Honestly, I think so. The things MTA made dovetail change honestly weren’t that bad and I don’t see why they would stop future routes from becoming a thing. Yes, the alerter and safety systems was a big change, but it hasn’t affected (atleast me) in the way I play LIRR 2. I really don’t remember any of the other changes that much.

Although I would like to share in your optimism, I am looking at this a bit differently. I do agree that from a player's perspective the changes were not that bad. Even though I didn't buy LIRR2 because I have a Series S, I always drive with safety systems on anyway so it would not have bothered me. However, from the MTA's perspective, I do not see what is gained by granting another license, in light of their purported concerns. The deal for LIRR was perhaps only because it was basically finished, but I doubt the MTA will even bother about it after this. While I don't share their concerns, from a corporate perspective it will probably be easier for them just to say no. In fact, I would not be surprised if they have already told DTG that LIRR was the last time.

Cool, I can definitely go for the New Haven Line too, I think there is a chance we can get more MTA content after the fiasco with LIRR. If we get the Hudson line, at a minimum, I would like to see GCT/Penn Station to Croton Harmon, but would prefer the full route up to Poughkeepsie. If we get the New Haven Line, at a minimum, we should get GCT/Penn Station to Stamford, but would be awesome if it ran up to New Haven. Part of me wonders, why the same rules weren't enforced when they released the Harlem Line a little over 2 years ago? I also definitely hope there is a future for LIRR in TSW, since it is one of the first A -> B, B -> C, A -> C routes in Train Sim World, I definitely could see the developers expanding this route further to increase the complexity of the rail network. With LIRR, I think it was due to the MTA wanting to enforce safe operation within the simulator, closely matching the operation of the LIRR trains and signaling to their real life counterparts. From what I have heard of from before, the MTA doesn't want to seem to corporate with DTG when it comes to NYC subway content which is definitely a shame because there are so many opportunities with the NYC subway, OpenBVE being an example of what can be accomplished. I really wish the subway, or to start off, at least the independent lines of the subway like the 42nd st shuttle, 7 line, L line or Franklin Ave shuttle became a reality in TSW.

Going into speculations, I feel like these are all probable choices for the NA route for Dovetail Direct.

    Most Likely
-Metro North (Either Hudson, or combined NEC: NY to New Haven)
    -New Jersey Transit.
    -New MBTA route?

    Unlikely
-Altamont Corridor Express (They were still interested, but their line would be basically be AVL light)
-Amtrak California/Amtrak Surfliner (Latter is too close to San Bernardino to be viable right now)
    -Canada

    Wild Card
    -Peninsula Corridor 2024
    -New operator

This is a valid point. The insinuation was that the MTA had noticed how it is possible to crash into the train in front of you on HAR without using safety systems and while ignoring the cab signals. It is indeed very possible. However, I suppose we can remain hopeful because we have also been told that producing a mod to override the use of safety systems on LIRR could mean the end of all future MTA content. So, one might assume that the door hasn't been completely closed. Although, I have just finished watching the roadmap stream, and judging from Matt's reaction to Crosstie's question regarding US content, I would say the situation is dire.

Well, once again Matt P responded to my question by saying that DTG is " not done " with US freight. Apparently it's his favorite thing to do ( he has a few favorites ). So I guess we must wait and see. At least, as James D quipped, it's a quote to remember. How long the hiatus will last is anyone's guess though I'm sure 2025 + is indicated.

Whatever, we must have long memories and hold DTG to that promise, however vague. Nothing was said about HIS' future projects nor was there any mention of other US 3rd parties. ( I'm assuming SHG is not working on US content any more. Whatever you think of CCB and HSC, I have a sneaking admiration for them giving US content a go ).

Meanwhile, we will settle for commuter rail or, with a little luck, a new Amtrak route.

Only thing we have holding us over till the next freight route is Matt’s Clinchfield remaster, which should give us something to play for awhile.

Especially they should add longer trains to CRR, SPG and OSD. The tiny trains we have there are not authentic or immersive.

Looks Like i will be playing a lot of TSC since i just got into it ..thats where the US freight is ..I prob not invest much more into TSW 4 or 5 what ever ..until US freight gets revamped and comes back big . Hopefully the clinchfield re master will be a start in the process ,

This is a personal project being done by one person in his spare time ( of which he probably has very little as his day job seems to extend well beyond 9 to 5 ).
So you shouldn't expect him to complete it any time soon. Give the guy a break.

So as far as we are looking at the outlook, the only thing new we know is the MBTA route.

Matt was also making wistful glances at Oakville too, so perhaps there designs to remaster that one day.

I can't get my hands on enough US freight and fortunately Matt is a fan so don't give up yet.
