VR Thomas sounds almost a bit scary, it has a touch of the uncanny valley about it :D. Agree on having to get people to experience VR - you really can't do it justice any other way. It's a shame that it's still so expensive, though of course most hardware prices have gone through the roof lately.
I've no idea how much work it would be to implement a VR control scheme, but you'd need comfort features as well. I don't get motion sickness so I can flip between cab camera views and fly around in external views or on foot without any problem, but that would be unusable for a lot of people - you'd need the option for teleport motion, blinkers, fixed vs. smooth turning etc. It's probably harder than it sounds to go from a mouse pointer moving on a 2-D plane to actually having to follow the contours of a 3D model to select controls, though I'm sure it is do-able.
Matt P is a VR enthusiast and I think he would go for it if the demand was there. Unfortunately it never comes high up on user surveys, I think sadly that VR hasn't captured enough share of the gaming market to tip the scales in DTG Towers. A lot of people think it's just a gimmick, and it can be, but (just my opinion for what it's worth) for simulation gaming it can take it to another level. Still, I'm not going to grumble about a free solution that was much easier to set up, and works way better than I ever expected.
