    And thanks for your valuable feedback during testing it. I’d never have known about the AMD GPU thing without it! :)

    yeah added a few lines myself in the base part such as

    au.Concurrency.MinVolumeScale=0.00001
    au.SoundDistanceOptimizationLength=2
    au.VirtualLoops.PerfDistance=500
    au.VirtualLoops.UpdateRate.Max=0.5
    au.VirtualLoops.UpdateRate.Min=0.1

    Great work. Will have a proper read and do some tweaking.

    Also, that manual is fabulous.

    One thing I meant to ask.
    Is there an instruction for the ini, that does the same as the slider.
    I know the slider is easy, but lets for example say on my system, ECML needs a slider setting of 0.5. Can I add a line to the ini and not use the slider?
    Even though I am on pc, sometimes I sit in a comfy chair further away. :D

    The problem that you try to fix with you're whole mod is not possible to fix with a few tweaks like you try to bring. The problem is the whole bad game it self... What DTG have doing wrong is to toggle the TOD4 and do nothing core based to create a good lightning with less problems you can see for exemple in Left Rhine route.... The trees are totally nuked some times and that has to do with to much daylighting. Everything is to bright and if you ever watched outside a window you can noticed that the lighting ingame is a total mess and way to bright.
    The only who can fix this problem is DTG but they have no interest at all. If you see the livestreams you can see on a bizar low quality what the effects are in the most worse cases.

    I'm unable to zoom out to adjust my FOV like I was doing in the previous God mode, how would I go about re enabling this function?

    Mouse up to enable the God Mode Bar. Then click on the cog in the top right corner:
    upload_2023-10-24_0-53-41.png

    Then Tick the "Enabled" box under "Zoomier zoom":

    Those issues are as to close to removed with this as it’s possible to be. You’re right, this is on DTG to fix but they’re clearly not going to, and this mod goes a long way towards improving things to make the game look more realistic. It also improves the fidelity of the graphics and makes it a smoother and thereby more enjoyable experience. We can’t perform miracles, there really are only so many tools in the armoury.

    Assuming you’re the same Xander1986 that feels this is an ‘absolute joke’ then feel free to remove it, and don’t let the door hit your backside on the way out.

    Also, don't forget if you are playing with controller, you have to adjust the FOV with the mouse wheel. This also has a strange side effect of disabling the Zoom function via the left stick, but only sometimes. :D

    Thanks once again JetWash just tried the new settings (High) on South Eastern Highspeed and they worked very well (i9 10th Gen + 3080). If it wasn't for you and the likes of London Midland and Bescot with their Signal and Vegetation Mods, I wouldn't bother playing this game nearly as much as I do.

    All,

    Hold my hands up here, I’m a plonker. I missed a step in the manual to clear the DX cache (which is needed for the shader compilation to work correctly and should remove the last bits of hitching and pausing) and somehow missed the Dresden Riesa route from the mod entirely. I’ll blame having been away working, spending all day yesterday at a funeral then going away with work again tomorrow.

    Anyway, I’ll post an update this morning to the manual. Regarding Riesa, as I’m aware people will probably have started tweaking things themselves I will update it in two ways. I’ll update the .sav files for those that wish to drag and drop, and will include a .txt document so you can copy and paste the text into GodMode yourselves.

    Hopefully, for the foreseeable future this should be the last update. I’ve had a kind of offer of help to write scripts to automate this whole process but that is probably a bit away.

    Apologies again.

    JW

    Just did a really lovely run on Voralberg - it's the White Out scenario, and honestly I think shows off TSW visuals at their best. The range of colours and the way the light changes from dusk through to early evening... I couldn't help compare to Arosalinie, and it's like a totally different game.

    Load up the game and see what it looks like without these mods. I can't even tell you how many hours work I put into this and as of now it was all for nothing. Why bother?

    They touted GodMode as an example of a working mod, now they've gone and broken it. You couldn't script it.

    I'd just got a couple of hours to myself to sit and play and then this. A patch that fixes a lot of nothing and breaks mods. Again. Blinkin' Halloween.

    they are supposed to have fixed modded .pak files with the update.

    Modded .pak files should now work as expected within Train Sim World 4.

    I wonder what has gone wrong.

    They've nerfed all the core mods, and this relied on GodMode which was one of them. They've also killed LondonMidlands signals mod which I refuse to play without.

    Honestly, if you are aware of the issue why do you release it in a broken state?

    I mean:
    • Modded .pak files should now work as expected within Train Sim World 4.
    This should mean "Hey we have adapted the code so mods do work again as expected" and what happens is they are not?

    I agree with you but it´s not just a core problem. Many 3D objects (trees in particular, which by the way are the most common and therefore some of the main shadow casting actors) have no shadows because their LODs are faulty. Trees introduced with TSW3 newer routes use a very detailed LOD2 for the longer distances (almost as detailed as LOD1 used at medium distances), which generates a massive performance drop with cascaded shadows at dawn/dusk. Those trees are basically the standard now, so basically all routes are affected.

    Those two examples mean that just shadows alone are not going to be consistent nor performance optimized even if a core update happens. DLCs need also to be updated. That was the result of using dedicated objects per DLC instead of including a common generic objects library maintained for each base game and read by all DLCs in that base game version, as most games do. Old 3D objects are not usually updated or fixed once the support period for the DLC is over, so problem is propagated over the time whenever any new route DLC still reuses and repacks those faulty objects again. Oakville trees have been violet since DLC was published for TSW2 for instance and nowadays, after the multiple preserved collection iterations, they are still violet.

    Cheers

    Hey folks. To update - we've just pushed an update on Steam to revert the mods patch of today's update. We believe this will bring mods back to where they were pre-update.

    Thanks for letting us know of the issues, and for your patience as we've sorted.

    I’m a little late to the party here but I can’t recommend this mod enough. I have virtually no stutters now. It is silky smooth running with everything set on ultra pretty much. And the graphics look lightyears better now. Funny how TSW4 runs so much better with these settings vs. a vanilla game right out of the box. Again, I can’t recommend this enough. Awesome job! Thank you so much.

    All, just a note to say I’ve been busy working (hours and hours of tweaking, testing, sleep, repeat) on v3.3 which I’ll hopefully be in a position to upload not long after Blackpool has released.

    It includes a significant number of changes & improvements and should necessitate less playing around with sliders etc. I’ve fine tuned many more of the parameters to suit each route (particularly shadows) and you’ll doubtless be pleased to know there is also no longer any need to provide differing versions for different VRAMs, nor will you have to change these numbers yourselves. There will be simply be Ultra, High, Medium & Low versions (which will contain at least 144 different presets, not including Blackpool-Preston). Next time there is a sale I’ll certainly be looking to add NY-Trenton and Niddertalbahn to the party. Finally, It will have an entirely new parameter that Foobian has very kindly added to GodMode for me (that is very cool indeed) and which will make driving in Autumn much more realistic.

    I will get it out as soon as I can, but ideally I want it to be right rather than it needing updating again. Once it is released I’ll aim to only update going forward when a new DLC releases (that I want to buy of course!).

    Cheers.

    Fantastic job JetWash. This is transformative. However I was hoping you or someone else here could assist me with an issue I'm having.

    I'm running a RTX 4090 with i5-13600K. I have 64GB of DDR5 and TSW4 is installed on an SSD. The only mods I have are this one, God Mode, and your vegetation mod.

    When playing, I get frequent massive stutters that are more like freezes than stutters. We're talking freezes of sometimes up to 5 seconds. These happen variably from every 5-10 seconds at times to every 30 seconds. Needless to say, this makes the game very difficult to play. This happens mostly on the first run of a route. Once the route has been fully run from start to finish once, it's as if the route remains cached, and the stutter-freezes are much more mild and infrequent. But the first run of a route is hell. Between the freezes the game runs at 60FPS+ without issue. I certainly expect some traversal stutter in a UE4 game, but this is well beyond that.

    In comparison, I do not have this large stutter/freeze issue with other .ini edits. Wondering if you have experienced this and know what may be causing it?

    Well, I figured out my own problem. I'll leave my posts in case it helps someone else in the future with the same issue. I didn't realize TSW4 defaults to DX11. Forcing DX12 completely removed the freezes and the game has never run smoother. Still some small traversal stutter here and there, but that's UE4 for you.

    Pleased you sorted it out. I’ve an updated version to come later this week all being that slims down the commands significantly, further tunes the individual routes and really improves colouring.

    It’s worth mentioning again though that DX11 is all but useless IMHO and as per the manual this mod is for DX12 only. There are lines in it that relate to DX12 only and would inevitably therefore cause issues with DX11. It’s also worth reiterating, if you haven’t already done so, to delete your DXcache and let it recompile from scratch when using these tweaks.

    All - v3.3 is available which includes substantial changes and is much more user-friendly.

    It looks and performs much better than previous versions and really makes the game sing. In my opinion of course!

    Barring a mistake on my part (which is possible as the are currently 152 separate presets!) I only intend to update going forward when new routes are available or I buy one I don’t already have.
