Steam Unreal Engine Crashing Mid Game

I’ve been having issues with unreal engine 4 crashing in game and occasionally on startup. This is a fairly new issue that’s worsened to the point that playing the game for more than 5 minutes is impossible. I have 8GB of ddr4 ram (which I suspected to be the issue, but the game has previously run perfectly fine with 8GB of ram) and 6GB of VRAM. It used to only crash on more demanding routes like the antelope valley and SBD lines but it’s now begun affecting lines like the LIRR and metro north lines which usually run fine without any lag. I’ve tried updating NVIDIA drivers and reinstalling them, I’ve verified game files through steam countless times now and I cannot think of anything else to fix. I have ordered more ram to (16GB) because I think that may be the issue. But, as I said, it had ran fine on the specs above for a while. I have no mods installed.
