I would love to see this. The only downside I see is that there are a very limited number of services. But I would buy it for sure. It’s one of my favourite railways.
It's an interesting scenery and cogwheel railway could be interesting, however I wonder how many things the driver would actually need to do. Do these trains require lots of manual actions, or are they modernized and fitted with cruise control and such?
This seems really interesting. Does the switching on of the cog gears require driver action and good timing or is it automatic? I could totally see myself buying this just to play a relaxing drive up the mountain and take in the beautiful scenery .
Really excellent idea and for the switch it works differently than what we're used to. The 1.435m Track with Riggenbach Rack System must bend in order to be switched. Seen in this video by TrainJJ
In 2022, my wife and I took several trains in Switzerland (Glacier Express, Bernina Express train and bus, Gotthard Panorama Express, and several others). The Rigi Bahn was one of our favourites. And each time we told hotel staff our route, they were very enthusiastic about Rigi. The mountain is known as 'Queen of the mountains'. We even named our dog 'Rigi'! Come on, put some extra votes so that everyone can enjoy a virtual ride on this very scenic journey! With Belgian regards, Patrick
