It's just bizarre they used that as a promo, and not make any layers for Cajon.

Is it because the route can't handle trains on and off the Palmdale Cutoff?

Is there not enough room on the timetable between the BNSF stuff and the ATSF F7?

I wish DTG would give us an answer for it.

 

Same reason for the lack of any layers (other than the Amtrak Acela) on the new NEC route, I would assume. US stuff simply gets less care put into them.

One irony I do have of the Union Pacific heritage pack, is that 3 of the heritage units are nearly me ATM in California, UP1989, 1995, and 1996 (Per Heritage units)

 

I thought that is what Livery Designer and Creators Club are for.

Or have any recreation of these fallen flags been denied in CC?

Just curious on why we have to pay for liveries. Not a planned purchase for me.

 

Nothing strange about the pack. Freeware, shareware and paid reskins live side by side on TSC, and have done since the very beginning with MSTS.

Since I don't contribute to Livery Designer, I prefer to buy the official versions.

Plus it comes with 6 new scenarios.

 

You don't have to worry about the 300 layer limit. Pc players can go higher only if they use the external unofficial editor. Dtg has more tools at their disposal to create highly detailed liveries. You're also paying for scenarios which you can't create using scenario planner which is extremely bare bones.

 

I mean they are there if you look for them in various degrees of quality, there is even some George Bush 4141 liveries on there too.

 

Even the best repaints on the CC are miles away from the quality of real repaints as offered in this pack. You just cannot create proper livery recreations with the limitations of the livery designer.

 

So and where is the Union Pacific Heritage Livery pack?
I already own the routes so i only need the loco liverys.....

I mean the other US dlcs are already available since few hours. Just wondering about this missing one... I have something to do so i dont need this so urgent.

 

No offense to livery creators but they rarely look anywhere close to as good as anything that comes from the actual developers.

 

So with the US releases out of the way, this time round, might as well see soon if my prediction comes to fruition for the next US route then, which might happen for the next yearly themed bundle or so I'm guessing (depending on what the next Roadmap looks like).
Until then, gonna be out of order till Spring time (or early summer, either which).

 

These repaints though aren't worth the price of admission IMO. Sure they look nice, but 6 scenarios and nothing new added make this pack just meh.....

 

At $15, this pack may be just a little bit expensive.

For comparison TSC's HSC scenario pack has 10 scenarios for $10, but you have to purchase some add-on locos to fully use it.

So, although these repaints are not especially interesting, I will buy them, just to get some extra gameplay for SMH.

From this comparison and what I've seen in videos and photos, even the colors seem off on the TSW locos. Probably most on the RG one. Funny sidenote - all TSC ones have an E-Bell, and all TSW ones have the steel bell... never did it right...

 

Which is rather disturbing, considering that even though we don't have nice RAL codes as we do for DB, nonetheless most US railroad shades are available, with chips, from model paint suppliers.

 

To be fair, determining the paint colors correctness it wuite difficult, due to the eye adaptation in TSW3 constantly changing and making everything too bright and washed out.

It's possible that the colors used are correct, it's just the eye adaptation ruining it.

 

I would do not judge so hard about the colors... this shows good how it can much depend on light

 

Thanks for the side by side pics... CC liveries are pretty impressive for what the creators are working with... but at the end of the day even with the flaws the ones from the pack are noticeably better/more accurate. CC liveries all have a MS Paint feel to me which is why I don't ever use them... and that is not meant as an insult to the people who put hours into them, the work is impressive, but I think the tool limits how good they can be in the end. The paint schemes end up looking pretty good but the details in logos and fonts always throw it off.

Also I have to laugh how EVERYONE got UP1995 wrong... real life says Chicago Northwestern SYSTEM on the side... while DTG TSW says Chicago Northwestern LINE... CC says Northwestern Employee Owned... TSC says Chicago Northwestern RAILWAY. Like man all you need is Google for this and not one got it right.

 

TBF, the CC one was probably limited by the layer limit, so they had to reuse the Employee owned logo from the nose. The TSC and TSW one is inexcusable though....

 

So its actually orange ? Wow. I should have looked at this irl comparison before buying it.

 

Even with Livery Designer's very limited toolset, I handle the details better than that- starting with getting the exact paint shades right (this can be a challenge, a lot of fiddly trial and error except for German trains)
