I think I'm agreeing with you (I think?) It's not unknown at all. It reuses the entirety of the original route, this is clearly stated in AP's updates on the project. The intellectual property (which is not the same as any products based on it) is the original item upon which any add-ons are based.
April was another month of solid work on our MML: London St. Pancras - Bedford enhancement pack. The first week or so saw us working on a small extension to Kings Cross Thameslink. An extension - oh my! An enhancement - an improvement to the original - whaaat! solid work on our MML - hmm. Some intellectual property in there me thinks. Will I buy it - of course
No it doesn't, "our MML: London St. Pancras - Bedford enhancement pack" only describes what they're producing. The intellectual property of the route is still DTG's
Please be as confused as I am then I don't feel senile..... EDIT:....then I don't feel SO senile.....
Do you have to get in the last word on every conversation you’re in? No one is arguing that the entire route’s IP belongs to AP. It feels like you are just trying to get yourself heard saying nonsense. I can see why you scared people away at UKTS as suggested earlier.
Really?... I thought we'd worked out that the original work was the property of DTG. and any derivatives of such were still the intellectual property of DTG It is only any changes to the route that would /could be the IP of anybody else. OK...we all know the story of Peter Pan don't we? J M Barrie gifted the rights to Peter Pan to Great Ormond Street Hospital in 1929. Copyright usually lasts for 50 years but extends to any derivative works of such. Those derivative works extend the original copyright another 50 years. This is why after 40/45/49 years we see new productions of Peter Pan appear...keeping the copyright, and those oh-so important funds, in the hands of GOSH
According to their latest newsletter - Upgrade to the route has been completed and from the screenshots it is looking spectacular. Also they going to include the old Kings cross thameslink platforms which is good for those who would like to run scenarios of that era. Me personally now want to see canal tunnel junction linking to ECML which allows to do 9J / 9S services
Pity he didn't take on the the workshop route idea of extending it to Leicester. I don't see me getting this iteration as the workshop route is excellent.
Yeah, I know the idea to merge with that route is there, but the route origin is the sticking point. If someone wants to try to do it (with heardturkey's blessing, of course) and dress it up, maybe even add track 4 and wires - wait, that's a BAD idea, someone would add the ATS wires, no one do this please... But yeah, putting platform 4 at Wellingborough into place with the wires which appeared at the same time dates the route to the last few years, and thus modern. And if that is done, you almost have to add Corby (360s to Corby) which is maybe eight miles away. Whether anyone continues to Oakham and around Syston from the east is another discussion entirely. If not then added to the JT MML, that's about as far as that route needs to go assuming the WCML and ECML connections are not completed.
If the MML was extended to Leicester then the same wires as used on the section south of Bedford would do. Unlikely to happen as the game might be able to have MML & ECML Combined for a mile of track near St Pancras
I love the Workshop route of MML Leicester - St Pancras - way to good for a free route! Well done Clive! Used along side JT Midland Mainline, I can now do Quickdrives from St Pancras to Nottingham / Sheffield with only a small break at Leicester (to change scenarios / route via RWE2). Have set the AI and route date up for 2 different eras (1989 and 2020) which doubles the use of these 2 routes. So for me, the AP updated route for only the Bedford to St Pancras section is not required. (I do own the original!) One question though, does anyone please know how to change the destinations on the front of the JT Class 222? (have read the manual which says they are changeable but does not say how!) Every train that is a Class 222 currently says goes to Barnsley, and would like to change to either St Pancras, Sheffield, Nottingham!
Try F12 and Shift + F12 I read on Facebook it was that, cannot confirm though. Also someone else said that downloading the enhancement pack from Semaphore Simulations also fixed it. (reading about it more it returns the inputMapper back to the more commonly used F7 & F8 as well as adding other features) Link > https://semaphoresim.com/file/104-meridianvoyager-advanced-2019-overhaul/
From an old post at UKTS regarding numbering/destinations set in the editor: 222015617175A00 222015 is the Loco Number 617175 is the Coach Number A is the coach letter 00 is the destination number 00 & 01 - Barnsley 02 - Beverley 03 - Corby 04 - Crewe 05 - Derby 06 - Doncaster 07 - Hull 08 - Leeds 09 - Leicester 10 - Lincoln 11 - Liverpool Lime Street 12 - London Kings Cross 13 - London St Pancras 14 - Melton Mowbray 15 - Norwich 16 - Nottingham 17 - Scarborough 18 - Selby 19 - Sheffield 20 - York 21 - <Blank> skitz59 (Matthew Webb)
I wouldn't touch the ATS update with a barge pole. I have the workshop extension of the MML, which i find excellent. I also have the GEML extension to Norwich, which is very good so i don't need GEMMA or whatever it's called either.
Maybe a third party might merge it or don't need be the whole ECML merge, perhaps a section up to Hornsey depot and updated Finsbury Park station which is already present in Kings Lynn - Kings cross route. I read it somewhere some time back that someone was working on updated Brighton mainline which is to include thameslink core section including the canal tunnel junction. I don't know what happened to that
It's a little bit of a shame that with all of the add-ons Just Trains (and others) have produced for their own MML route the missing bit between Leicester and Bedford hasn't been done.
It might have the Canal Tunnel Jn but not sure how far on to the ECML it would reach. I thought Danny was making a joined up a joined up route across London? Not sure
I mean i finished the core section ages ago (I mean I finished the Elephant and Castle Section in South London & Thameslink, then updated it for Chatham Main Line Ramsgate to Dover (well to blackfriars) - mostly the same aside from a couple of buildings). As for anything else I've had a lack of motivation for a long time (I mean i have things that i want to do but lack of free time has hindered that) Edit - South London & Thameslink was pre-connection to ECML, and unless someone does the point of origin change for me for ECML I wouldn't be able to include it - I can move tiles but without a tool it will take ages)
It's in the Workshop. heardturkey created it based on a layout from 2018. Wellingborough Platform 4 (Platform 5 when it closed in 1959) was still not reopened, and only three platforms with no Wellingborough South Junction was how it appeared. This also means 360s cannot logically run here, so if you are making a present-day scenario, just make everything a 222 since they used to run to Corby. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3041981673 But do you have the Breckland Line?
No buddy it's a bit too short for my tastes, as is the Wherry Lines route. Which i only purchased, because one of my daughter lives up that way. So it had a bit of family interest.
I have the Norwich extension too. The interesting thing is it is actually still available, and even if it ceases, someone else will always continue to keep it available because it is, as you said, better (and doesn’t require a mortgage to invest in). Heck, I might save a copy on my own Google Drive just in case I lose my PC data again at some point. Might add the Moorgate ECML extension to that drive since GU Studios no longer has a site. I actually wonder if ATS will even have a site soon. Not a lot of people posting scenarios there recently. Maybe the tide is shifting? St. Pancras to Leicester is too short for you? Is something wrong with you? In a freight scenario, it can be a three hour drive. I should know. I researched a few. I believe he was talking about GEMMA. Someone shifted the discussion that way,
The Norwich extension is well worth having. Be nice if it could be merged to Wherry Lines. ATS is the worse type of money grabbing in this hobby in my opinion. I subscribed for a year, a couple of years back but never again. Hundreds of TSC users out there providing addons for free, route extensions, updates etc. They get my respect all day long and my thanks. Nooooooooo, you asked me about Breckland Line and i said that is too short. MML ext to Leicester is brill and at 100 miles total a very nice run. The ext is better than the DTG original in quality. I was talking about GEMMA mainly but also referencing MML enhancement, so i was wrong about that which i believe is AP. Mike.
After suffering a data loss a while ago, (and no decent backup, don't ask) I'm looking to find this route and can't find it in the workshop. I also lost the excellent Breckland line route by Gueterbahnhof (I think) and can't seem to find that website aagain. Any ideas where to find both? Cheers.
https://alanthomsonsim.com/downloads/railways-of-east-anglia/ It has been discontinued but taken up here apparently?
But Breckland isn't in Railways of East Anglia, only the track has been used. Merging Breckland to it is planned though, once it's released.
The Breckland is needed for the route you are referencing. Which is horrendously bad planning by Alan. Why bother allowing the route to stay up in that form?
A. The page doesn't seem to have been updated in 4 years. B. It's a route uploaded to the website by a third party, not an in house production. C. Just because one of the requirements can no longer be obtained doesn't mean that people who did download it have lost the use of it. D. Content creators can use whatever resources they like and are not beholden to what potential end users may or may not have.
But it's not hard to swap the track with RW Tools, so it doesn't prevent it being used by those who don't have Breckland.
It is indeed that. I downloaded it once ages ago, then deleted it, because thats what it was. It would be nice to find the Breckland line again.
Latest FB screenshots look superb. What I also like is this... MML: LONDON TO BEDFORD ENHANCEMENT PACK FEATURES - Infrastructure (Part 1) *Signalling* Using our Signal Enhancement Pack, which is packaged with this pack for use with this route only, realistic approach control behaviour on diverging junctions is implemented, with accurate release distances on many signals, and plausible ones on others where reference material was not available to us. In addition, associated position lights illuminate for routes as per reality. Also, all of the lovely visuals as seen in our Signal Enhancement Pack, such as signal aspect sequencing and incandescent bulb fade are all present. If only TSW route devs could implement this level of accuracy. It's almost there, but we still do stumble across poorly signalled junctions in TSW which massively decreases immersion fo me. Nothing worse then having a great run then getting that dreaded single yellow with feather with no pre warning for a turnout, which there seems to be aplenty in that sim. They have all the functionality available now (app from red etc) but I think It's a lack of signalling knowledge that some route devs have. AP's signalling pack is superb, love the fade for the bulbs as well.
So it sounds like the signalling pack is included to the point that it's used in the route, and other aspects of the signal pack are not included. You know what? This is quite reasonable. I was afraid we would have to buy the signalling pack to use the route outright, and this also allows them to charge a little more given we are getting more work with it, but they can also discount it for people who own the signal pack. This is a very reasonable setup and I like that they did this. I wonder if the discount will go the other way, as well, where you get the signal pack discounted for owning the route.
I suspect that you will not get a discount for already having the AP Signalling pack. I will pay anyway. It has the AP price tag so.....$$$
We won't know until the page for it is up, but given he has done other discounts in the past for trains using similar files (for instance, I think the 375/377 triggers a discount on the 377/379/387 and vice-versa), there is a chance that the inclusion of the basic signal pack infrastructure and the files to include it specifically with the one individual route means that there will be a discount triggered. We will see! (It also makes me think smart users can create partial infrastructure on other routes, but it's probably better to buy the full pack later so that everything works as intended.)
I’ve been really looking forward to this so it’s bad luck that I’m on holiday without a PC! The video on the AP Website looks really nice and I think Train Sim TV are streaming it tonight, so I’ll have to make do with watching others drive it for now.
Looks good, shame I don't have the Dover route (only got the orig Chatham). Quickdrives look interesting, with a chance of adverse signalling - always adds to gameplay.
Looks absolutely fantastic I will 100% have to get this. Cannot believe how good they can make this game look
