An East Midlands Trains Class 222 'Meridian' departs Matlock Bath station about to pass under the Heights of Abraham cable car before terminating at Matlock. This was a special service put on by EMT for the Royal visit to Matlock by HRH Queen Elizabeth II and HRH Prince Phillip on the 10th July 2014 as the Royal Train could not go down the Derwent Valley Line. This scenario is available to play as part of JT Derwent Valley Line extension to the MML Derby-Sheffield.
No worries, can still come up with other ideas. Replacing the ballast under the wires on the WCML South (Goldstar Trains DR73106 Tamper, AP Class 31 with Just Trains JJA Autoballaster).
under the wire us Just in time: “Nancy mailed off her application, and it got in just under the wire.” From horse racing, in which the wire marks the finish line. (Dictionary.com) The good people of Lymington trust the Lymington Flyer to arrive at the pier smack on time, and with seconds to spare it does not let them down, making it just under the wire. Headlights ablaze, LMS Jubilee Class 5573 races towards York with a railtour underneath the telegraph wires which are barely visible with the smoke and the trees. Thought I might as well join the Harrogate Loop Appreciation Society, and jolly well pleased I did. Loco:- BMG LMS Jubilee Class 4-6-2 Stanier 5XP Route:- Harrogate Loop
So there was lots of great entries this week with a few of you thinking outside the box. However... The results are in.... So in 3rd place (which could have easily been 2nd)... We have NickFarrant with not one, but two GC HSTs, a brilliant shot of the two passing and a throwback to the time when they did run these services. In 2nd place we have... Nick Y with a clever take on the 'Under the wires theme. Really liked this one and it did remind me of the many times I have been to the Heights of Abraham. Finally in 1st we have.... Craigie-C with his shot of a Network Rail 31 and Tamper. Loads going on in this photo which really does bring the lineside to life in T.S So congrats to Craigie-C Nick Y and NickFarrant. Well done to everyone else, it was very hard to choose a top 3! I now hand over the controls to Craigie-C and I wish you all good luck for next weeks competition.
