, making a statement that many others agree upon that the one shot that made it into the winner circle, should not have. Because it violated the rules. Clearly, DTG stated that they missed it and let it go anyway. They also agreed that it was an invalid shot. I clearly wasn't the only one or the first to make the statement. As a matter of fact, me being new to all of this, I didn't notice part of the shot was invalid. It was someone else who was more knowledgeable who pointed out the invalid locomotive /engine /train. Pick one. You stated "It absolutely is a decision by a committee inside DTG, chaired (I believe) by Alex as CM." This may very well be true. Maybe it's not? I don't know, it's never been stated by anyone from (DTG). Again, I'm not the only one that has made this statement. And surely, I am not complaining after the Ref made the bad call. It is what it is. I am not going to lose sleep over it. I feel like I have to defend myself here, I am only one in a list of people who have said the same thing about how fair/ unfair the selection process is. One week it's someone with 4 likes and the next week it's someone with 13 or more likes. If it is like you stated, this should be in the rules and as someone else pointed out, it seems to always be the same people(?) or trains/ locomotive/ engine. Pick one. At this point in the game, I'm here to have fun "as best as I can". I could give a flying rats a**. It is what it is, but it's not and shouldn't be. Merry Christmas.
