Welcome to the Unofficial Screenshot Competition This is a fun and friendly alternative to the official Screenshot Competition run by DTG. Here you can share your weekly themed TSC screenshots using any 3rd party / post shot editing etc. creations which are not allowed in the official competition. Rules: TSC only shots allowed. Screenshot should be in some way (can be very tenuous) linked to the theme. Otherwise anything goes. You can enter up to 3 screenshots, posted as separate posts. You can delete and replace if you wish. 3rd party content / Reshades / Reskins etc. are welcomed but are not mandatory. Previous week's winner to decide winner (can't enter themselves). The winner chooses the new theme for next week (and becomes the new judge). The Judge of the week's decision is final. We strongly discourage any negative comment or criticism of another entry by a fellow contributor, this is a light hearted & fun contest! This is a major "we are all friendly" thread and we hope it will always remain so. Please keep chat to an absolute minimum. Entries will close at 9:00 PM GMT on Friday, March 22th 2024 and will be judged by me - PaulC In the event of this weeks winner not responding by 5:00 PM GMT Sunday, March 24th, a new thread will be created using the theme with the highest votes in this weeks poll. Now we are past the deadline for this weeks comp I am more than happy to go off topic and discuss the DT Railcars. I personally love them, quirky but fun. Classic old clutch & gear box driven units, which to my eyes and ears look and sound terrific. The cabs are sparse as you would expect for the era and so obviously do not come with a multitude of buttons to press. e.g. 1930's Railcar (Pack 2) The Later 1940s version has slightly more to offer cab wise but not a lot. (Pack 1) I find them great fun to drive and a wonderful diversion away from the norm of Modern EMU or old kettles. I see them as a pre-runner to a Class 101 - 105 type of DMU, which in reality they most likely were. https://digitaltraction.co.uk/dt-gwr-railcar-pack-1-1940s-razor-edge/ https://digitaltraction.co.uk/dt-gwr-railcar-pack-2-streamlined-cars-nos-2-4/ They currently have a sale on till 28/03/2024 so you can grab both for UK £13.49 use the code "DTSpring2" at checkout to get 50% off. A no-brainer in my mind..especially at that price, you won't regret it. I paid full price for both and do not regret a penny.
Right, tough job this week but someone has to do it! 3rd place with an excellent interpretation of the theme with the literal track change is I`m a rail fan obviously I love the wide angle of the shot with all the details of the works in progress going on, excellent work! In 2nd place is Blazin with this excellent pic of an SNCF 186 pulling an intermodal freight bound for Germany.... Joint 2nd place goes to Craigie-C with a brilliant pic of 66615 hauling empties into Tunstead for a refill! 1st place goes to cscarpenter with a picture that perfectly captures the theme of a pair of 37`s snaking across multiple pointwork to exit the mainline into Peak Forest siding, great choice of train too with those Vac braked ICI hoppers! Well done everyone, comp master key passed on to Cscarpenter
Congratulations to the other winners and thank you very much for 2nd place and an honourable mention!
Cheers Paul, thanks for the win, must admit was not expecting it as there was some serious competition, great shots from all concerned. New thread is up and running. I was undecided whether to go for Freight Trains or Bridges as the theme, then came the lightbulb moment.............. why not combine them? So here we go, week 13 is up and running with the theme "Freight Trains & Bridges" Good luck to all, have fun. https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/unofficial-screenshot-competition-2024-week-13.79986/
Many congrats all round, another fantastic week of cracking screenshots from all concerned. Major thanks to paulc for the podium placing and mention, much appreciated.
Hi Paul, the ICI wagons, I believe, are from Digital Traction Wagon Pack 3 https://digitaltraction.co.uk/products/wagon-pack-3-2/ The actual scenario is on ATS, although the first thing I did was go to the editor and change the weather to something more appealing than rain, rain & more rain. Nothing against the scenario creator for picking this weather pattern as I totally get the whole idea of added wheel spin, brake slippage etc. as added problems to deal with, I am just personally sick to death of going to work every day for nigh on the past three months and getting drenched also it makes for a nicer image in this screenshot comp, which obviously worked on this occasion. The scenario can be found here https://alanthomsonsim.com/downloads/mlh-bredbury-ss-to-peak-forest-for-jts-mml/
Also be aware that if you wish to grab that wagon pack DT currently have a sale on. https://digitaltraction.co.uk/
Thanks for the info, I don`t think I would have noticed the discount I grew up with Pairs of 37`s working those wagons from Tunstead to ICI Winnington rumbling past my house just 1 street away into Oakleigh sidings, I think it was the late 90`s after complaints of noise/vibrations the wagons used were updated to HIA`s I think and 1 single 60 was the traction.
Life managed to produce a screenshot that paulc might enjoy I was definitely past the switching point, but anyway. Lesson: never use the handle. Always use G or Shift+G, that should take the invisible simulation properties into account.
Oh dear! This might explain what caused an incident with my trusty 66 & some HHA's, when I get back home I'll post a pic of the resulting derailment.
66619 & wagons in the dirt! I forget what siding I was heading into but its on one of the MML extensions
