A question to everyone, are people feeling more excited or nervous at the moment regarding the August announcement? At the moment I'm probably just a little more excited, then again, I worry a little about being disappointed.
I'm hoping for the exact same! I'm very excited! Can't wait! Little nervous as I'd like it to be set modern day with an 800 but like a 91 would be alr too.
I really want a big improvement in sounds. Otherwise unless the routes are familiar to me I'm not buying.
I'm excited. We have been talking about TSW4 since TSW3 came out. Everything we wished would be in TSW3 will be present in TSW4. I also know I will be disappointed
Gamescom in Germany is starting August 23. Xbox is gonna be there. Could be they'll include this new release as a new third-party Game Pass title. Marketing in tandem with Xbox could be why they chose August 22 for the announcement.
nervous because DTG (probably but surely) releases another TSW game for another lot of money, but excited if there's going to be a new ICE introduced. hopefully not the ICE 2 or ICE T though because they are just straight up U N N E C E S S A R Y
Neither because I don't do "hype" or "anticipation" when I have zero idea of what they're going to say and seven years of history of what might be not coming from this particular direction... Some people thought that TSW3 was going to take the game in a new direction. Not sure why anyone would, at this moment in time, think that anything DTG have to say on the subject will bring anything new (and unbroken) to the market
The nerve of these guys. So much they couldn't get right or were straight up unwilling to fix in TSW3 yet they have the nerve to have a TSW4 on the way.
Honestly - this. People say Oh TSW4 is 100% coming.... With like 2 pieces of circumstancial evidence. A epicgames leak (and spanish leak) which can easily just NOT be TSW4 and the Preorder Leaks which... actually seems the most likely out of the 2 evidence to be valid. As for evidence AGAINST TSW4 well.... lets have a look. - DTG german locomotive that still hasnt been released and was only recently added to the roadmap showing its coming out for TSW3 - Skyhook Scenario pack for the US - Definetly evidence enough that its for TSW3 and NOT for TSW4 - UK route by JT - We KNOW for certain its built for TSW3 so its obviously COMING for TSW3 not TSW4 - 420 by TSG - been there for ages, Seems to be TSW3's equivilant of the 313 if anyone remembers that. - NYC timetable enchancements - I do NOT see DTG doing this unless either NYC is the american route (which would be horrendous) for TSW4. - Save Game - We KNOW this is coming for TSW3 so that still is there theres even more but the other pieces are more circumstancial. Theres just evidence on both sides showing evidence with more leaning against it. But that new code leak though is really suspcious.
Didn't the roadmap from TSW2 just move over to TSW3? BML was already on the roadmap of TSW2. So was Boston Sprinter which got its remake in TSW3. Everything on the roadmap for TSW 3 becomes roadmap TSW 4 A false prediction: BML remake is coming to TSW5
I think DTG need to step in and calm some of the more emotive hyperbole in this thread. It's a computer game, one that most of us enjoy (or we wouldn't be here, right?).
Well.... See some of the threads and you question that. There are people who play it covering it up with "Theres no other game" and that elsewise the game is horrible and DTG is the worse company ever. So yeah.
Only the minor changes - TSW2 made sure ALL routes and locos where released before TSW3 was even close to being announced (IOW2022 came out like a couple of months before TSW3). I think with the amount of locos, routes and addons there are left to do it'd seem stupid to move it. ESPECIALLY if there going to UE5.
The only thing DTG can do to calm us down now is handing out beta copies to everyone. We will shut up for a few hours but we probably will be back with even more emotive hyperbole
Yep - thats what happened in the DTG discord when pre order was released (trust me theres a reason I stopped using it)
Whatever we get I hope it comes out well done and not halfbaked. We don’t want a repeat of the MML or the WCMLS releases on TSC and TSW
JD or Jan should add the TSW4 tag already so people who hate the TSW4 talk can ignore it more easily. They need to make the tag soon anyway. Less stuff to do for the admins when the 22nd arrives
And if it you know... ISNT tsw4? Thats still a possibilty - theres actually nothing CONFIRMING TSW4 just a couple dodgy leaks.
They pretty much have all the freight covered it’s all csx ns bnsf or up except for kcs unless they wanna go old school like pennsy or conrail etc
There is too much coincidence already for all those rumours and leaks to line up so perfectly. The French article has predicted what was going to happen on certain dates. Epic is not some dodgy leak. It's a confirmation of stuff happening on dates predicted in that article. And listen very carefully? Can you hear the DTG TSW4 silence? It's deafening. It's almost like the admins are on vacation ... until some false rumour creeps up which might ruin the hype.
I mean I dont think DTG cares about silencing things - They never have silenced anything before unless its downright harmfull or whatever. Epic is only based in codewords - It could easily be some new expansion to TSW3 and the french and spanish site is definetly dodgy.
I didn't mean they silence someone. I mean the team has gone silent. Days of speculating about TSW4. People begging for an announcement that there will be an announcement. DTG provides an announcement adding even more fuel to the speculation because the dates align. Why would we need to download every route again or why does DTG think we have the money to buy all those files they have prepared to release. The French site was dodgy. Epic confirmed the site is legit
Well I guess we will see. Honestly aslong as TSW4 has all previous DLC port and a half decent british route so I can grab it Im fine.
At first I was excited, because I like games. And trains. And this does both very well ! But then I remembered that with TSW4, a lot of things would go missing that I just can not play without. The .ini file settings, various enhancement mods for routes and locos, godmode, and the new lighting. As excited as I am, I also know that it will take a few months at least before I get back into my old comfort of having all these mods working. And what's with the save game, what if we can't import it from TSW3 ? I don't want to start all over. And the achivements ? Sure, some got unlocked in TSW3 after the savegame carryover, but all collectable based ones didn't, for example. After all, I am more worried about the state of the new release as I am excited. But if it looks promising enough, I'll be excited again !
Honestly this is why I refused to go dependent on mods and buy everything. It leaves you in a state of paranoia whenever this happens. Most routes though are fine without mods so yeah dont worry about it, stick to the good routes for a little bit an its good.
Oh we all do, I can have a really good run that leaves me feeling warm and happy or come up against a stupid situation which has me rage quitting. IMHO these next three weeks are the time when the Ambassadors should be earning all that free software DTG have given them. They should be authorised and delegated to keep things calm, based on what can be openly spoken about, thus avoiding much of the more outrageous speculation. Otherwise, what is the point of them? And of course bearing in mind Ambassadors should also represent the views in the other direction, they should also be hammering on DTG's door, pointing out the disquiet that is now arising and looking for a course of action to keep it in check (other than closing the forums for three weeks..! ).
I don't think I would want to be an ambassador in a time like this. Everyone thinks you are already playing TSW4 when you are not streaming so everyone wants to know if it is any good
Well both the Epic database and the French leaker said August 22 for the preorder date. This Dovetail Direct event is on August 22 (where they said there is something "big" to be announced). Add in the fact that there's no August roadmap and there is definitely more evidence pointing towards TSW4 than not.
okay. "not really more variety" I am assuming you are not german because only german railfans would understand this. having an ICE 3 and an ICE 1 only is kinda boring, and more boring especially when there are routes where only one of them drives, currently KWG is the only route with both the first and third generation ICE driving around. an ICE 4 would be good for lots of routes since they are also everywhere IRL, and an ICE 3 Velaro D just can't be left out for its beautiful sound and the unique look (yes I know every ICE has its unique look but shut up for a sec). I don't know what your opinion is but my point stands for myself!
Why are those 2 ice units unnecessary? The icet for example is more appropriate for riesa dresden than the ice3 currently running it
As well as ECML South modern, I'd like to see a North American freight route (US or Canadian) with spectacular mountain passes. In TSC we have several and they all work very well. The gradients make for skillful driving especially with the extra control details we have, they are a challenge. The one that leaps out to me is Canadian Pacific in the Rocky Mountains as per Canadian Mountain Passes in TSC. I'd also like to see Oakville updated with passenger traffic as well, why did they leave that out? I think sometimes DTG can rush things in the desire to farm dlc too fast. Please complete each route with all possible operator and train types before moving on. Give us every possible layer so we can get proper immersion like the real thing, this is what simulation means. Another detail is if you watch those YouTube videos like Virtual Railfan, you see engines of multiple companies hauling manifests and not just regimented power units all the same, so you might see Norfolk Southern power sharing a manifest with Canadian National for example, it would be cool to replicate this.
We used to have this but it became too obsessive, and turned Sand Patch Grade into a Union Pacific route. Not to mention it also did really dumb substitutions like the Clinchfield SD40 or other SD40-2s (They are no longer road power in the modern era) Another issue is the fact that not every loco is built the same, and could cause issues with braking on a downhill slope. So you could theoretically spawn with a train that you can't stop on a downhill grade. It's why I hope DTG doesn't make any new modern US freight content until all of their and Skyhooks equipment is rebuilt and revised to 1 standard.
I agree, if that is the case, this is a good indicator to be either Metro North's New Haven line or Hudson Line as their total track distance comes in at around 73-75 miles according to track maps Then again, I vaguely recall back in one of the streams for TSW2, Matt mentioning of a potential Pacific Surfliner route possibly debuting at some point. It's hard to say what the US passenger route will be but either way, I think I will be satisfied with whatever happens hopefully
