The rules of the contest are clear. Only DTG selects the photo. But regardless of this, as a participant in this competition, I find that the rules adopted in this way are idiotic. Because - since there are no clear criteria apart from a loose definition of the subject - why organize any competition at all without being sure about the competence of the jurors? Just choose from a huge database of screenshots when you can't even bother to justify your choice. This frustrates and discourages participation in the future. Let's respect each other!
Respecting everyone´s opinion of course, but don´t you take this all too serious? God knows I have my beef with DTG, but c´mon it´s their house and, thus, their rules. And if you find them buggy, hey ..... that´s just keeping good ol´ DTG tradition, I´d guess. Anyway, I´m participating with absolute assurance to never be able to win this contest. It starts with my pitiful picture resolution from a PS4 Slim (Gaaawd, the OHLE giving it all away) and yet it´s fun enough. You have to prepare the shot, find a suitable camera spot, the best lighting, chose the weather composition within the sim´s limitations, get right on time to a certain place, sometimes having to walk quite a few miles and then fine tune the angle ..... It makes me learn to know the sim better, and that´s what makes it worth to participate. Think about it ...
This "unvetted mob of forum users" are registered people playing TSW, not a random mob. I wouldn't call them that because you're one of them. I will say more, these are the people who finance this project by buying subsequent versions of TSW and a lot of more or less refined DLC.

Each registered user of the game can click under the picture that he likes. One user = one click. After all, they, the users, will see this photo on the game's start screen. In the case of photos outside the category, ineligible due to technical parameters, blurred, trivial or duplicate, the organizer selects the next one with the most clicks. In the case of outstanding photos, the organizer chooses but justifies what guided him in making his exclusive choice. In this way, you will avoid choosing photos that users do not like, and for various reasons are favored by the organizers. I believe everyone would be happy that way.

This isn't a good way to pick winners either, way back in the day, the TSC contests were done by likes on a post, however people would purposely make fake accounts to boost their like total, which obviously lead to problems. This also happened shortly after the TSC NZ route was released and there was a huge influx of likes on the NZ route shots for that contest vs other photos. The amount of likes don't usually guarantee a win, but photos with a high number of likes usually have a higher chance of being picked by DTG as that week's winner.
