My Problem with new TSW titles was not the hype or lack of excitement for the new content. In general i liked what was announced. No the true problem is the only perfectly polished content is the marketing hype and nothing but nothing else. (Speaking for dtg content only). They constantly brake new things on older routes and dont even fix it. A good example is the botched timetable task menu ingame, which is opened with "t". On 95% of the services its empty now across all routes. The hyped up content which players are looking forward to is not polished or lacks quality badly. I remember with tsw4 the entire substitution system was totally botched. There is still proof on riesa dresden, only 185.5, 146 and 143 will spawn. Every single freight train had a 185 5 or 143. Dtg showed they can produce good dlcs, but tsw5 was a real disappointment from certain aspects. The mess with wcmls is very embaressing for a tsw headliner + one of the most awaited route choice. Since beside the new dutch route, literally every other release lacked polish badly, why is everybody thingking tsw6 makes it up to the hype? The other problem, which is a major to me: can DTG keep up will all the feature they introduce? I mean all locos have suspension physics from now right? Guard mode will be a standard feature in the future right? I saw it on the 114. The brake valve is still modeled totaly wrong. At release the pgr selector was just show. All brake timings were the same. To me it doesnt look promising, that dtg is letting down very basic train related features to make space for fancy gimick.
Subject to what’s said on this week’s Roadmap I’m still more than half convinced that’s where the Frankfurt S Bahn route is destined for. And with no in house UK or US route announced, you can be pretty much certain we won’t see anything for either region until TSW6 drops.
Thats a route made by tsg, who makes superb content. Same for JT. Blackpool and carlisle are my favourite. I was refering to DTG content.
Oh sorry my mistake, I wrote that straight after waking up so must of missed read it, yeah they are also my favourites and I also do love NTP and TVL
That's what I meant in my post, regarding quality control. In a game which is built on so, so many DLC's, I won't be mad if some things slip through the cracks. Nobody's perfect, and not every possible combination or situation can be tested. But so many of the newer routes are riddled with problems that should definitely have been caught in testing. During my first runs on basically any new route in the recent years I noticed issues which made me think "Why wasn't THIS caught at testing?". Some say, the first impression counts the most. Makes good quality control before release all the more important. And there's this lack of transparency about troubleshooting. That's what I'd like to see more of in a roadmap: "We are aware of issue A. The problem has been narrowed down, a probable fix is currently in testing." "We are currently working on problem B, it seems related to C. Sadly, we haven't found a fix yet but are still at it." "Issues D, E and F have been solved, tested and the fixes will be included in next week's patch." Another thing that bugs me. New "exciting" features like those you mentioned tend to be introduced so half-heartedly that they fade into oblivion. Guard mode for example has become window dressing, at least for me. I tend to forget it even exists...
